 that doesn't make sense...

if you don't use it, you certainly do have it...if you do spend it, you certainly don't have it anymore.

Bah technicalities.

It's real simple. You make money to spend it. Have a nice house ? Then you "have it". Have a crappy house ? I don't care how much money you have in the bank, it's useless there. Enjoy your earnings.

Don't hoard it and say you'll spend it when you're 50, balding, and/or wrinkly.

I respect finance people for their wisdom on how to generate more money... but the other side of it is that some/most of them hoard it too. Really... what's the point ?

I share your philosophy. Might as well live it up while I'm still young and capable of crazy partying. If it means I have to work 5-10 more years to retire, than so be it. I won't have much to do then but work anyways.

Salary
minimum of 80k

Combined household is around $130k (me and g/f)

Retirement
At least 15% in 401k and another 10% in other investments

Company match (5% for the past 7 years) and some other small investments

Credit Score
At least 750

right at 700 now which took some work after college

Live paycheck to paycheck?

No, at least 6 months of disposable income saved at any time

4 months worth expenses saved just in case something happens

Hours worked per week

40-45

usually 50-55

Hours of sleep needed

6, any more than 6 and they are actually more tired, never 8 hours

8 if I can but I like to be busy

Either we have a lot of very successful people here or we have quite a few exaggerators, what do you guys think ;). Feel free to post your own ammendums!

The anonymity of the internet always bring out some but most people on here don't really care. I don't care because I am very happy at this point in my life.

Salary
Nope - not even really close.

Retirement
Every penny is going toward the kids right now. Once they're school age, I'll be back on track for retirement funding. Pre-marriage, I was at 12%.

Credit Score
Low 700s, last I recall

Live paycheck to paycheck?
No, not really, though the last year's been tight, with a new house and a new kid.

Hours worked per week
40. Almost every week. I work more any chance I get, since it's easy money - overtime rules.

Hours of sleep needed
6 is about all I get. I'll take 8 any chance I have though.

As others mentioned - I'm sure there are plenty that do well here - I think the average technically-minded US citizen has it pretty good these days. The bulk of the population here isn't dock workers. That said, I think there are a lot of people who don't fit that gauge, but the ones who do are much more likely to be vocal about it. It's all about the epeen on the internet.

If you're making 75k a year but drive a 10 year old beater and live in the bad part of town so you can retire when you're 50...

Honestly there's a lot of grey area. Think of it as a continuum. On one end you have people who overextend their credit and spend themselves into poverty to have a good time now. At the other end you have people living in poverty now, even though they don't have to, because they're saving for some sort of long term goal, usually early retirement. Somewhere between those two people lies the happy medium.

Edit: I should add marriage and kids changes this a lot (of course), but I was originally talking about saving while young and single.

I'm saving money for 1 big thing right now. I have a goal, then I'm going to spend it once I reach that goal. Hoarding is making good money but just being frugal every day of your life because you'd rather save than indulge. Surely there's something you want out there, go spend for it. And tomorrow there will be something else. Go for that too.

Now if you have kids, you can work towards a college fund. The hoarders will just save and say "oh yeah, it can be for that too." Bullsh!t... you just don't like to spend money. I feel sorry for them.

I'm a student so i dont make much of anything. Enough for entertainment and what not but everything else is loans/parents. Although now that im going to graduate school, it's all loans.

Not really sure what my exact credit score is, but it's decent. Only debts are my school loans, no late payments etc.

I guess no one wants a translation to that. Oh yeah, I'll be one of the lower rungs of the ATOT ladder with those figures.

A more true post has never been written!
But the OP forgot to mention how all ATOTers are Stock Market geniuses as well.

I call SHENS on well over 1/2 of those who have posted with their figures!

As for me, none of it is anyones business but my own, but I will say that 8 hours of sleep a night is not even enough for me.

Certainly not! If you move over to love and relationships I believe the poll for the average amount of partners so far is at least 5 if not closer to 10 good sir!

I only make 45k.

Credit score is around 700 last I checked.

Only about 1 month and a half disposable income

30 hours a week average off season, 70 hours during tax season.

Sleep = 6. 7 or 8 and I don't feel so well, but 9 is good. I think its just my rem cycle or something.

Partners had, 2.
