Going to see it tonight with the wife ($4 tickets via Groupon). The first one was stupid fun... I'm not expecting a masterpiece.

Who though this would be anything other than shit? Sequels to successful comedies are almost universally awful.
Caddyshack 2 D:D:D:D:

I thought Dumb and Dumber was pretty funny. The sequal was so bad that I want to shoot the writer, director, and everyone involved in the making of that film.

Didn't like the first one, and knew the 2nd one would be a total flop. Though, I might still watch it. There are plenty of movies I enjoy that have awful RT ratings.

Saw it today... So very disappointing. It was almost exactly the same movie as the first, with the exact same jokes, only not funny.

I'm surprised it's at 33% on the Tomatometer.

that is exactly what the preview makes it look like it is. i'll wait for dvd of this.

Wow 33% rating by the reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, but 94% of the audience like it.

How can there be this much of a spread?

That's true. I can't think of any comedy sequels off hand that are any good, let alone as good as the original. Some are just a special type of awful.

*shudder* caddyshack 2 *shudder*

Naked gun series?

Movies like this are not judged by Rotten Tomato ratings. They're judged by money so it appears that The Hangover Part II will not be a flop.

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/05/27/hangover-part-ii-review/

FROM MTV MOVIES: By this point, if anyone is still doubting whether "The Hangover Part II" will be a massive worldwide hit, Wednesday's midnight screenings should quiet skeptics. Warner Bros. announced that the follow-up to 2009's record-smashing hit roped in $10.4 million in those early showings, setting a new midnight opening record for an R-rated film on its way to what many are predicting will become a $125 million opening over the five-day holiday weekend.

I didn't do back flips over the 1st one either. No desire to go pay to see the new one after reading some reviews, Bridesmaids looks good though.

Naked gun series?

I honestly haven't seen them, but you have a point. I also thought the 2nd Austin Powers (and even the 3rd for most of it) was still quite good, but I forgot about those.

My guess is this will be #1 and make crazy money. A flop would be a movie that nobody sees. This definitely won't be a flop.

I heard it was funny, a few people in my business speaking class went midnight wednesday and loved it, same with some other friends/family.

Why are people on the internet never satisfied?

Just got back from seeing it. The EXACT same plot as the first movie. Was still fun though, and the wife and I were cracking up the entire time.
