True, but my ghost will haunt you beyond my death. Sorry, you're stuck with me pal![]()

Norwegian Wood is a brilliant song. Yellow Submarine... wow. I mean, it's an OK song, but even just within The Beatles catalog, I could name at least 30 songs I prefer.

the beatles singlehandedly had the most influence on modern music today. and most of their music still holds up today. they are timeless

My favorite Beatles song was nothing but a poor remake of an Isleys Brother song (Twist & Shout) Yesterday is a good song, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. They sold a shitload of records and were a good band but the praise they get is crazy. But they're worlds ahead of Elvis who's almost up there with them in terms of record sales.
Crazy to think in a few years Mariah Carey will have broken just about every record they set, and in a fraction of the time it took them.

And OMG Frank would have hated you for lumping him into the same school as some English jungle music punks like the Beatles (his own words would have been far far harsher so please be kind).
Still, when it comes to (in the words of the late great Ahmet Ertegün, founder of Atlantic Records) "Black American music and the white imitation thereof" (and in this specifically the latter), I have always been a fan of the Rolling Stones, Cream/Yardbirds/Led Zeppelin, and the Doors, before the Beatles.
I think that's because the Beatles were a bit too much of the "white imitation thereof" for my tastes. Meh.

their hits were ok. but yea there was a lot of crap
The beatles came into their own talent wise with the Revolver album and every album since that one was genius. Only a knuckle dragging bunghole yodeling moron would even think to compare them to a Boy Band. There has yet to be a band that compares to them.Originally posted by: Atomic Playboy

The Beatles were like the 60s version of a boy band. Campy, sappy songs about love designed to appeal to a predominantly young female audience. Granted, they had much greater musical talent than the guys from Backstreet Boys or N'Sync (remember when bands could play instruments?), but a lot of their stuff, especially in their early catalog, is sappy and ridiculous. I can think of lots of music I'd rather listen to than The Beatles (never been a huge fan of the Stones or the Doors personally, though I like some of their stuff).

IMO, the beatles have a handful of pretty good songs and a pile of awful ones. And I like many types of good music, from Bach to Miles Davis to Sinatra to Rush to the Decemberists.
