The new Keurig Kold brewer?

SodaStream has been around since the 1970s but they fall in and out of fashion. They work just fine, but you don't get anywhere near the number of bottles out of the CO2 cannister as they claim. Even if they did, you only really break even over buying factory made pop.

All I'm thinking is that the pop that comes out of this Kold thing is going to be horribly weak. Just like every other Keurig pod beverage. I'm not a coffee snob. Not by a long shot, and even I can tell it's bad.

I'm disappointed... I came here hoping for a classic lxskllr "closed source software and DRM are evil" type post and didn't get it

Seriously, though... I wonder what kind of DRM they are going to use on these soda pods to attempt to "prevent" cheap knock off pods, and how quickly we'll find a way to bypass it

They got hammered on their Kcup2(or whatever it's called). Hopefully they learned something from the experience.

It's self evident that proprietary hardware is a bad deal. Anyone who uses a computer/peripherals has run into the issue. Computers can be halfway justified since they do so much, but something frivolous like a soda maker is a non-starter.

i dunno, i use a keurig for diet peach snapple iced tea, and it is pretty darn good. almost exactly like the bottled kind, but i think a little better. and it costs be 1/3 of the price when i can score amazon bulk deals.

Yeah, the Sodastream. That requires CO2 canisters, though, and it doesn't sell name brand soda mixes.
