The London 2012 Olympic Games...

This whole Olympics has been very disappointing, from the NBC coverage, to the swimming losses, to the Men's Gymnastic's implosion. Top that off with the Chinese kicking our ass in almost everything. Yes, we have some team events we should easily win, but unless Track and Field garners the US a ton of Gold, there's no way we are catching the Chinese.

They were talking up the number of medals the USA was expected to earn and I think we are going to be disappointed. Phelps is already a slacker. He is still a good swimmer and athlete of course but he doesn't have that drive to win anymore IMO.

I think a number of smaller countries are going to see more medals with improved Olympics teams. I think bigger countries like China have invested in their Olympic teams (China invested 4.5Bn into their athletics programs for the Olympics)

Meanwhile I read an article the other day about how mostly Olympic athletes are below the poverty line in the USA. How its hard to have a 9 to 5 job when you need to train 12 hours a day and how inflexible the workforce has gotten etc. And I think it shows in the athletes all stressed out etc.
Prediction win?

🙂

Our support of Olympic athletes is basically SNAP.

Bruce failed to qualify for the London Games at the recent Olympic Trials. He needed to finish third in the event final, but faded to fifth. The loss puts him in the unfortunate position of being one of the sport's best athletes to not make the team.
Oh that sounds familiar.

Unless Ditka shows up.

Then the final gold medal count will be:
Ditka - 199
Everyone else - 2

This!

Here's NBC's response to the omission of the terrorism tribute during the opening ceremonies, in favor of a useless interview with Michael Phelps:

NBC finally responded to overwhelming criticism of its decision to heavily edit coverage of Friday's opening ceremony with an answer that satisfied neither American fans nor Olympic organizers. Claiming "our programming is tailored for our American audience," NBC spokesperson Greg Hughes defended the network's choice to replace the "Abide With Me" memorial performance with a Ryan Seacrest interview of Michael Phelps.

so, basically "fuck off"

I'd discount any event that Usain Bolt is taking part in.

I'm watching the men gymnastics and man did they blow it. The worst US team I ever seen everyone keeps falling on every event. I did not get past the 3rd event after seeing all the other teams crushing scores.

Ya what was up with beach volleyball and wearing that crap. London Olympics been fail. Who thought London's weather was going to be good for outdoor events. Even the first day road race was rain one min and sunny the next just great for biking.

Archery was fail to with all that wind.

did you pay attention to the other teams scores? they weren't much better. the only team that did great across the board was China. they blew the field away

China, 275.997
Japan, 271.952
Great Britain, 271.711
Ukraine, 271.526
United States, 269.952
Russia, 269.603
Germany, 268.019
France, 265.441

not a huge score difference. Also the US was only favored to win a meddle by the US. they were thought to have a chance to bronze (a very slim chance). NOBODY expected GB to do as well as they did.

I didn't like the scoring they did. they were hard on everyone across the board. but the US didn't do as bad as people are trying to make out. China just was amazing. I wonder how they will do in all-around

Now the Women s team is expected to do better though.

Blame NBC all they showed after the first 2 events was other teams crushing it. I turned off after that. Here I was thinking after the first round and the US qualify #1 that they had a chance thanks for straightening me out on all of this.

Those of you still suffering from NBC. do this

get expat shield from www.expatshield.com

install

start it up

go to http://www.bbc.uk.co/2012
watch all events without commercial, including live and previous events, with a bit of delay on the previous events of the day before because they have to process it and get them hosted.

I installed expatshield and then minutes later got a message from GMAIL support that someone was trying to log into my gmail account (It was not a phishing email). Coincidence?

If you logged into your own gmail while running expatshield it could be seeing you as you are on a UK IP address using expatshield

Using that you get assigned an IP that looks like its from Great Britian, so Gmail probably saw your gmail being accessed from an ip in great britian, and thought that was suspicious. i dont think its anything to worry about.
