Yeah don't wait up for a multithreaded patch. It would take them a huge amount of work and they don't consider it worth it with consoles still being their main target. Frankly we are lucky to even get the LAA patch and that is very very easy to implement.

That's a shame ...

I hope Diablo 3 can make better use of my system. Blizzard stuff seems to 'just work'. I do like me some Blizzard.

So I overacted, I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it, patched, set the video settings to default in the game, which it auto detects the settings, set my bloody Nvidia control panel to default, and now it's rock stable or at least it has been for 2 hours. No LAA or addons for the high res packs. Think I am going to roll with that just to finish the game. Wow lots of work to get this to work properly.

If and when new patches come out, naitive LAA, maybe multi core... who knows, gona play it all over again with a sneak/mage setup rather than the brute force approach I've used thus far. Great game though. Heck I was going to go SLI on my GTX 580 just for this LOL.

This is my experience. Running full stock and have not had a single CTD. People having a ton of CTD problems are you running mods of some kind?

I haven't run any mods at all...haven't even played with the settings at all. 195 hours in, and I've had several CTD's as stated previously. None since the latest update. ;)

So far i have had 4 companions die with me. Is there going to be a point at which i can not recruit companions anymore?-) I resurrected Lydia a handful of times, but eventually she just bugged out and disappeared. I wish there was more command over companions beyond "stay here" and "come with me."

Ugh, so I guess I made a really terrible decision when I
chose Azura's Star instead of the Black Star
, huh?

Not really. I chose the one you didn't, and it's nice that it's "grand" or nothing, but you miss out on the ability to capture any non-human souls. I think the non-human ones are more plentiful overall. However, bandit respawns are pretty common.

If you hump stuff back to town, you should have more than enough money to buy filled or unfilled grand soul gems anyways. I think I have at least 30 gilled grand soul gems in my house, and 20 or so unfilled waiting to be used in my inventory.

Sitting at 110 hours. Not going to put much more in this weekend since I have to work:(.

No mods here, its known issue if you check the Skyrim official forums,I have been playing The Old Republic for a few days now and its been solid not a single crash, their beta testers did a better job then Skyrim in that area.

It' ll be interesting to see what the main causes are for CTD.

Yeah I'm only about 30 hours in and the way I'm looking at it I'm just going to be buying my grand soul gems for enchanting. I'll use the other soul gems I find to recharge my enchanted weapons.

I've always avoided using enchanted weapons because I never really bothered to try enchanting.

I figured that when I decided to start enchanting this time, I would just get a bunch of black soul gems and sneak into legion camps and quietly kill them with a soul trap enchanted dagger. I figured that would be a really easy way to get grand souls without it affecting my game at all, since they are all nameless soldiers. But as Imp said above, I have plenty of filled black and regular soul gems that I have collected throughout the game, so I wouldn't really need to collect any myself.

Enchanted weapons can give you a nice bonus to damage even at early levels.

I had gone 20 hours so far without a single CTD or crash, but tonight I've had two CTDs and one frozen screen within 45 minutes.

Anyone else having this problem? Was there a new patch recently released that could have caused this?

The CTDs occure randomly, there's no rhyme or reason to them for most people. But the LAA launcher/patch fixes them for most people. Took the game from crashing every 30mins to almost rock solid for me.

Lydia showed up to my wedding to Muiri. I could hear the terrible hurt in her voice as she said congratulations to me.

Now it's 3 days later, Lydia is sitting in a chair in my bedroom and my new wife never made it home... I'm getting freaked out now lol.

So I've played around 130 hours and have reached level 56 or so. I've been thinking about joining the imperial or storm group and wanted to inquire if this has much impact on the game's story or if one quest line is particularly pleasing (I doubt I'll go back and do the other as the game is getting old).
-
They are listed as misc quest so I'm not sure if they are fairly major. I'm actually in favor of the imperial at this point (for better or worse I associate the forsworn as storms and have a general negative opinion of them).
-
Any comments/notes/et al.
(I think I'm getting close to the end as I have less than a dozen major quests open).

I have to admit that I am somewhat disappointed in the game. The Graphics, UI, combat, chracter development, story, and general gameplay just aren't as good as The Witcher 2. Of course, the Witcher 2 was an outstanding game, so maybe it isn't a fair comparison, but seeing that thread talking about how this is the best game ever, I can't even say it is the best RPG this year.

That said, it is a good game, and I have fun with it. I just wish that the combat, UI and graphics were better.
