Only been to Jason's Deli a couple of times for their Muffuletta (see pic), but this may very well be my new fave fast food joint.

This is a half-order!
Best part about Jason's is the free soft serve.

Their food is okay. Some things are huge portions too some are pretty small in size. Like the wraps are pretty small, but the club sandwich is ridiculous. But some of the food is kinda bland. I like that it isn't heavy though and I don't feel like crap after eating there.

Del Taco bacon/cheese breakfast burrito - $3.50 or so. pretty damn good for a fast food breakfast burrito; these might be going on my regular rotation!

yesterday - Jersey Mike's #13, Mike's Way + Mayo - so goddamn satisfying every single time.

Yah mon. Jersey Mikes is some good shit. My go to is the spiced ham and cheese done Mike's way. Never disappoints.

I put Jason Deli in the same category as Panera Bread. Bland office worker food that appeals to the eye but lacks in taste. I'll eat it if I'm starving and offered for free but I'll pass if I have to pay.

What do you recommend ordering from there? I'd like to try something else besides the Muffuletta next time.

My only complaint with Panera Bread is the small portion sizes, which is why I'll only eat there 1-2x/year. I usually order the same thing, half of a Roasted Turkey & Avocado BLT and soup. I think it comes with chips. I'm not ever full after my meal (I'm a female, so I can't imagine a guy ordering the same thing and being happy, LOL).

Yeah I'd put it in that, but Panera gives you children's sized portions so I've only ever eaten there twice and will never eat there again unless I want a snack.

I pretty much usually just get the Santa Fe chicken sandwich I think. It's chicken with cheese and guac. It's a decent size.

I recently moved near a Church's and I must say, I think they just surpassed Popeyes in terms of awesomeness for me. Same great chicken, but vastly superior biscuits. The first fast food biscuit that I've ever wanted more of.

I like red beans and rice....but I like jalapeño poppers too. So Popeyes basically has nothing on Church's.

Church's also has the pickled jalepenos that you can buy on their own. I always liked that about them. The chicken is better, imo, (though I can barely distinguish them from popeyes) but they stupidly offer "spicy" and "non-spicy" so, of course every time you go, they have plenty of non-spicy and spicy is always 20 minutes away! I don't know why the don't just abandon the boring chicken.

yeah, the biscuits are way better, but that's really because Popeyes has no effing clue what they are doing. Church's having better biscuits than Popeyes is like saying John Tyler was a better president than WH Harrison. For real FF biscuits, you need to find a legit Hardee's (meaning: one in the south. I would imagine that those West Coast Carl's Jrs or other Hardee's are doing their own thing) or a Bojangles or, perhaps a bit astonishing: Biscuitville.

As someone that grew up along the Gulf Coast, we had our choice of Popeye's and Church's (not going to mention KFC, because after the 90s, their chicken sucked).

For me, it's like this:
Plain chicken - Church's > Popeye's
Spicy chicken - Popeye's > Church's
Biscuits - toss up between the two
Dirty/Cajun Rice - Popeye's used to have the edge, but Church's passed them
Jalapeno Poppers/Bombers - Church's hands down.

Sadly, I've moved from South Alabama to just NW of Birmingham; both Popeye's and Church's are as easy to find as a needle in a haystack.

Now there are Bojangles' all over the place, they do have some pretty good chicken and biscuits.

Caramel M&M's:

mms.jpg

Thoughts, halfway through the bag:

1. Chewy, like a Rollo, but not stiff
2. Don't like the shell crunch with the caramel
3. The chocolate & caramel mixes well together
4. The caramel flavor isn't overwhelming, in a good way (which is why Rollos are sold in small tubes). I would call the flavor "distant"...it's designed for snacking, without getting sick of it because it's too rich.
5. They work better for continuous eating than for one-off snacking...once you get a flow going as you eat through the bag, they get better
6. I don't like the shell shards as I chew. Too much contrast...you're trying to taste the caramel/chocolate combo, but you have...eggshells. As you grind down the eggshells, it just gets kind of gritty instead of creamy. I would prefer a candy coating that melted in your mouth so that you could focus on the chewy part, instead of getting interrupted by the shell.

I don't like regular M&M's (meh), but I can definitely kill a bag of peanut M&M's (or even jumbo peanut M&M's). Peanut butter M&M's are also awesome. Pretzel M&M's can DIAF. Caramel ones? Hmm. Good, but the shell is the dealbreaker for me buying them on a regular basis. Worth a try if you want to try something new. I don't really know what they could have done differently though...the shell could be melty, but then you'd just end up with a rollo.

Just had a Chipotle Cheese Steak (#43) at Jersey Mikes and it was really good.
I stumbled upon that gem a few years back. It's pretty good, but can be very heavy on the gut (steak and cheese combo) if you eat a regular. It's probably more suitable as a mini. That's why I stopped getting them, I always wanted to eat too much and they ultimately made me feel bad later on.

My go-to sub there is the Club Sub on wheat with everything except pickle-relish and jalepenos... It's turkey, ham, provolone, and bacon....it's a pretty awesome combo for a sub.

I ended up having dinner at a different Five Guys on Saturday... gotta say that if this had been my first visit to one, I'd wonder why people talk them up myself. Soggiest, limpest fries I've ever seen, and the average double from Wendy's is a better burger than that one was. Still a better burger than McDonald's or BK, but that's not much of a testimonial.

The Club Sub is good. Give this a try once - spiced ham and american cheese done Mike's Way. It's the best.
