Eating anything in excess is bad for you. Granted, some worse than others.

Dr. Mercola is right. If you eat what he says you will be healthy. When you are healthy you cannot get diseases such as cancer.

This has to be one of the most ignorant statements I have seen on these boards.

I already said the guy was an idiot. That is one of his claims.

Yeah, but you'll starve to death. I'll take my french fries and soda over starvation.

I noticed that immediately.

If aspartame is bad for you, I'm dead.

Causes tumors among other things.

That test was injecting pure aspartame into the bloodstream of mice, you would have to drink over 2000 servings of a diet cola to get that dosage.

WTF was the point of that test then?

Edit: Injecting a lot of air into your veins will stop your heart... so that means that air is harmful!

I'll stand alone, again, and say that I agree with Mercola. I've been reading into his, and others', ideas and research for about a year now. I decided to put their suggestions to the test. My immune system is healthier than it's been in about five years. My blood pressure is back down to 123/79 (tested yesterday) without drugs. My back has been healing far more than any M.D. claimed possible. And, I simply feel way better and have much more energy.

But, go ahead and keep believing the FDA (which takes bribes) and the drug companies (that make bribes) and we'll see which one of us lives a healthier life.

In fact, I have a pizza in the oven right now. I haven't eaten one for about a week now. As long as you don't eat junk food daily, you should be OK. You only live once and I'll be damned if I'm going to let some speculation get in the way of enjoying food. It's our source of energy and life. My grandpa still eats pizza, soda, and doughnuts and he's almost 90. :)

The trick is to work off the calories, as we all know. Me, I religously take the stairs to my 8th floor pad, ride a bike everywhere, and eat the most unhealthy foods known to man(in moderation). This health food bandwagon though makes me nausous.

You can't possibly be so naive that you don't realize different people metabolize food at different rates. But no, none of those things could possibly be unhealthy because you are able to eat them without gaining weight.

Movie theater popcorn should probably be on that last too. But it's so darn good.
Oh, I'm definitely outside at least the first standard deviation above the metabolic mean, I admit that. But from the way the site presents things, those five substances are worse than eating straight cyanide.

I did present things poorly, but the simple fact is that there are a myriad of other factors that need to interact with the consumption of those foods in order for them to cause anything resembling the health issues that the site claims.

The whole aspartame thing, oh no, 5 people in the world reportedly died from aspartame, and how many thousands from sugar? :p

It's called diabetes and consuming large quantities of sugar has been associated with its early onset - especially sweeteners like HFCS.

Any and all starch, or carbs, are converted into blood glucose (blood sugar). Some at an even faster pace than pure sugar.

There is a scale, The glycemic index, that puts a scale to how fast these carbs are converted into blood glucose. As you can see there are many that are much worse than sugar.

The Five Absolute Worst Foods You Can Eat

Once again...

According to an article in JAMA, 750,000 people die each year as a result of our healthcare system.

Three-quarter of a million people? That's doubtful.

Oh, now you're just making this crap up. I found your "source" on Mercola's page, and I don't know how you got 750,000 from 250,000.

110/60 BP and a resting heart rate in the upper 50's. My eating habits are already documented in this thread.

As long as there's enough activity to work off the caloric intake, you're fine.

Sure there are other factors than poor diet. Tobacco use, physical inactivity and alcohol abuse will ruin your health too.

No one else got that the entire article is just trying to sell you something, every food has a link to a substitute that he recomends, which is all conviently sold through his website. This article is BS, try getting one from a guy that isn't trying to make money off of it..

Obviously, not all calories are equal.
