guys I can't stop eating these fucking churchs biscuits. with some extra honey and butter this shit is amazing.
They're good, but sometimes, I just want a plain buttermilk biscuit with my spicy chicken.

error, does not compute.
I guess I'm a bit biased against them, as making those were just one of the myriad of tasks I had to whilst working at a Church's.

I have no problem eating the honey-butter biscuits with any kind of tenders, but for regular chicken, I'd mainly eat them with plain chicken.

Maybe the combination of grease, spice and honey didn't always sit well with me.

wow that looks so nice. We don't even have Wendy's in the UK ;_;

If you ever get ahold of an ice cream machine, I definitely recommend trying that recipe. It's literally spot-on. Tastes exactly like a Frosty.

Just to try. I'm going to start making Ben and Jerry ice cream at home again. Unilever changed something in Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. Last time I had some, it tasted so fake and cheap. Nothing like the old Cherry Garcia.

Soon, I'm going to have endless supply of ripe fresh peaches from my peach trees. I'm looking forward to making some peach ice cream.

McDonald's Signature Sandwiches:

https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/full-menu/signature-crafted-recipes.html

So this is basically a choose-your-own-adventure sandwich.

Two types of buns:
("artisan rolls")

1. Sesame
2. Brioche

Three types of protein:

1. Grilled chicken
2. Crispy chicken
3. Burger

Three topping options:

1. Maple bacon dijon (sauteed onions)
2. Pico gaucamole
3. Sweet BBQ bacon (crispy fried onions)

The macros depend on the configuration you select. For example, the sweet BBQ bacon topping on the buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich is 800 calories, 39g protein, 80g carbs, and 36g fat. Anyway, I tried each of them over the past week. Sadly, they were out of the fry forks, which was the entire reason I went to McDonalds in the first place. Boo, McDonalds, boo. Anyway, I tried the combinations as advertised on the drive-through panel:

1. Pico guac @ grilled chicken
2. Sweet BBQ bacon @ beef burger
3. Maple bacon dijon @ crispy buttermilk chicken

Thoughts:

1. Hmm, better than expected, as I don't currently like any McDonald's sandwiches.
2. Way too salty. All of them.
3. Crispy chicken is still garbage. Used to be amazing. Oh well. Mine was half stringy & half cartilage as well.
4. Better than the average McDonalds burger, but...still tastes like McDonalds. Meh.
5. Too much corn syrup. Especially the maple bacon dijon. Just too saccharine.
6. Free fries & drink with Signature sandwich purchase. I was surprised, the fries have improved. They went to crap when the government made them dump trans-fats. They are more like "fancy fries" now - the skinny fries you get at a decent dine-in burger joint. Just okay though. My first batch of fries were overly-salted. My second batch of fries with the second sandwich had zero salt on them. But, like all slim fries, you eat them, then they are gone, and you don't really feel like you have filled up on fries like you wanted to.

This experiment re-iterated my current feelings towards McDonalds: they're pretty much only worth going to for the chocolate Shamrock shake, when it is in-season. I currently have no desire to go back.

Got them today, pretty good! They are simply slim nuggets, but in a good way - not like slim fries where you never feel like you've really eaten your fill. The nacho cheese sauce has a bit of a kick to it, and is surprisingly good with the nuggets. I would rank them as #2, behind BK's updated chicken nuggets (10 for $1.49 woot woot). 6-piece with nacho cheese dipping sauce:

* 390 calories
*14g protein
*29g carbs
*24g fat

While I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them, I would buy them again if I was at Taco Bell. I believe the 6-piece was $2 and the 12-piece was $3. Note that BK is currently charging $1.49 for a 10-piece nugget (430 calories, 20g protein, 27g carb, 27g fat), which is one of the best deals for high-protein fast food on the market.

I also tried Strawberry Nut M&M's the other day, special flavor. Verdict is meh. It has a strong strawberry smell, but not much taste. The flavor is light & tastes like the freeze-dried strawberries in Special K.

The smell reminded me a little too much of strawberry-filled Oreos, which is the most awful Oreo flavor ever invented. Most of the flavored Oreos are actually pretty awesome, but the strawberry ones tasted like chemicals. Not like a Starburst, where it's a sugar version of the fruit first & then the chemical mix of HFCS & the various dyes, but like chemicals first with a hint of fruit. Really really gross. Doublestuffed Oreos 4 lyfe bro.

Thanks for the reminder-- gotta hit-up Taco Bell soon! :)

LOL. I'm a female. ;)

I hit-up Taco Bell whenever they launch new food items. I liked their Naked Chicken Chalupas, and hoping these Naked Chips are good too.

McDonalds has re-introduced the Rolo McFlurry:

https://www.foodbeast.com/news/mcd-rolo-mcflurry/

It wasn't listed on the menu, but they did have it at my local Mickey D's (available from May 24th to September 11th, odd date to end the promotion). 10/10. It was amazing. Sooooooo good! I would currently rate it as the best thing on their menu. The only flaw is that while the flavor combination is perfect (they didn't just throw chopped Rolos into ice cream, they actually did a good fusion), it does get sweeter with each bite, so you kind of have to eat it slow so it doesn't overwhelm your mouth with saccharine flavor. I'm a pretty big fan of sugar, but I was only able to get halfway through it myself. Still, it gets full marks because they did a really great job on it, and obviously it's going to be extremely sugary.

It comes in 2 sizes: 12oz & snack-size. The snack size is 510 calories, 10g protein, 84g carbs, and 16g fat. The standard 12oz size is 700 calories, 14g protein, 111g carbs, and 23g fat. Also, I checked the ingredients list, which is split into 3 separate items: the ice cream, the hot caramel topping, and chopped Rolo bits. So that explains why it's so good...they are using a dedicated caramel topping in addition to the Rolo pieces. What's interesting is that in addition to corn syrup, they're also using sweetened condensed milk, which is something I use to make dulce de leche in my pressure cooker, so that explains why the caramel is pretty legit.

Also, I tried their new skinny fries again. They are great "driving fries" aka fries to snack on while you're driving home. I am surprised at how improved they are over the trans-fat-free fries they had a few months ago, which were pretty dang lame. These are legit! The story of the new oil blend is really interesting:

http://150.cargill.com/150/en/HIGH-OLEIC.jsp

The fry flavoring is split into two parts: the oil blend and the beef flavor blend. The oil blend is made up of canola, corn, and soybean oil (for the soybean, both regular & hydrogenated). The beef flavor actually uses hydrolyzed wheat & milk as starting ingredients. So if you're allergic to gluten, milk, or soy, you definitely shouldn't have these fries! But anyway, the new ones are pretty good & are a huge jump over the previous fry iteration.

Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Cups:

https://www.hersheys.com/reeses/en_us/products/reeses-pieces-peanut-butter-cups.html

Why this wasn't a thing before, I'll never know. Actually, to begin with, I didn't ever want to try this. For reference, the idea of Caramel M&M's was great, but in practice, it's a bit like chewing on shards that turn into gritty, sandy caramel as you chew, and I didn't want the same experience with Reese's. However, someone had the mini cups in a big bag & said they were awesome, so I gave them a shot, and by golly they ARE awesome! I don't know if the same can be said for the full-sized cups, but I'd imagine those are equally as good.

The key is using smaller-than-normal (like baking-sized) Reese's Pieces, which don't have a strong shell. I don't like crunchy peanut butter & my fear was that adding the pieces to the cups would make it crunchy & possibly gritty/shardy like the caramel m&m's, but that was definitely not the case. In addition, the peanut butter flavor is greatly enhanced by the addition of the pieces. I would rate this 11/10. This combination took Reese's PB cups to the next level. Awesome. I will definitely buy these again!

https://www.hersheys.com/reeses/en_us/products/reeses-pieces-peanut-butter-cups.html

Macros for the full-sized 2-pack: 210 calories, 5g protein, 22g carbs (I think?), 12g fat. I'll have to try the full-sized next to see if they stack up to the minis. The minis were really, really good.
