I can think of a number of posts where you just come in and insult people and add nothing to the thread. When you get proved wrong you vanish.

So maybe you should just keep out.

I don't insult people, I correct them. Some just can't handle being wrong and get all pissy.

No you just come into threads telling people they dont know what they are talking about. You fail to address their point or counter their opinion.

Thats basically an insult.

I dont mind being told im wrong as long as the person has a counter point to make. But you dont.

Any fool can come into someones thread. Call them clueless and then vanish afterwards. Its a pretty pathetic and cowardly posting style that is nothing more than baiting for reaction.

RS if I'm not mistaken 680 lightning with volt mod was the fastest card until amd released never settle drivers.

A GTX680 boosted to 1290mhz GPU / 7168 mhz memory could not beat a 1070mhz HD7970 as early as June 2012:

Maybe, but weren't there only 5000 680 Lightnings that had unlocking capabilities?

Similar results in July when HD7970 OC outperformed GTX 680 OC easily, way before the Never Settle Drivers.

Stock HD7970 Sapphire Toxic outperformed the fastest 1267mhz GTX680 too:
http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/sapphire-hd-7970-6gb-toxic-edition-review/25/

The Lightning also cost $580-600 when by June-July 2012, after-market HD7970s were going for $450! Lightning GTX680 @ 1380mhz might have been 4-5% faster in HardOCP review with 3-4 games but not across 10-15 games that other sites tested. Regardless, even if it was a hair faster than a 1250mhz 7970, it was a terrible value considering nearly a 30% price increase!

What about 99% of all other 7970s vs. 680s? It's fair to say HD7970s OC > GTX680s OC except 5000 units of GTX680 Lightnings that accepted a volt mod.

Last time I checked this thread is about GTX 780,770 not how FX1 feels about Firebird :D

@ RS I think all you needed was a specific bios and nothing more than that.I think "blackened" can shed more lights on that. Also I was talking from a merely academic point of view, I never said 680Lighting was a good value.

I think most people will have an issue with a $699 price tag, if that truly ends up being the price. $599 and people will complain but it will still sell well.

I think $599 is ok. It's $100 more than the last 3 gens launched at, but it's not a big deal. compared to the cards around it.

$699 would just be crazy and if people don't crucify it like they did 7970, then I think I'm done with the forum.

If the 780 is priced too high for the market, hopefully we'll see prices drop back down to reasonable levels.

I remember HardOCP's review where it beat the 7970OC but the 680 was overclocked to nearly 1400mhz. Yet, there are at least 3 other reviews that showed nearly 1.3ghz overclocked 680s losing to 1200-1250mhz 7970 OC cards. Once games like Sleeping Dogs, Dirt Showdown, Sniper Elite V2, Hitman came out, the 680 fell behind even more.

Yeah, once those Gaming Evolved titles came out the 680 fell behind.

Luckily for Nvidia during that period AMD's drivers were exposed. That and being competitive in better, more well received titles probably goes a ways to explain why they outsold AMD so much.

This thread only has enough relevant content to fit in the original post. 50 pages of banter between. :D That's got to be a record for semi-off topic, then again I guess not thinking about the ps threads and tegra threads etc.

Some people are very loyal to the company they buy transistors soldered to circuit board from

Woohoo, another thread derailed with people touting about how their video card is the best and how it has paid thousands of dollars to charity and everyone else is getting ripped off and whatever they own is the best.

If you need to endlessly tell others how awesome your card is in a rumor thread about unreleased video cards, perhaps you're trying too hard.

This.

The V&G forum has turned into a complete owner bias forum. 'I own this, so it must be the best...' or 'Your card is only 20% faster yet 50% more $$$, what an idiot...' :/

These huge threads make me really miss Usenet. Does anyone actually read more than the first and last page?

So anyway... I'm looking at the GTX660/GTX650 ti Boost. These parts aren't going to be refreshed anytime soon are they? There were some great deals a couple of weeks ago, but they seem to have all dried up. What does pricing look like over the next month or so?

Edit: Interesting.
