Wait, there's a hassle to installing NVME? I was considering that for my next SSD but don't want a 'hassle'.
It (kind of) requires three or four hands. One to hold the screwdriver, one to hold the NVMe in place, one to hold the magnifying glass so that you don't lose the screw, one to hold the screw, etc.

It CAN be a bit of a PITA, the attachment screw is VERY tiny.

A magnetic tip screwdriver makes all the difference (just like it does when putting screws into the motherboard standoffs. Otherwise, it can be tricky.

u know we're computer geeks in here right, if we had new parts to install and play with, i'd install that motherboard with a pen if i had to😉

Oh, I know.

I've done plenty of computer builds even when I had to use a regular screwdriver. Although I admit there are a whole lot less F* bombs when I take the time to have all the proper tools at hand. Not having to fish out tiny screws that always seem to fall into the worst areas is nice.

*F = fantastic bombs 😛

Even with a magnetic-tipped screwdriver, I always seem to inexplicably drop screws that somehow wriggle themselves into the furthest neither-regions of the case I'm working on, like between layers or something. 🙁 (*Ok, grab entire case, tip up-side down, and do the "Shake, shake, shake", until you either hear it drop, or roll around again.) Yeah, it happens.

Hmm. With a "pen", really? DId you happen to star in a Verge video about PC building, by any chance? 😛

Anything to avoid the hassle of installing an NVME drive thats 6x as fast as a SATA SSD. i can't believe the dude said installing faster hardware was a hassle haha.

I have installed several and they are trivial. The only PIA is when the mb has it on the back and you have to take the motherboard out to add one after system is setup or replace. Not sure if itx boards are still putting them on the back; but they were the last time i needed a new mb. Btw there are two types of nvme - pcie cards and m.2 - pcie are of course a lot easier to install because they aren't on the back of the mb 😉
-
Btw you want a pia try mucking with a wireless adapter for a nuc. The actual m.2 adapter is fine those antenna wires can be a bit of a pia.
-
Anyway i have a few older systems i have to muck with (parents pentinum pc); so for those sata are a lot easier to deal with since they don't have m.2 slots.

Id put $5000 on you never installing an NVME drive. The "hassle" lol.... responding to this post is a hassle.

bro... i wasn't the one saying that installing an NVME drive is a "hassle". oh wait maybe i did?

The hassle of installing an nvme drive... Lol

Because of the hassle I'm just gunna sticknwoth my trust 3.5in hard drive from 2001. Shut this thread down no need for ssds at all, too much hassle

You are continuing to derail this thread.
Next one gets that person a vacation.
