Patriot 2TB SATA 2.5" SSD $187.99
Wow, dipping below $200 for 2TB. I'm going to make a bold prediction, that we'll see (QLC-powered) SATA 2.5" SSDs, 2TB, for under $160 this year.
I'm really thinking about one, or perhaps two, next month, for a Steam drive. I don't own a lot of games (yet), so even a cheap 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD would be fine, but I much prefer SSD, for a multitude of factors.
Would it be wise to wait, possibly, for the prices to come down more?
Edit: I think that I'll probably just use the 2x 1TB NVMe SSDs for my two Ryzen R5 3600 rigs, for now, and wait for prices to come down some more. Even with 2TB (RAID-0) in this box, I'm only using 500GB, and that's because I have like 5-6 Steam games installed, and some downloaded Linux ISOs.
I need to consider re-formatting my drives and starting over fresh soon. I think that I have some multi-partite malware, some sort of APT (look those up, they're nasty). Not sure how many hosts on my network are afflicted, possibly my NAS units too. Not sure what to do about those.
Anyways, I now have two Ryzen R5 3600 CPUs, with my main rig has 2x 660p 1TB NVMe SSDs, and the other PC has a 240GB TLC SATA SSD as primary OS drive, and a 4TB spinner for extra stuff.
Was thinking of re-configuring the storage, getting 2x 2TB SATA, putting one in each PC as the secondary storage drive, and then splitting the RAID-0 and re-allocating the 1TB NVMe drives, one to each PC.
No AMD RAID driver BS, fresh Win10 2004 edition. I should probably move the GTX 1660 ti cards (all 6x I own), onto a dedicated mining frame rig, I have almost enough to put one of those together. Then stick something low-powered into my main rigs. That way, I can isolate the mining rig software onto a GUEST wifi connection, and keep it off of my main LAN, and hopefully keep the viruses out.
