I'm getting there slowly but surely! spent 2 hours last night downloading for the TPC haha. Loaded the Bethesda hi-res pack to test and it helped a lot! I now feel like it's a major upgrade from my low settings before. Can't wait to try out all the TPC plus others!

EDIT: I noticed that nothing else except fire/smoke seems to throw a lot of lag my way. Anything I can turn down to alleviate this?

Is the rig in your sig accurate? I wouldn't use any large texture packs if thats the case.

It is accurate. Certainly an older setup I know. It's currently running the Bethesda hi-res pack with settings on Ultra just fine..except when i get near a lot of fires, fps is probably dropping to 30, haven't run fraps yet.

It's easy enough to test out hi-res with the TPC and medium-res. If neither work i'll just uncheck the box and be happy with bethesda's hi-res.

So... game just stops for me :( Runs fine for 5-10 minutes and then suddenly stops I have to ctrl+alt+del and kill the TESV process. Any idea what might be causing that? I got a lot of texture mods inside TPC, the two unofficial skyrim fixpacks (base and dawnguard) and that's pretty much it.

Game looks gorgeous, but I can't play :(

I added the two Bethesda HD packs via Skyrim.ini edit. Only one Cloak mod selected in NMM too...

EDIT: Only happens when I'm out in the wild. I can run in the cities for many minutes without any issues. As soon as I step outside, takes literally a few seconds for the game to hang.

Use only one version of the Cloaks mod. Using all three simultaneously will cause a lockup. Also, if you have Hearthfire, the Unofficial Skyrim Patch is not currently compatible.

Yep, only one cloak is selected as active.

Isn't the USP incompatibility due to something inside Breezehome?

I tried to disable TPC, it NMM said the mod was successfully disabled, but it still is somehow running... I can see all the stuff that's inside it in-game (sky, armors, distant views, trees, grass, etc). Also, just spent the last hour or so clearing a tower (outside area) and doing the first companion quest (dungeon). Not a single problem... I fast travel to Whiterun stables and bam, game stops :( I can hear people moving, stuff is happening, just the screen stops and I can't do anything... Actually, now that I think about it, the stops happen around Whiterun only... And I can't disable TPC to try and figure out which element is causing this :( Maybe I should try the USP beta that was just released?

I'd delete the other cloak esps that aren't running; no reason to have them in there if they aren't going to be active. It also sounds like one of the mods that's modifying Whiterun's cells is causing the incompatibility. You might try disabling things one at a time until you're able to fast-travel to Whiterun without a crash happening. I don't know what half the mods you're using are, so I'm not sure which one might be causing the problem.

How long did it take you guys to run the TPC batch file with hires? Sadly i'm starting to run out of room on my SSD so i'm running it on a standard sata...sloooww lol

Edit: A lot slower than on SSD but not too bad, about 4 minutes. Combined folder is 6.25GB

Only time I get lockups is sometimes when I fast travel and the game locks up while autosaving immediately as I arrive in my new location (most often Solitude). I get a dim still image of the city saying Autosaving and that's it. I too have to kill the TES process when this happens but I can immediately fast travel to the very same spot without incident. Maybe I run out of VRAM at those lock-up times.

^I used to get that all the time after updating to 1.6..something. I did have some mods loaded at the time. Since doing a clean install i haven't had it happen.

Well I'm almost perfectly playable with the TPC. Used 40 out of the 42 optional packs, and pretty much everything was full Hi res. I think 2 or 3 were medium res packs. I'll ahve to dial it down just a bit. Is there an easy way to do so? I'll have to reread the TPC instructions. Maybe i'll have to grab a few more of the medium res packs and recombine.

Edit: for now I turned down antialiasing by half and I have virtually no lag. Not really sure what this setting really does(I'll go read) but don't notice any difference. The world is so beautiful now, I didn't even want to fast travel while playing last night. Went into my first dungeon, it's like it's not even the same game anymore. The lighting and shadows..caves and dungeons are actually creepy now!

Ha! Something has changed the voices of some female characters. Colette at Winterhold College and Angeline Morrard the Solitude alchemist now have young sultry voices. Wondering if that's due to the 'marriable NPCs' mod. Colette I don't mind but it's a bit unsettling to hear 80something years old Angeline sound like she's acting sexy and flirting with you.

*Jessica Rabbit voice*

"Are you interested in my potions and herbs?":D

Now I'm scared to go to the Dawnstar alchemy store to check out if the old crone is affected. Gotta go find me a hagraven to find out if they got the sex-fiend disease too. :D

Yep. That was it. If I disable the Marrigeable Female NPCs mod, the voices go back to normal. Gonna enable it only once I am ready to marry Lysette, the blond cutipie bard in Solitude. And disable it once the deed is done. :D

If you disable it, do you get to keep your wife? Or does she become a non-marriageble lass again?

So it's not the TPC for me. I managed to disable it correctly (Skyrim folder is 12GB now) and just got a lockup after transition - I wanted to kill the big spider for Calcemo and entered the excavation site.

Now on to trying to figure out what else is causing it...

In case anyone cares, unofficial skyrim patch has a beta which is compatible now with Hearthfire. :)

Removed HD textures DLC fix and Finer Dust and played for hours without a stop :) Don't want to jinx it, but it was one of those... since Finer Dust is only for dungeons, it must have been the HD textures DLC fix that was causing problems (I remember that when installing TPC one, TNM said some TPC files were already there from that HD texture DLC fix).

Anyway, I kinda like it with the original "dust" in dungeons (and don't want to risk messing it up again :p), so I ain't touching it anymore.

The game is so glorious... Started a Khajiit heavy armor 1h+shield tough mofo on Master (any other difficulty is not fun anymore :p) and I'm loving it! :D Doing Dawnguard quests (want that Auriel's Shield and the Dawnguard Rune Axe!) and then I'll go for the main quest line some more...

Glad you found the fix. I have finer dust and the hd dlc fix loaded and i haven't had the lockups you describe(knock on wood)

I have notices 2 things. Occassionally out in the moutain areas there are patches of black rocks that are incorrectly floating in the air. not a big deal as i've only come across it twice. Another glitch i've noticed since loaded the hd textures is when i view hanging moss in my inventory it's not showing the image.
