Watch a good bunch of it, entertaining but would not watch again. They had to glorify that Mohamed ali corpse again and neglected to have a moment of silence for the Israeli massacre, what a shame,

Is it me or the opening ceremony was underwhelming compared to the Beijing 2008?

well, I think it's difficult to top Bejing but IMHO the Brits did a great job
Boring in the beginning but it grew on me and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was very British so I can imagine that for a lot of people it's not what they expected

I don't think that any opener can top it on a technical basis.

Not just technical, but Beijing was amazing in terms of sheer scale, amazing beauty, and the production value.

The Brits sure love their healthcare. For those of you across the pond, is it really that big a point of cultural pride? Even before Obamacare if we'd had something like that in the states it would be scoffed at for the forced political message.

the NHS is a very great thing for most brits, of course they are very proud to have it, and they happen to have NHS staff and doctors from a hospital doing that part.

I'm sorry British people. This is such a bad opening ceremony. Even Bob Costas doesn't know what to say. And he likes talking a lot.
