if it sucks here so bad, how come everyone wants to come here?

I agree. That's one reason I have so little patience with people who cry about their taxes, or business regulations, environmental programs, welfare costs, or whatever -- especially since these things seem to be loosening lately, particularly taxes. They whine about how awful it is here, yet they don't want to relocate to some third-world hell-hole where they can indulge their unfettered capitalistic fantasies with abandon. No minimum wages, no safety regulations, no unions, no environmental constraints. It would seem every capitalist would be abandoning the U.S. on the first available corporate jet.

Yet they stay. They whine, but they stay. Why is that?

Country Population/immigrant application ratio for every couontry in question. Until such time your post is totally vapid.
you liberals are so easy .... sucked you right in....of course i have references. now answer my question..name a country that you believe is "better" than the U.S. based upon number of people migrating there.

linky - this link shows that sub-sahara africa, near east and north africa, China (mainland and Tiawan), "Other asia", Latin America and the carribean, Eastern Europe and the newly independant states, have net migratation rates negative or much less than Europe and the U.S.

here is the 2003 estimates from the CIA World Factbook
linky

the U.S has a substantial positive migration rate (rate per 1000), and when taken in context of population size linky, i don't believe any country has as many migrants coming in as the U.S.

all of my children will be born with the option of alternative citizenship
that's a start....
as for china, the most populace country in the world, it has a net negative migration rate. for a country with so much "potential" don't you think it's curious that people are trying to get out?

i'll tell you a story...i have a friend who is persian-american. he has family in iran. he hates bush, and wishes he lived in france. i asked him why he doesn't move to france, he states that he doesn't want to move his kids to another country right now. well gee, if the u.s. is so sh!tty, why doesn't he want to raise his kids in a better enviroment? the final joke of all of this is that his sister, who lives in iran and "hates bush" wants him to help her migrate to the U.S!! this just cracks me up.....

I don't see any signs of huge inrush of people coming here except for the ones that will never speak English from south of the Border.

You have massive numbers to post of European, Asians etc coming in here, I'd like to see the facts.

[L=Your Link]http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/fields/2112.html[/L]

"Net Migration Rate - the net balance between in-migration to an area and out-migration from the area over a specified period of time (e.g., 10 years) on the area's population. When one refers to a net migration rate this net balance is expressed as an increase or a decrease per 1,000 population of the area at the start of the time period."

Afghanistan of all places! By a factor of 4!
And about 40 other nations.

now answer my question..name a country that you believe is "better" than the U.S.

Economics?
Second only to Mexico in child poverty
Economic freedom stat. 8ths not bad I guess but certainly not "more"
GDP per capita is 2nd!!!... too bad those starving children get none:(
I see why, we don't really make that much when its amortized.. only 6th position

political?
Olny two parties which are identical?
Try 30th in democracy:(

social freedom?
8th highest crime rate in the world.. Free to get robbed. No the by the governemnt HS by a violent felon.
And still more prisoner percapita than any place on the planet..

Well it seems obvious why "everyone" does'nt want to come here now HS, Were damn near a third world county.. Why leave when the grass is the same color? Need major improvement and telling yourself everything is peachy does nothing to do this.

God damn Zebo. You really are a US hating bastard aren't you?
How about an alternative explanation? Isn't it possible that America has better days ahead of it? Maybe if we invested more in our people and less in the military-industrial complex . . . we might move up some of those scales.

Just a question . . . hate the message . . . not the messenger. Admittedly, I would rather be poor in America than poor in Bangladesh . . . well . . . I would rather be poor in certain states . . . typically the blue ones.

And before you answer al don't forget the number one and the one one characteristic of a fascist.;)

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -- Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts -- Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

Yah whatever. Takes a real quality type of person from an undetermined political party to make patriotism a bad word.

Are you claiming to be an artist or an academic?

Never said I wanted to move anyplace. Mulling and wanting are quite different emotions. Ones an exploritory notion while the other implies finality. Plus HS asked an alternative to USA! However If things go down the drain and we revert to a police state you bet I'll be drinking a Cuvée tradition in Montpelier while you guys fight amongst each other.

No fault, ok. don't vote then. and Why are you here if not to talk shop and address issues? And I have'nt addressed "every" fault. What is it with you guys and your absolutes? "Every" and we'd be here all day.

Those stats are from various sources you'll find by reading to footnotes. I only used that page because it complies them for succint retrival and graphical ranking.

I do wonder if Bush hates America at times though since he decides against showing
The dedication of the US Consititution Center.. The fact they blow off solicitations alludes to a very real lack of respect for the Constitution.

The first ever and only such public memorial created, voted upon by the Congress to celebrate the Constitution of these United States. This dedication was a one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime thing -- of enormous national significance -- Not some mundane category of everyday "fund raisers" and "photo ops", none of which Bush ever willingly passes up. :(

Like his PA which shows utter contempt for the consititution and all things right about western law and ruining our reputation world wide as a "city on the hill" wer'nt enough.

And Al, "Citizenship" is not loyalty to the government, but to the ideals of the Nation. Which can be found in that quaint document Bush seems to have utter contemt for.

ah..short attention span posters...hot flash..to see how the world votes with its feet, you have to take the migration rate and multiple it by the population..i even gave you a hint that it required some rudimentary math skills..alas i expected way to much from my liberal friends (some of whom seem to allude to some sort of post-graduate education)

i'm sorry if i sound condescending, but goodness gracious you don't even have fundamental math skills.....

take the rate of migration, and multiply it by the population to get the actual number migrating into the country.....i know that reading is a hard enough for you all, and that multiplication may be beyond your abilities on a nite like tonite so here we go.
population migration rate net migration

i hate to burst you self-righteous, overblown "i know what's right" liberal uberview of the world, but yes indeed, over 1 million people/year vote with their feet to migrate to the united states, youre beloved canada receives less than 1/5 that number and the french and the germans even less than that. I don't know of a single country oin the world that recieves more migrants/year than the U.S.

you liberal whiners are pathetic. you can't read, and apparently you can't do simple math either.

god bless america. and yes, i really mean that, because we are a beacon of freedom and opportunity to the rest of the world. and if you don't think so, it's because your spoiled and don't have any clue as to how the rest of the world gets by with so much less of everything you take for granted.

Wrong, that 1 million is nothing compared to what used to want to come over. Also missing from that number is more than 1 million from just South of the Border alone. We get at least 5 Greyhound Bus loads a day dropped off here straight from Mexico and an Amtrak train too.

i hate to burst you self-righteous, overblown "i know what's right" liberal uberview of the world, but yes indeed, over 1 million people/year vote with their feet to migrate to the united states, youre beloved canada receives less than 1/5 that number and the french and the germans even less than that.

:::YAWN:::

Baffle em with bullsh1t, ad hom, ra ra ignore all the questions raised change the subject this is my last reponse on the subject to this idiot.

I did'nt do the math because it's unessesary for country disriablity. Thats already given by the migration rate which the united states ranks ~40th in, natually the untied states having a postive migration rate combined with it's huge 3rd overall population and huge land mass will have a higher aggregate of immigrants than smaller countries. Still it has a migration rate lower than 40 other countries. By definition it's not the most disirable.

Lets not forget you said "everyone" wants to come here which was never shown.
