Doctor. You need a perscription.

only in some states

uh what? prescription laws are federal. just the other day the FDA declined to make 'plan b' OTC.

Almost 100% positive you can get it OTC in some states and others require a perscription...now i have to go check... :(

You don't need a doctor's prescription here... but they will talk to you first to let you know what the pill is and what you should do so it wouldn't happen again.

Local pharmacy.

Here if you have a prescription it's ~$30. Without one it's $55 (trust me, I know...) :)

Funny sh!t: The brand name of one kind is called... "Plan B" :D

Okay, so here's the story:

Me and the lady friend had our first date... she stayed over. There was definitely some... well, let's say she'd be pregnant now. So we go to the pharmacy that afternoon.

Her: Excuse me, are you a pharmacist?
Pharmacist: Yes.
Her: Okay, I need to get the morning after pill.

Pharmacist tells us about it etc. He gets her to fill out a questionnaire, which she answered both out loud and on paper.

Her: When did you last have sex? *looks at me* I don't know... an hour ago?
Her: Yep we did that *checks off box on form* AND that... and that... yep and that too...
Her: *to me* Oh look honey, apparently we could have prevented this by using condoms. Oh, or the pill...

At this point I'm starting to laugh pretty good, and the pharmacist is holding back a grin.

Her: *to pharmacist* Aw look at him (me) all shy like this. Isn't he cute? It's our first date. :)

Both the pharmacist and I laugh.

So he gets us the stuff, and it's called Plan B. I mean, come on... You can just imagine the jokes there. He then tells us how much it is, and I being the one with cash on me, paid for it in cash.

Her: Aw look at him, being so responsible.... now...

That got ANOTHER big laugh out of us. :)

On the way out I said that I felt like I should buy a lotto ticket just for kicks. So I went up to the front counter and asked for one. Right after I did she chirps out to the teller:

Her: He's trying to get lucky 5 times in one day.

:D

What a fun day :)

edit: And we planned (but haven't yet) to go in the same store and buy a box of condoms from the same pharmacist. Gonna get her to say:

Her: Second date. Thought we'd go with Plan A this time.

:)

I think it's more like 5 tablets one day...and then 5 the day after... but heck, I've never been in this situation so i really don't know.

I DO work in a pharmacy but Dr's rarely write the directions on the package...usually it just says take as directed...And as far as I know, Plan B is prescription only...at least in TX.

Plan B is 2 pills. Old directions were take 1 then the second 12 hrs later, but new directions let you take 2 right away.

Am I the only one who find it a little odd that, immediately after having sex with his girlfriend and losing the condom, he runs to ATOT instead of a pharmacy?

Jesus, you guys are assholes. A guy has an extremely serious problem, and all you do is belittle him. It's not as if he was having unprotected sex, he WAS wearing a rubber. However, the OP should get a smaller size to fit el wango.

Raynor, nobody is perfect, and mistakes happen. Remove the stick from your ass, and try to say something CONSTRUCTIVE.

You know, this thread makes the baby Jesus cry. The real problem here is that this is a matter of MORALS, and to the OP I say this: You need to know that the Almighty is sitting up there in heaven looking down on you with disgust. Listen to the message that George W. Bush tells you, that abstinence is the best way to prevent this abomination, and that condoms, morning after pills, and abortions are all the same: SIN. You guys are SINNERS, and you are going to Hell for even thinking about such filthy, disgusting sexual activity. God is NOT pleased.

Abstinence is where it's at, man... Amen.

go to the emergency room, family doctor or walk in clinic for a prescription. without insurance this can get pretty costly in the states i hear but its better than having a kid!

you may be able to get a free prescription at planned parent hood.

goodluck.

you need the bcp orvral to do this and its two pills in the first twelve hours and then two pills in the next twelve hours.

visgf here:

Plan B is levonorgestrel, which is commonly found in regular birth control pills. Some people go the route of taking 3-4 pills and being done with it. It's not entirely reliable and I wouldn't recommend it.

Emergency contraception can be given out by a pharmacy without a prescription in Washington state and Oregon. It's kind of a test run to see if the middleman doctor can be cut out of the process. If you're not in one of these states, go to the local family planning clinic or Planned Parenthood. She has 72 hours from the time of the accident to get the pill, so you're lucky it's the middle of the week. Otherwise it would be a painfully expensive ER visit.

Good Luck.

planned parenthood or you local health clinic should have them. basically any place where you would go to get tested for STDs would probably have them.
the only time i knew of anyone who went to go get one was when i lived in a more rural area....so...it could just be that everytihng was in one place because of that. but im pretty certain planned parenthood would have it.
