Yay! Hopefully this will work without many side effects since I have a different sky, water, and terrain textures running. I must admit this is one of the best looking games I've played in a while with the high res texture packs installed.

I've definitely had a lot of crashes since installing mods though. :/

!!!!The Following is a Public Service Announcement as of 11-26-11!!!
icon4.gif

NOTICE #1

If you are still experiencing CTDs with or without texture mods, install "4GB Skyrim" now!!

DOWNLOAD HERE

It is a guaranteed 99% CTD fix! The reason the game crashes to desktop is because the game is not a 64-Bit executable, therefore, Windows will not allocate more than 2GBs of RAM for use!! This mod allows the game to use MORE than 2GBs of RAM necessary for all those pesky awesome texture packs! Therefore, erasing the majority of CTDs and allowing for a clean, fun experience even with the latest Steam-Forcing Patch!

Notice #2

OFFICIAL AMD CrossFireX Drivers for TeSV: Skyrim

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=354664

PSA: There is a GREEN FLICKERING ISSUE KNOWN that involves water & sky textures, it is being worked on. However, using third party textures seems to be solving that problem.

Out of curiosity, is anyone else running a modified FXAA tweak, such as the one found here (which I think is awesome btw), and having problems with the OSD from Rivatuner to display? I'm guessing it's because it's spoofing a different GPU than what I'm running and not allowing the OSD to run since this also happened when I was running other video tweaking d3d9.dlls. It's not a crucial, but I do like to be able to check on my temperatures and load %'s along with my FPS every now and then. (Interestingly enough, Fraps' FPS counter still works.) /shrug

Well, I've been playing off and on. I just got done with the Stormcloack Whiterun quest. That was probably the most epic gameplay I've seen in...forever. Never had a RPG battle feel like that. Doing it at night made it even better.

Can't download the 4gb thing from Nexus, weird...only have a white screen when I click the link in nexus (not yours).

EDIT: It worked ok now. Games seems to run smooth as butter even when turning my head quicky. Maybe it's a placebo effect, i'll test more later. Thanks Raven, a lot!

Not sure if I should mess with these mods and 4gb binary given that I have had 0 ctd. I mean should I risk breaking what works ?

Then again I'm only level 14 now. Still can't kill a stupid cave bear.

Two questions about that mod pack:
1. Won't cause problems with the Bethesda update will it? (saw something about it killing the RAM tweak)
2. How's the performance?

I recently lowered shadows from Ultra to High as I would get a noticeable hitch every so often, which it cleared up. I'm probably close to the cusp of marginal smoothness so if its a big hit, I'll probably have to pass. I don't want to look at my framerate (Phenom II X2 and 6850 both OC'ed a bit). I have had probably 5 CTDs. Thankfully I think all but one were like a few seconds after saving.

Eh, I'll download and try it out and see. Can always adjust it if necessary I guess.

I don't know what my friend was thinking, he bought the PS3 version and just got a new computer with I believe a quad core Sandy Bridge and 560Ti.

Ravenseal, thanks for the effort in putting that together.

Finally burning out on BF3 a bit and this will be nice as I start back in on Skyrim.

1. This RAM patch is post-patch, so it works perfectly even if you have the updated version from Steam. You can always download the non-patched tesv.exe and use the LAA patch as well!

2.Performance seems unaffected on my end, but that's not saying much in comparison with out 2 system. I'd say definitely give it a try and let me know how it goes! I can always put a mid-end texture pack together.

You're welcome! :D

What preset is everybody using with the postprocess tweak? I like 3 the most I think. 4 looks nice but the saturation is a bit over the top

4gb thing doesn't help me at all.

I load skyrim after a reboot of the pc and load my save ok. then i try to fast travel to from markath or something to riften and it immediately crashes during the fast travel loading screen.

any time I try to fast travel it crashes. Most of my CTDs have been right after or during fast travel.

I really like this game, however very surprised they released this game with so many people having CTDs etc...go over to their forums and the CTD thread is now 33 pages long .

My own CTD is random with Skyrim and it can be frustrating, infact never had a game as bad as this for CTD in all my life and thats a lot of PC gaming over the years.

Thanks. I'll remember that. However she's a cloth-only mage (let's say it's a religious decision) so no armour. I like to put in a small restriction like this on my characters. After all, what's life without whimsy? :D

I feel the same way. Cloth mage all the way. Reminds me of my eq1 necro. Next go around will be orc or nord 2h with heavy armor.

I hit level 37 and finally got enchanting to 100. A bit crazy now that I can do the 100% magicka reduction in destruction. Chain casting expert level destruction spells + dremora pet is a bit OP even on Master difficulty setting. Can't imagine this with two pets when I hit 100 conjuration.

EDIT: Meant to say Expert level spells, don't have Master spells yet.

I'm staying away from mods for now, no ctd issues but only issues with the enchanting table. I feel bad for people with ctd issues, it's a really great game experience.

Are you launching the game through the 4GB executable?

I haven't had a CTD in the 12 or so hours i've been playing while using that method. Before, I'd CTD like every 20mins-hr.

yep.

it's weird because i didn't start getting CTD until about 10 hours in and they've gradually gotten worse since then.
