the chinese closing ceremony shat on the british closing ceremony

even the Brazilians got it right with their 15 minutes - less theatrical bullshit, more lights on costumes. When the commentators need a cheat sheet to explain what the fuck is going on, you're doing it wrong. ooooo Shakespeare on cars. YOU GAVE US SHAKESPEARE. WE GET IT. I bite my thumb at this british closing ceremony.

no i'm not chinese.

agreed. i was not impressed with opening or closing ceremony's. i gotta admit i didn't get half of what was going on.

Listened to Dan Patrick on his first day back. Best part was his description of the ceremonies "they were open to interpretation, I think I would have had to been on something to understand them."

Think that would be code word for a nbc rep to say it sucked.

probably means sochi.

I'm impressed Russia is essentially building a city just for the olympics.

Sochi is a rather corrupt, and "undeveloped" version of a resort town--so yeah, they have to build everything new.

Plus, the corruption makes for a perfect host for the IOC. 😀

as for the ceremonies--I thought the opening bit of the opening ceremony in London--up to the Industrial section, was better than anything in Beijing. Overall though, the ceremonies were still idiotic, pointless messes. Beijing was far more cohesive and impressive as a whole: look world--look at the things that mass collectivism can do! 😀

the London closing ceremony was pretty much unwatchable. WTF was that nooblet trying to sing Wish You Were Here?? D: At least Nick Mason was on stage, but...wtf? 😡

Went to the Paralympic games today, it was pretty cool. It was even busier than the olympics IMO, saw the prime minister there. Pretty cool.

How is the US coverage? I've heard stories...

That's awful.

They've done so much in the UK to make it the "Parallel" Olympics. Which is what it is after all. I hate that the American TV guys can't do the same.

why? so they can garner charity viewership? i've seen uk media spew about it, as if it really meant something more than it is, news coverage is more promotional than honest.
