I don't see why grown up people are actually gaming on crappy consoles istead of having a gaming PC. How can they sit there and play with that useless gamecontroller and crappy graphics? When will they wake up? People who are reading this and have consoles, please stop buying consoles and games for it.. You are ruining for PC gaming industry and what games can be on a real PC.

A gaming PC is not that expensive, and Steam is a very nice thing. Not needing to use DVD's or anything. Besides, it's much, much better to game with a mouse and keyboard!

I have a PC. And plenty of games on it. I definitely enjoy it. Especially being able to Mod, and consolidate games on one machine And with steam be able to go between 2-3 computers to play the games I have.

That said:

Console isn't ruining PC gaming, it actually helped define it. Before consoles were big (ps2/gamecube + era) there was never a big selection of PC games beyond the small gimmicky games and some new MMO genre being born. Now? Today? So many games, look at steam, so many of those games would be for console only, if PC gaming didn't increase because of gaming overall increasing via consoles as it has. So PC gaming would still be much farther behind, if it wasn't for the consoles.

Secondly... cheap? It took a $800+ (I actually went a little bigger to $1200, but didn't need to, to play basic games) shipping and tax to create a desktop that could actually run some of the bigger games (BF3, new MMOs w/o being low fps, etc.) without many issues.

Thirdly, depends on the game if the Keyboard is better or not. I know I have a controller I hook up to my PC and use on some games because the arrows or wasd isn't good enough.

Lastly, grown-ups don't or shouldn't have that much time to game. (and by this i mean 5-10 hours a day for teens, since they don't normally have a 40+hr job and/or no school in summer) So the main target area of gamers are the pre-teens, teenagers, and college students. With consoles being cheaper and having enjoyable games, they will always choose that. (Plus none of the hassel required to upgrade hardware or even do much software updating) So consoles have and will always be the more prevalent target when it comes to gaming. (And now more recently mobile device small gaming.)

PC gaming is not going to get the attention consoles do, but PC gaming is also not being ruined by consoles, even if you for some reason believe it so, that is your opinion and probably based on your own views and evidence which isn't true with what has factually been seen over the past 5-10 years.

Saw the shitty news at Steam also today

When I think about it, Morrowind was the last Elder Scrolls/Bethesda game to have real PC UI interface. Everything from Oblivion have clunky menu systems with huge fonts and needs mods to get smaller fonts etc.

Imagine what these games could have been if they was really made for PC, and these shitty 360's/PS3's did not exsist? Just imagine how powerful our PC's really are compared to these consoles.

As I've said, consoles are ruining PC gaming, and have been doing so the last 7 years.

The problem started when the same games was made for both consoles and PC. And when developers just make games for the weaker consoles, and just port them over to PC. It's tragic. Consoles from the past had their own games, while PC's had games made for PC.

And now this shit with the DLC? There is a reason for me hating consoles. Or maybe it's the lazy game developers who is to blame? Or pherhaps people who are buying these consoles? Anyway, it's sad for PC gaming. I cannot stop thinking of what PC games could have been.... :(

I cannot believe how poor Bethesda are handling this. Skyrim was the fastest selling game in Steam history and sold a crap load of pc units.

And its been 8 months with no DLC in sight. It's like they don't want to make money. I don't understand.

I suggest you do not pay for the DLC, when it comes out. They don't deserve our money no more.

This is the clear and unmistakable direction in which the history of computing is headed. Doesn't matter how PC gamers feel about it. Consoles are great for developers: they've created a large market with standard hardware on which any compliant game runs largely trouble-free. Meanwhile the desktop PC is a dinosaur, and why should the average user want to play Skyrim on their 15" laptop when they can play the XBox version on a huge flatscreen with surround sound?

I feel exactly the same way everyone else does about the clunky menus, dumbed-down mechanics, five year-old graphics... but it doesn't matter.

Yeah, have to agree. MS sold around 69 millions of xbox around the world, and Sony sold like 66 million PS3, that's 135 millions consoles designed specifically to play games and that's a big market for any game developer. Sure there are many millions of PC, but only a small percentage of people use PC specifically for gaming. According to some online sales figures, Skyrim sold ~10 million copies, ~60% or 6 millions was on xbox, 27% was on PS3 and only 13% was on PC. I am not happy Bethesda only released Downguard for xbox, but I see their reasoning behind that. Develop games on PC is costly because of the non-standard hardware, testing involved. But the market is much smaller. Why would developers, in the business to make money, wanna deal with PC market?

It is what it is, PC is a multi-purpose device, gaming just happen to be one of its function. Console is designed for gaming and gaming only. For simplicity, for cost, big majority of gamers will go to console, and developers will just follow the market.

So where will it all end? When are new consoles due to release? New consoles is the way for better games on PC too, as they will be much more powerfull VS consoles from 2005.

At last! :D However, I'm not paying 19.99 EUR for a DLC not bigger than faction like Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim

Also, hate how Bethesda sold themselves to Microsoft, giving the crappy XBOX 360 exclusive 30 days. And even after 30 days Bethesda hardly would comment anything on when it would come for PC.

Let's not forget that we're talking about it coming out on PCs RUNNING WINDOWS. It's the stupidest cash grab ever, since Microsoft's Xbox division is just screwing over their OS division for no apparent reason. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul...

It'll be $10 or less by Black Friday, if not Holiday Sale. With the Summer Sale just ending, I'm sure we've all got backlogs anyway...

I started replaying it in anticipation for this, but yes, $20 is a bit much. Also, I'd like to wait until modders get their hands on it anyways.

No way I'm paying $20 for a quest.

It will be half price in a few months anyway.

$20 for that small of content is ridiculous.

I agreee. IIRC, the FO:NV dlc's were $10 each. I could see them charging $15 but at $20 I rather them just relase a full blown expansion for $30/$35. They even had the perfect date to release a big expansion: 12/12/12. It seems like Betheseda's just pushing the price up to figure out the max they can charge for a DLC.
