The most ironic moment in OWS to date

Its been spelled out to those of you critical a thousand times what they are standing for and yet you refuse to understand. You arent shaping public opinion at all by posting this stuff. Its been shown that ows is wildly successful in its popularity among people in this country. No one needs you to make this happen. you can sit on the internet and cherry pick stories that conform with your preconceived notions forever and it wont change anything.

OWS is a few hundred people per city. I am talking the truly dedicated, not the weekend warriors who come down for the big rallies like Times Square. If anything the numbers are dwindling with the weather, not rising.

I don't care that what I say here makes no difference to the world, you still can't tell me who you stand for. I'm going to keep on you idiots until you can explain it to me.

OWS is leaderless, there is no central authority to "back" anything if a decision is made to do something it is a choice of the popular vote of the general assembly at that particular camp

So the hundreds of thousands of dollars are in a joint account?

Do they just sign all the checks 'Up Twinkled'?
😀😀😀

Care to provide any evidence at all for these 100s of thousands of dollars being siphoned off? TIA!

You are a well known bullshitter if it fits your agenda besides having chronic issues with reality.

Why would I spend my time discussing who i stand for with your sorry ass? Your mind closed and I don't really give a fuck.

You republicans sure spend a lot of time trying to find ways to discredit this group as a whole. I dont think ive ever seen anything like it.

We're just pointing out the irony, the humor and the hypocrisy. If this were a Tea Party story most of the lefties in this forum would be horrified that the elitist right wingers were turning away the hungry and the homeless or at least not feeding them the same gourmet meals that the protesters were getting. Personally I think that the OWS protesters and the chefs/cooks are doing the sensible thing and telling the leeching bums to take a damn hike. Honestly can't you see the irony in that?

No, because it starts with a dishonest caricature of OWS. The mission of OWS is not feeding New York's homeless population. They don't have the resources to do do, nor has anyone with suitably deep pockets offered to donate such resources (to the best of my knowledge). It should not surprise any rational person that they need to preserve their limited resources for those who are actively involved with their protests.

You'd think with all the taxes that are collected in NY they would be able to pay for it already. Is 3.8 trillion a year honestly not enough to feed poor people? And we're not even talking about the state taxes or city taxes in NYC.

Aside from the fact you've hopelessly conflated federal vs. local and tax collection vs. spending, you've also incorrectly jumped to the conclusion there aren't other sources of food for these homeless. It seems pretty apparent that there are since the homeless have been eating somewhere before OWS arrived. I'd also point out that none of what you said explains how OWS has any responsibility for feeding the homeless. There are other resources the homeless can and should use.

Just as YOU and other OWS supports have failed to point out why the RICH have any responsibility to forgive student loans, home loans, credit card dept, guarantee a certain salary, etc. If the OWS people are unwilling to provide FOOD, one of the most basic necessities to the homeless, why should the rich be expected to provide college educations, internet, cars, jobs, etc? They already pay the vast majority of taxes and fund social safety nets which provide food, medicine, medical care, shelter, child care, etc.

The OWS are acting like the same elitist snobs they claim to hate.

Although some of those issues have been floated within OWS, they are not the main thrust of the OWS movement. The central issue of OWS is the pervasive corruption in America today: our elected "representatives" are openly for sale, the system has become rigged to heavily favor the have-mores, America's elite are no longer held to the rule of law, etc. Unfortunately, the RNC has a dilemma. It likes and supports corruption (unlike the more hypocritical DNC that denounces it while still whoring itself to corrupting special interests). Attacking OWS directly for protesting corruption would thus be openly admitting the RNC is pro-corruption. Instead, they distract their puppets with talking points about side issues like "OMG!!! OWS didn't feed the homeless!!!"

You would have a better chance in convincing a potted plant of your position then arguing with FNE 😉

I think you would find I am remarkably open to things. What I am not open to is people who say one thing and do another. And it doesn't just apply to this OWS movement. Its people who say we should be rid of foreign oil but drive their SUV to work and their RV all weekend and oppose any alternatives at home. Its people who say we should be tolerant of other and then use the bigot card on anyone who disagrees with them. Its the people who say we should save the whales but killing unborn babies is a right to be celebrated.

I'm not as EVIL as most of you FEAR.. although I often play an antagonist here at ATPN.

Do you support the Tea Party?

Can you link us to an example on here where you admitted you were wrong or changed your mind on an issue?

That's garbage, it starts out with the honest and factual reporting of an accurate story about OWS. You don't deny the story because it's true and the story is what's ironic.

The situation is analogous the idea of having open borders combined with a welfare state. I have heard that both of those were of demands of OWS but I'm not sure if they are on the official demand list. Either way I'd love to ask one of the protesters what they thought of the analogy.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. I'm not saying the story is false. I'm saying that calling the story ironic is wrong. There's no irony in focusing on your stated mission rather than expanding it to indulge the self-serving attacks of your opponents.

NYC Bum: O snap, theyre handing out free food in the park. Time to blow my EBT on H&B, heroin, the liquor store, or just withdraw all of it from the ATM. I love NYC!
