I just wish that the combat, UI and graphics were better.

I just wish they would fix the keybinding issue, my "favorite" key has never worked because i map movement to asdf. Hell, i would like to see a patch that actually fixed things. So far all the patches have either introduced bugs and instabilities that did not exist for me.

I can't believe how amazing the game looks. Just went through returning the lexicon and entered chief giant cave. I had to take a minute and take it all in.

People that are saying graphic sucks needs to play some more or run game in better settings. game is amazing.

I never said the graphics suck, they just aren't as good as the graphics in the Witcher 2. I just finished the Witcher 2 a couple weeks ago, so it is still fresh in my mind, which is why some of these things are frustrating. Combat is where I am most annoyed, as it just isn't nearly as good as the Witcher. But the graphics aren't quite up to par either.

I am running it on the highest available settings, but I have not installed any mods. It looks nice, but the textures are so bland and muted when you really look at them.

The world looks really nice, and I enjoy the open world. However, it is not the best world I have seen or the most beautiful game I have played. The fact that the Witcher did both better nearly a year ago kind of disappointed me, but I can understand why. This is a large open world, where that game was able to reduce the scope quite a bit to ensure higher quality. Although the Witcher 2 is by no means a tiny world, it isn't near the size and scope of Skyrim.

i realized it is no longer difficult for me to kill giants. This somehow made me go commit genocide on all i could find, now i feel bad and wish i would have left them alone.

Anyone pretty please ? Was the optino between storm and imperial truely minor as suggested by the quest category (misc) ?

So I've played around 130 hours and have reached level 56 or so. I've been thinking about joining the imperial or storm group and wanted to inquire if this has much impact on the game's story or if one quest line is particularly pleasing (I doubt I'll go back and do the other as the game is getting old).
-
They are listed as misc quest so I'm not sure if they are fairly major. I'm actually in favor of the imperial at this point (for better or worse I associate the forsworn as storms and have a general negative opinion of them).
-
Any comments/notes/et al.
(I think I'm getting close to the end as I have less than a dozen major quests open).

I haven't chosen sides yet but I can tell you that I accidentally started the "join the imperials" quest. It started as a misc quest but once I talked to the right people it became a regular quest (not misc.). They told me to go clear out a fort, which I haven't done yet because I think I'm going to side with the stormcloaks.

When I first bought Skyrim for my PS3, I agree wholeheartedly about the bland textures. Bethesda really shot for the lowest common denominator with the standard textures. The PS3/X360/low-end PC don't have enough VRAM to do quality textures in such a large open world at playable speed.

That said, I sold my PS3 copy, bought the PC version, and installed it on my i7-2600/5850/SSD rig. I also installed the 4GB LAA mod and EVERY texture pack available on Skyrim Nexus (using STEP as a guide). In addition to new high-resolution textures for everything from food to rivers to foxes, I installed enhanced shaders and other mods (better blood spatter, enhanced spell impacts, etc.) It runs at playable framerates at 1920x1200 with everything on high, and it looks absolutely amazing.

My 5850 only has 1GB VRAM, so I think having an SSD really helps with loading all those textures quickly.

Well, finally finished the main story. Rather quick and uneventful ending. I would think that after saving Skyrim, there would be a little more excitement around the kingdom. Besides rolling another character, is there anything to besides waiting for DLC? Most of the side quests that are left don't seem exciting and even on expert, I can destroy anything with a few swings.

so, even if you finish the main story, you can still walk around and do other missions?

I'm doing the brotherhood quest line; doesn't joining the imperial conflict with that quest? If you do join the imperial and complete the brotherhood quest - what happens ?

I think the amount of gold a vendor has should increase if you keep trading with them. It would make sense that my steady trade with Belethor would increase his business. I bring him tons of unique weapons/armor/items and a lot of other goods yet he still only has 750G every time I go there. Sometimes I will give him 100s of G worth of items even when he has no gold, just so I can clear up some inventory space.

It would also be nice if he would stop being so sarcastic every time I leave. "Dooo come baaaack". I've basically made this guy one of the richest men in Whiterun because of my business, yet he treats me like shit. His shop also opens/closes at weird times. Some days he doesn't open until noon. Must be nice.

LOL I'd give him some arrows if he did that to me. Fast delivery, I use my ahem...ebony bow delivery service.

If you complete the thieves guild questline and do their odd jobs the fence there has 4000 gold to trade with. Unlike other merchants fences also take stolen goods. They start out at only 1000 gold though. This is why I chose to do thieves guild first. To have someone to sell my loot to.

I have about 30,000+ gold right now. I would have a LOT more if I were using a cheat to increase carrying capacity past 300 but I've learned to work within the limit.
