Finding dragons is still an issue; only seen 4 or 5 and I think i'm getting really close to the end (nearly level 60).

I am only level 13, but I have found 3 dragons so far. The first one was the first dragon that you kill with the main storyline. The second one flew around and killed the bandit camp I was going to clear out, then flew off since I didn't attack him until he was done, and I missed with the arrows I tried shooting at him. The third one kicked my butt, and I haven't gone back to try him again. (He was sitting on a Word Wall, with a Lich there as well. The combo of them was too much for me, and my poorly leveled character (I have a hodgepodge of skills so far, without specializing in anything too much, so I am relatively weak at everything compared to my relative enemies).

Edit: I found two more after playing for another couple hours. I have now killed 4 dragons. They seem at least somewhat common. Although only two of those 5 were flying around trying to kill stuff (one attacked a bandit camp, and the other attacked the town at the bottom of the Throat of the World.) The other three were perched at their "home". I find the dragons themselves are relatively easy to kill, although the liches that spawn with them are sometimes harder than anyone else I have fought yet. I am at level 17 now though.

New patch just came down via Steam. Looks like it's the executable only. I wonder if this has the official LAA support. Any easy way to tell?

It's listed in their forums,

An incremental update, 1.3.10, is now up on Steam that adds the following:
Support for 4-Gigabyte Tuning (Large Address Aware)
Fixed issue with accented characters not displaying properly at the end of a line

On the objects within your house, i discovered this early on when i dropped an enchanted amulet in Breezeway only to have it be gone when i went to retrieve it later. The "feature" that your personal home "resets" is clearly a bug.

check the basement. i had a bunch of statues set up in the Riften home. i reentered and noticed i was missing a few. walked into the basement to see a couple sitting on the ground that must have somehow fell through the cracks...

I just don't like that I can't position items on tables etc and have them actually stay put. That's really the worst part of the game for me lol.

Lol.... yeah I spent like good hour doing that ie having all my items like diamonds, rubies etc... on the table, next day they were all on the floor ,seems only books and weapons stay put on the table.

I'm actually liking the brotherhood quests; but the (other than the stupid quest bugs where items are left in your inventory that you can't drop or don't leave your quest journal but you can't clear since you've already been rewarded) one thing that seems lacking in this game is emotion. You complete some 'great' task but no one seems to take notice or for that matter really cares (other than the perhaps the quest giver making some sort of statement upon completion). This game seems devoid of emotion (ala is flat). Compare this with dragon knight saga or wither 2 and where you felt real progression in the story line(s).

PSA: Skyrim 1.3.1 Patch is now live. This now includes 4GB LBA support.

The patch was applied when I signed onto Steam - and after an hour my game crashed out.... and I hadn't had a crash for thirty hours when using the user made 4GB LBA mod....

I thought this would happen. *sigh* I hope you can still use the user LAA patch mod/launcher on top of this one?

As a sidenote the previous 4GB fix will not work so you are stuck with what Bethesda is throwing our way. I didn't have any issues last night but I only had a little time to play.

Don't be surprised if it's still unstable. The user LAA launcher/patch might work better than their own fix.

I am displeased that one of the stupid guys I captured is now to high of level for me to take over again when he dies. :(

How's the official LAA patch working for you guys?

Played couple of hours no crashes so far,did fast travel few times as well.

I'm trying to buy that house in Windhelm after the main story
something to do with a murder
but everybody I talked to is a dead end and does not start the quest, even the guy that gives you the house says not available at the moment so not much I can do ,I hear its buggy.

This mod is priceless: Better Sorting

It seems to be compatible with inventory mods (works well with my QD Inventory). And it's infinitely useful, I can finally use potions!

I've yet to try SkyUI. It looks cool, but it requires a script extender and other crap to run, and I'm too lazy to install that stuff (pretty much what turned me off of Oblivion.)

Yeah, I finally got around to installing the ENB series stuff the other day. Now I just need to find a decent setting profile that works well in all situations.

I'll probably get myself to try SkyUI in the next couple of days. One additional reason to go through the trouble of installing the script extender is that then you can also install a mod that is supposed to increase FPS, in some situations with some processors, up to 40%.

I must admit I don't understand exactly what it does, but basically it optimizes some of the function calls that Skyrim makes extremely often. For those of you that are more familiar with the technical details of coding, I believe it changes some of the calls to use SSE instead of x87. The extent of my knowledge of what that statement really means is that it has something to do with the way floating point operations are handled, x87 is really old, and most modern processors are optimized for SSE2.

Oh, and it was done in a single day by one guy (involved with the Skyrim Script Extender project, so he has some credibility, if you are concerned about that) who didn't even have access to the source code. He also says that the current mod is a rather limited implementation, and there could be some much wider scale improvement. Another great job by Bethesda.

Well, when mediocrity sells by tens of millions these days there is little to no incentive to put any extra effort.

I guess I'll be joining you guys on this game since it's $40 on Steam today. Gonna go through some of the mods you guys have talked about and figure out which ones I should go with to improve the game.

No.... LAA is nothing other than flipping a bit in the executable header.... Either it's there, or it isn't... There's literally no way that one type of LAA could be better than another.

OK, caved in and bought. Have to say I understand what you guys were talking about. Cruddy interface and especially the skills/perks menu, but the game itself is so freakin beautiful you just cant be mad at it.

Got that wonderful sense of awe the first time I looked around outside and set off on my own adventure, a trademark of good Bethesda games. Was also pleased to see all the neat stuff I could do, like chop wood for easy money, make and improve my own equipment relatively easily, mix potions as per the norm (dont like having to discover the first effect of ingredients though), also good to see cooking carried over from New Vegas. Spells are a joy, just like when I first started Oblivion. Rather enjoyed shooting a fox then stripping his scrawny ass and resurrecting the poor bastard. Good times. Got Sven, did some simple quests in town. Looks like I have a base camp as well (the house with Alvon) and thankfully they provided easy access to all crafting, which is nice.

If anyone cares I picked a Nord (I always do with a first game) and am working on single handed weapons and light armor. Will try to use Destruction when I can but am not worried about it.

Thanks for recommending and Happy Christmas to everyone!

Just wanted to add that I've only had the one crash after the Steam update, and have put about 6 hours more in with no problems...

Maybe one of these day I'll actually get around to finishing the game...

\off to kill some more!
