i guess rudy hosting a press conference in front of a landscaping company next to a dildo shop is just the exclamation point on this absurd presidency

This was not a planned event, you can't contain the joy and feeling of relief people are experiencing now thatIt just irks me. New York is pushing the social distancing restrictions hard... unless it's a political rally for their party. Then it seems to turn into a free for all.
This was assumed to be the case when the George Floyd protests started, but no super spreader events happen. Can't be said the same for a certain loser's political rallies.

I certainly understand, but I mean, this country has been in a figurative prison for the last 4 years. People gonna let it out.
So absurd that it's like an episode of Arrested Development. The trolling is merciless-
Outdoors with nearly universal mask wearing is reasonably safe. Obviously not everyone will be smart and so it's not an entirely risk-free environment.I look at all the footage of the celebrations and think "Shit, you guys are still balls deep in the pandemic!". But I can understand the celebrations. The Trump presidency has been a four year pandemic of lies, corruption and incompetence. Four more years of Trump would have been far worse than this pandemic (although I say this as someone who is privileged to live in a state that hasn't had local transmission of the virus in over six months).
Personally I'm pretty stoked about the result and I don't even have a horse in the race. Even my apolitical wife has been following the election. I think that's because this election has true global ramifications.
Something Biden can do quite easily and can't be blocked by the right guard resistance. He will be able to bring some calm and reassurance to our allies.I

Nothing we do is entirely risk free, but I can totally understand taking the risk to celebrate this result.Outdoors with nearly universal mask wearing is reasonably safe. Obviously not everyone will be smart and so it's not an entirely risk-free environment.
You're in New Zealand? American politics aside, I think the entire world has a horse in the climate change race.
Are you kidding me? I said competent![]()
Not just that, the isolation pushed people to the conspiracy theories.Good article about the mixed impact of COVID on this election. Conventional wisdom is that Trump lost voter share because of his erratic and incompetent handling of it. But there's another side. Trump had a massive ground game that they spent over $350 million on, 2.5 million volunteers doing door to door knocking in swing states. Modelled after, of all things, Obama's 2012 campaign which they studied.
While Biden, to stay consistent on COVID, did a modest ground game, calls and mailers only. This increased republican turnout and probably hurt the down ballot races.
This IMO was a huge mistake which probably cost us the Senate and some House seats.
That can't come soon enough for Australia and the UK. The Murdoch/Facebook/Trump Trinity has wrecked havoc on our democracies too. Trump was a great enabler of despicable behaviour among like minded demagogues.Something Biden can do quite easily and can't be blocked by the right guard resistance.
