back to tdkr...the orphanage is called st swithin's, and there are several mentions in tdkr. As they say in the movie, there are no coincidences...

There's some kind of inside joke or nod there. Kinda curious what it is. Its too obscure to be a coincidence. Also, i like the billy bragg song.

My GF's conclusion (since we never see the necklace on catwoman at the end) is that Bruce put the necklace in the batcave and then gave Robin (JGL) the GPS transmitter so he could find the batcave.

I refuse to believe that Bruce left it on Catwoman so that Alfred can find them, because that totally destroys the scene where Alfred tells Bruce that is his dream.

For me, it is clear that Alfred is surprised when he sees Bruce sitting there at the end, which is what makes the scene so powerful. Bruce said "Bye" to Alfred yet found it important enough to give Alfred some closure.

The TV menu describing what is on (at least on Fios) isn't even accurately reflecting what they are showing. I went through NBC, CNBC, MSNBC and a few others last night and DVR'ed what looked interesting. This morning, I see womens volleyball instead of field hockey, and men's gymnastics instead of women's weight lifting. Don't judge my choices, just sayin'!

Nolan isn't making more Batman. I don't see other directors taking up Nolan's work (not their own), and turn it into Robin franchise.

Also I don't think Robin franchise will sell at all. Too weak of a 'brand'. It won't do well in US and no one will watch it outside of US.

not as well-known of a character, but it's a cool concept and doesn't come burdened with the sidekick stigma.

Looks fine to me. They should have done a full mask to cover head and hair, not just the face. Agreed on why they didn't include whip and claws. at least in one scene. :\

What I thought was odd about her Catwoman is that... she doesn't really feel like Catwoman. I think that's more of an issue with the script than her acting, because essentially... I don't think the script ever comes out and calls her Catwoman. There were numerous references to "cat" (in newspaper articles, etc.) and the fact that she has the same name as Catwoman (Selena Kyle).

I guess you could say that it's more of a re-imagining of Catwoman that doesn't really go along with everything that we're used to.

she didn't really have that unhinged personality to morph her from cat burglar to Catwoman.

It was good, but nowhere near as good as TDK. I dont think the script was quite as good, but my biggest problem was with the villains.

Specifically, Talia being revealed as who she is, ruins Bane. During the whole movie, Bane had been built up to be this bad ass, who feels no pain, who escaped from the prison, etc etc. Then, right at the end, he is revealed to be Talia's bodyguard. And then Selina takes him out quicker than an anonymous cadet on a Star Trek episode vs the Borg.

And I think thats why I prefer TDK - the Joker. I liked Bane, although like some I couldnt hear him all of the time. He was pretty menacing. Its just that the ending made him far less menacing, because he went from a terrorist with a mission to a puppy dog bodyguard. The Joker, on the other hand, is as much a symbol as Batman is - he is pure chaos.

It did plod along in some places, too.

I think of it more like this - Until the point you find out who Bane really is you are meant to think he is a terrorist so he is made out to be one, after that point the villain mantel and terrorist focus is passed to Talia and so Bane just gets out of the way, thanks to Catwoman. It makes sense to me.

Also, not spoiler tagging it because if you're this deep in this thread you're fucked now.

I found it funny that batman could get into gotham and set up his little bat signal on the bridge without anyone noticing...

It's a movie though, and a pretty good one. I give it 7 or 8 out of 10.

Catwoman was much better than I expected her to be.

Much better. I hadn't expected much.

The inclusion of catwoman and robin really is a sign IMO of Nolan just getting tired of the series, since a big part of batman begins was stripping out the "campy" parts of batman.

I felt that overall the performances weren't as intense as the first or second movie, something about the actors just seemed a little too relaxed. The writing isn't as poetic as the first two movies, it's just not as tight overall. It's more sprawling and grandiose.

Didn't like the batwing at all. It's clearly CGI, while the cool part of the batmobile was that it was a real operational car.

Also, hate to say this, but I suspect that the Aurora shooting will overall knock like $200 million off the value of this movie due to "stigma"

I myself already had tickets when Aurora happened, and I probably would have skipped it if I had the option.

It wasn't all CGI. I saw a featurette that showed a model that they used for shots suspended above Bane's trucks.

I myself already had tickets when Aurora happened, and I probably would have skipped it if I had the option.
