Unless, 4 sticks still runs in dual channel mode? Looking at my board's manual, apparently it does. I also realized I'm not even running in dual channel mode cause I misintepreted the stupid graph. Been running single channel mode for 2 damn years! 😡

Also, did you use the included thermal paste, Anomaly? Did the directions say to spread it? If so, did it come with a spreader?

I assume you are changing some BIOS settings? 😛

I put a nice even coat of thermal paste on the CPU and some along the edges of the heatsink where the pipes were...

On "boot to post" it was at 39c constant outside the case, just the cpu fan going...

Ok, but you didn't really answer my questions.

Shouldn't have to, but I'll check bios settings. My board is labeled DIMM 1, 2, 3, 4. Supposed to be either 1,3 or 2,4 for dual channel. I'm using 1,2...

My manual:

Let me try again...

From the manual:

4 x DIMM, max 32GB*, DDR3 1866/1800/1600/1333/1066 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory Dual channel memory architecture...

Paste did not come with a spreader, I used a plastic bag and my finger tip...

Heh, yeah I see. The manual isn't very specific. Rather poor of CM to do that. I'd think your temps would be lower though. Maybe once all the case fans are going it'll drop.

Tons of MBs can run dual channel with 4 sticks, or triple channel with 6 sticks. His definitely does.

I just did a thin line the last 2 times I have installed HSF on CPUs, but I used to spread with a plastic bag on my finger and it always looked much more messy than you did. I guess mine used to look like on the HSF base, but the paste on your CPU looks much more smooth.

About the temps, yes I neglected to look careful at the pictures before I asked. Only 1 MB sensor and no ambient was recorded, but that's probably good enough if you check it later in the same room with same thermostat settings.

The main power connector from your PSU is sleeved in the same material as the other cables right? It is hard to tell from the slightly grainy picture, but it just looks so colorful that it made me wonder if it wasn't for some reason.

You should edit the first post to include your model/part numbers, since they aren't in this thread.

Lookin' good so far!

A few comments: the sequined monitor is amazing, as is the table. I am suitably impressed!

But seriously, I think you used way too much paste on your HSF and that's why your temps are a bit higher than normal.

yea the layer did look a little thick, you might try reapplying, remember just cover ONE surface, (usually the HSF but depends on your preference) and use that no need to cover BOTH.

Oh man, I already have the MB screwed down with everything on it...

...should I get it all running, in the case, with all the fans going and see how hot/cool it's running before I do that?

Is 39C...HOT?

upper 20's-mid 30's is norm, but because you were outside of the case it might be a little higher then norm. i say get it up and running check the temps, if they are still too high for your liking then go ahead and try reapplying the TIM.

It's not hot enough to warrant ripping the whole thing out IMHO, just something to be aware of for next time.

If that's his idle temp...it's not really too high... depending on his ambient temps. He IS in Fladah...mine usually runs between about 28 and 32 at idle.

I'll be interested in his load temps once he's all done building and runs some Intel Burn Test on Maximum for a while.

My thoughts as well.

lol jesus this guy is still building his computer?

takes like 30 mins tops; talk about dragging on...

Please stop thread crapping. Thank you,

What the shit kind of crap computer are you building? My last build I spent 6 hours on, granted about 2 hours was spent on f*@^ing with the case and wiring but it took 6 hours from unboxing to a full W7 install and a stable boot.

lmao are you serious?

i had my PC booted in 30 mins and i'm a complete noob.

here's my parts:

HAF 912
LG DVD Burner
SAMSUNG 1TB HDD
GTX 570
ASUS P67 PRO
G.SKILL 2X4GB RAM
2500K

i dont think that's a "crap computer"..

1. you have no power supply? most work really well 😉
2. I'd like to see your airflow and cable management, I like to do things right the first time.

airflow my butt, all my parts are running perfectly cool and stable under load; cable management is irrelevant to me theirs no window on my case

obv i have a psu (antec earthwatt 650w)

i dont care if you spend over an hour building your comp; but dont pretend thats the norm, most normal people get it done within 40 mins
