I liked the gbk. I didn't love it though because the bk around here is so inconsistent it's crazy.

There is a little mayo on it though. Lol

If a consistent BK even actually exists, I've sure never been to it. But the one around me is always inconsistent, so in way I suppose that makes them consistent? The fried garlic would probably be really good on the Spicy chicken sandwich.

LOL he said "be around here is so inconsistent" that's everyone I've been to.
About the only thing you can count on them to do, is put 3x as much Mayo as the burger needs.I don't love Mayo as it is, but does anyone like how much they slather on a burger?

I can't stand BK. I can't think of a single ff joint I'd choose after them. They're better than nothing, but that's faint praise. I'd eat the MRE I keep in the truck before BK.

A few reviews:

1. BK Brownie Milkshake: Tastes like batter. But...meh.

2. BK Garlic & Bacon King: Basically like, garlic chips in the middle? Meh. Regular Whopper with cheese still wins out lol.

3. Shake Shake hot honey chicken. Really mediocre. The sauce was completely underwhelming. They should have just put some wing sauce on it with MIke's Hot Honey. However, their malted strawberry milkshake makes up for it. I still don't know why everyone loves their crinkle fries...I had those in grade school & didn't like them, so to me, the mental branding is "crispy, sad grade-school fries" lol. I am apparently in the minority in this.

4. McDonald's Saweetie meal: Lame. Not a new sauce. Just repackaged sweet & sour. I miss the Mighty Hot Sauce with the Spicy Nuggets, they did a good job on that!

5. Costco's Kale Pesto with White cheddar pasta sauce: Holy hanna this is good! If anyone wants the Instapot recipe for sausage-shell pasta with it, I'll post it!

6. Cookies & Cream M&M's: Nope. Was hoping for Oreo-flavored M&M's. Super meh. My go-to flavors are still Peanut and Peanut Butter. A fresh bag of brownie M&M's or caramel M&M's are also decent once in awhile. Overall I have a hard time with M&M's because they taste like candy now & not like chocolate. As a kid in the 80's & 90's, there was nothing better than wolfing down a brown bag of M&M's, especially before they switched to the saccharine sugar shells with the catchphrase "melts in your mouth, not in your hands". IT MELTED BECAUSE IT WAS REAL CHOCOLATE BACK THEN AND WE LIKED IT THAT WAY!!

Update: This thread now covers:

1. Fast food
2. Junk food
3. Any interesting packaged foods (like new cereals)

Dang, 5-year shoutout! I have eaten WAY too much crap throughout the course of this thread lol. Almost 75 pages of nonsense! Hahaha

Probably! Crinkle fries are good, Culver's does them well, and so far Shake Shack does too. Maybe you don't like the exterior crisp to interior fluffy ratio?

I think I just ate them too much as a kid & it's stuck with me lol. It's sort of the same thing with the new Ford Mach-E electric "Mustang"...I have a Mustang & to me, it's a rear-wheel drive coupe with a stick shift, not an electric AWD sedan, so I'm heavily biased when I look at it, even though it's a great car (at least performance-wise & interior-wise, haha!). Hard to see past our own worldviews sometimes lol.

I dunno, I think that's a different case because it's so different from what it's been for decades, it's really just them using the name for marketing 😀
Weird they brought back the Maverick nameplate for the truck, but didn't bring back Falcon for the sedan or something. Maverick honestly probably would have made more sense than Mustang.

In terms of the BK discussion ... the wife and I use to frequent McD's regularly and BK on a very, very rare occasion. But now we do Culvers because their stuff is just that good. Think Dairy-Q but better.

The crinkle cut fry thing is totally psychosomatic. It's the crap we got in grade school, so it's not exactly associated with quality food. I was the same way. But after having them after awhile, I now respect the shake shack fries.

Instant Pot layered pasta:

Two minutes of active hands-on time. Around 30 minutes total of automated cooking. No draining required. Bit of the pasta burns on the bottom, but it adds character 😛 Roughly equivalent to Olive Garden quality, awesome easy weeknight meal!

1. Dump stuff in for 1 min
2. Let cook for 30 mins
3. Dump more stuff in for 1 min

Part 1: Dump stuff in:

1. Pour in olive oil until the bottom of the pot is completely covered
2. Dump in a blue box of pasta (your shape of choice)
3. Drop in Costco sauce into center of pasta on top (so it doesn't sit on the bottom of the pot & burn)
4. Fill Costco sauce jar 90% with water & pour around the edge of the pot in a circle (so the sauce doesn't wash awy)
5. Add fresh/canned/frozen protein of choice (beef/turkey/chicken meatballs, fresh/canned/frozen chicken, sliced sausage, etc.)

Part 2: Let cook:

1. Set to 7 minutes on manual
2. Do a natural release for 7 minutes
3. Then a quick release
4. With preheating, this usually takes around 30 minutes or so

Part 3: Dump stuff in, the sequel:

1. Take the lid off
2. Add a cup of heavy cream
3. Add in a couple cups of shredded cheese (cheddar, mozz, mixed, whatever)
4. Add in spices as desired (salt, MSG, black pepper, Italian herbs, etc.)
5. Stir it all together & let it melt for a minute or two (add more cream if you want to thin it out)

Fabulous. Costco sauce, shells, and sliced Johnsonville sausage (I think it was either the hot links or smoked brats). 10/10 so good I went back today & picked up more of the sauce lol.

My son has been on a milkshake kick these days. We generally will treat him to one once a week, and have been trying to find 'the place' to go for them. As far as chains go:

  • Chicken-fil-A -- probably the best national chain shake so far, that's reasonably close to us. Good texture, good flavor
  • Marble Slab -- ASS -- not sure if it was the kid making it, but it was runny AF. More like drinking sweetened milk
  • Whataburger -- mediocre, can make one better at home

There are some smaller, local places we've not yet tried, and will likely lean towards those. Either that, or dada's just going to have to keep a half gallon of 1905 vanilla and some mix-ins and fire up the vitamix!

I think I like Five Guys' the most, since it's so customizable. Wish they were a smidge cheaper.

Had the new recipe fries at Wendy’s
They were more crunchy and overall were good.
Burger seemed to be constructed better than I remember which could be a staff thing and the cheese tasted more bold than I remember
Overall this was a great fast food experience.

Didn't know they were doing new fries at Wendy's. Sounds like a win, their existing fries had typically been "passable" at best.

I'll swing by today, I want to try the Big Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger & the new fries. How do you tell if they have the new fries or not?

Frosty & Fries were my go-to cheap date back in the day!

I read something on a week or two ago. Sounded like it was a total change as in on this day they all change to new recipe.
I had two left over in the bag, even cool they had some crunch to them.
The fries were slightly salty imo.

Quick googling proved me wrong. I am not sure. I saw a mini sign at the drive thru.

I haven't had Wendy's in nearly a year, this new fry shilling will probably get me in the door soon 😀
Helps that the location by my new house is more convenient than the old one, though.

Per my brief googling they should be in all locations mid September
To be clear I enjoyed them and I don’t expect to come back soon for them.

I must confess...

...I have a chikfila problem. Literally every weekday morning, 2x bac/egg/chz english muffins + cold brew. Purely from a caloric standpoint, there's no issue. Financially.... 😵
