This line of argument annoys me.

The link is to a video of his fellow soldiers speaking about what they knew. I.e., we're hearing their own words, not some pundint or talking head. So what does it matter who hosts it? (And if you'd have bothered to check it out you'd have seen that Hot Air isn't hosting it. Their link goes to another site.)

All the video shows is some guys giving their version of events. These guys could be telling the truth, they could be telling half-truths or they could be a bunch of blue falcons who are lying their asses off. For some reason there are people out there who think that this is all the evidence that is needed to convict Bergdahl. Why? Because it fits their preconceived notions. No need to hear from the 'traitor', just punish his ass already!

Why the rush to judgment, what's the hurry? Is he going somewhere? Are these people afraid that the military will just let this go and do nothing? Why can't people wait until the military looks at the evidence and makes their own decision?

He's an American soldier and he deserves no less than a fair hearing and if necessary, a fair trial. Is that too much to ask?

Well, I could be like you and when pressed to back a claim simply ignore it but, what the heck.

Here's the most recent example (but not the only one) that I remembered:

"So we're supposed to take the word of some lefty blogger etc?"

LOL.

You don't see the difference?

The lefty blogger:

By Ken Gude, Guest Contributor

It was his opinion on a lefty site.

If the OP wanted to say "check out this guy's opinion", fine. But the OP presented it as fact.

In my post linking the testimony of Bergdahl's fellow soldiers I presented it as that - the soldiers' remarks . Whether their own words are on one site or another is of no matter, it is their own words.

If you've got something you want me to address, just point me to it.

I have no PC or internet access at home, only at my office. Consequently there will be periods of time I have no access here. If the thread has a lot of posts I often miss a question from a day or 2 or 3 ago because I didn't see it. Some threads are simply too large to read all posts.

You directly accused me of being a bigot (and some other shit that I can't remember) maybe a couple of weeks or so ago. I said prove it and you didn't have the courtesy to back it up so, "blah, blah, blabbity, blah".

No. I'm sure I did not accuse you of being a "bigot". You must have me confused with another poster.

Um, there's this thing you take when you join the service called an oath. Desertion is a violation of that oath. Maybe that has no meaning to you, but to a fair few who put on the uniform, they view that oath as sacred. The oath doesn't cover any exclusions for one thinking that what one is doing is pointless. It's perfectly fine to think the war is pointless, but if you do then don't join; it's not like he was drafted.

Thank you for showing everyone on this board your character.

Oh? Which war did you fight in again?
