I had a productive day yesterday

About 3000 honor
I joined a 3v3 team and went 4-1 (the team did the rest of the matches and went 2-3 without me). I got 1524 personal rating, team has 1440. Do I get points based on personal or team rating now with the S4 changes?
Raided Kara before reset, I only was able to stay for Prince. I got T4 helm and the Ring of Thousand Marks.
Did all my Isle dailies too.

I got about 30% of my paladin's last level AoE farming the Ruins of Karabor. Would've probably finished if I didn't pass out for most of the night. Although, I did kinda cheat and use my priest to heal me ! Although I kinda prefer killing the Eradicators rather than the Supplicants, because the Supplicants sometimes come with less HP and I only get maybe 800 experience per instead of 1000-ish. I also killed the one elite demon hunter... ugh, he took forever and kept mana burning my priest :|. So yeah, we avoid him from now on.

EDIT:

If I remember correctly, you get points based on your team rating. Your personal rating will help define what gear you can wear and stuff.

I think it is team rating. BTW, you need at least 10 games per week for arena points.

No you need 30% of the 10 minimum or more matches played. I had 50% (4-1)

It's always a fun thing when you play your 3 or so games for the week and the team goes on to play more than 10 games. :| Pissed me off immensely as I even asked if this other guy on the team roster was going to play and I was told that he had another team he played on.

How do you heal in a BG? I was using the shift+v to see close members. I always managed to be the #1 healer in the 3 BGs I did (2 eots, 1 AB). are there good mods for pvp resto druids? I was using raid style healing in tree form mostly - regen + swiftmend, regen, lifebloomx3, regen, regrowth, natures swiftness + healing touch....

is there a better strat?

I wouldn't be sitting there in Tree of Slow form. You most likely have a heavy resto raid healing build, which doesn't provide the versatility of a build like where you have Feral Charge and Nature's Grasp. Just roll the hots, baby... just roll the hots.

I use Grid for PVE and I also use it for healing in PVP.

yeah that sounds about right. maybe ill look into a pvp build. I see what you mean about ToL but when I was defending a tower, it worked out nicely. I'll look into Grid.

So, wonder how those complaining about getting spaceships and lazer beams with the last expansion are going to fell now that we have harleys in game.

WotLK Mounts - The Hog "confirmed"Two days ago I talked about the Wrath of the Lich King Mounts and mentionned in the post the new motorcycle mount called "The Hog". I didn't expect it to happen that soon but it looks like the item related to the mount is now unlocked on beta servers! For the moment I'm not really sure if this was caused by a GM testing it or if players can already get it in game but it's definitely here.
[*]The item is here, the mount isn't something temporary used in a quest or something and it looks like you can actually get an item and learn the spell just like any other mount.[*]You can also use it in Northrend and Outland.[*]As of today, it's not restricted to engineers and anyone can use it.
Of course, keep in mind that this is a beta version of the game and it could be changed in the future.

Blue postsQuote from Blizzard staffBlizzcon tickets lottery restrictionsAnyone who was able to purchase any amount of tickets before they sold out last Tuesday will be ineligible to win additional tickets in the drawing. We do understand that some players may have intended to purchase more tickets for family or friends, however, this drawing is intended to help out as many players as possible who were unable to secure any tickets on Monday or Tuesday due to technical issues with the store.
The drawing is specifically to give those who tried to get tickets (or had tickets in their carts) but could not purchase them due to technical issues another shot at buying tickets. This drawing is not simply a way of releasing 3,000 more tickets for anyone else that wants to go to BlizzCon. (Source)
Account password on beta serversIf we refresh the beta accounts from the live ones, you might get the new password instead. Until that time though, which is not to be expected, you should continue using the old password. (Source)
Length of /cower's animationThe current length of /cower is unintended. The animation length has been increased and will appear in an upcoming build. (Source)
Druid (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8788))Armor in Wrath of the Lich KingArmor is one of the most important stats a tank can have. We aren't trying to keep bears from getting it.
The change to itemization was done solely to avoid having so much diversity in the items we could drop. It's lame when you're leveling up to keep seeing quest rewards that are itemized for your spec (which TBH is still a problem we haven't solved for Feral weapons and idols). It's lame when your raid kills a boss and he drops say elemental mail, healing leather, and a spellpower mace, none of which your group can use. Having bears, cats and rogues all desire the same leather drops isn't a panacea -- it helps some problems, but it creates others. Having bears run around with as much armor as a rogue would be a big, big problem.
Fortunately there are plenty of ways to give bears the armor they need -- through talents (like the crit resistance one) or through Dire Bear form itself for example. Even if another tanking class ends up having slightly more armor than a druid, the differences should be so minor that neither of you is at a significant disadvantage on a boss.
I am glad someone mentioned the hunter example. I am really hoping you guys have the same reaction when you see the next pass on druid talents. (Source)
Hunter (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8788))GrowlGrowl sucks. We'll fix it.  (Source)
Boars and ChargeWe actually debated this issue quite a bit. In the end it came down to a call about whether it was more fitting to boars to keep Charge or whether it was more fitting for the boar to be a tanking pet. The tanking pets were all going to get Intervene instead of Charge, since it let them be more useful as an OT, and we didn't think it was worth the cost of making changes or exceptions to that design just to preserve boars Charging.
In the end, we decided that boars are feared because they are tough. They have leathery skin, a stubborn disposition and had a reputation for fighting on long after their wounds should have killed them. In short, they felt like a tank. We tried to keep the feeling of the old Charge with the bonus component to Gore.
It was very difficult to come up with a whole new system for pets without losing any aspect of the old system that might be important to players. (Source)
Kill Command changesKill Command was initially created as a reactive ability, something you hit when an event happened (a critical strike). The problem was that the event happened too often, and players just stuck it into a macro. Kill Command basically just became a flat damage increase. Players are right to assume their DPS has jumped because of shots not interrupting the auto-shot timer (it has, our tests show a ~140 DPS increase in some trials), so I think it's fair to say the class' sustained DPS will be okay. WotLK Cinematic at the Games Convention ?Yesterday, the following mail from the Blizzard's PR team was posted on Maxconsole.net
Just wanted to let you all know that Blizzard will be unveiling the opening cinematic movie for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King at the Games Convention in Leipzig. The cinematic will be shown at 1:00 p.m., Thursday 21 August at the Blizzard Entertainment booth (D01 in Hall 5). A Q&A session featuring members of the cinematics team will immediately follow.
Blizzard?s lineup of activity will also feature hands-on gameplay with StarCraft II and Wrath of the Lich King, Q&A sessions with members from the StarCraft II and Diablo III teams, and more.
The information was widely posted on other sites, including popular ones like Kotaku but I wouldn't take it as confirmed until we hear it from Blizzard itself on one of their official site.

You can preorder WotLK, but EB told me that they won't take preorders on the CE until they know how many they'll be getting. Personally, I just went to Wal-Mart, saw the box of CEs for TBC, and said, "can I get one?" They gave me one and I said, "hmm how about one more?" :p

If I remember correctly, Arena points work by you getting a certain amount which is determined by your score and bracket (2v2, 3v3 or 5v5). 5v5 gets more points for the same score than 2v2 does for example. Personal rating only helps define what gear you can use and if your team will have to compete with higher teams because of the offset between personal rating and team rating.

ok - how does this work? Does this mean I have to join the an arena game 10 times, but only play 30% of them, i.e. leave arena right after?

Bind life bloom, travel form, nature's grasp, and cyclone to random keys on your keyboard and smash your face on the keyboard. Might actually require some conscious participation to know which direction to run away towards when travel form pops.

Having the gear to regen 4000 mana per 5 while getting viper stung and mana drained in bear form helps as does lawl shapeshift out of any CC.

Had a blast this past week. Main hand warglaive completed a server first set for us, did a full clear of Naxx in around 4 hours marking a server second for downing Kel'thuzad, got to see and down Kael'thas again for a few people who still needed the quest on our server, and got to the 50% mark on Entropius despite a large number of mains being on vacation and us trying hard to form a proper group. Oh and bear runs oh my.

The fun just never stops around here.

One of our Sunwell team caster dps'ers got a shoulder enchant from Saph that was an upgrade :Q

Hmm I need to see if I can 3-man Vim'gol. I got an idear but I kinda need to finish that and they kill Soulgrinder to do it. I know I can three man Soulgrinder... my shaman can destroy those non-elite mobs in seconds. But I'm more worried about Vim'gol's enrage and being unable to stop it since I'd only have three people :p.

Oh and I wouldn't call beating a 60-tuned raid boss at 70 with high-end gear much of a server first achievement :p.

My guild on Mug'thol managed to kill KT 2 weeks before BC. When I xferred to Skullcrusher I was part of that server's first Naxx/KT clear as well (got the first Might of Menethil and Hungering Cold!). I can tell you honestly, even at 70, that fight still requires coordination and a good group of folks. There are a lot of random elements abilities that can wipe ya.

Can't wait to see what they do with him for L80 :D

BlizzCon Ticket Drawing Update - 8/19
Quote from: Zarhym (Source)
As discussed last week, we?re preparing a drawing to offer 3,000 more BlizzCon 2008 tickets for sale. We?re finalizing the process now, and you?ll be able to enter the drawing beginning Wednesday morning -- in the meantime, here is an overview of how the drawing will work:
[*]To be eligible for the BlizzCon ticket drawing, you must (1) have an active Blizzard Account that was created on or before 9:00 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, when we first announced BlizzCon 2008 tickets had sold out; (2) be an adult in your country of residence; (3) have not previously purchased BlizzCon 2008 tickets; and (4) live in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, or South Korea.[*]Prior to the drawing, we will hold an opt-in period during which you can enter an eligible Blizzard Account into the drawing for a chance to purchase two BlizzCon 2008 tickets. Once the opt-in period begins, you?ll see an opt-in feature when you log in to Blizzard Account Management. The opt-in period begins on Wednesday morning and will end the evening of Sunday, August 24. As this is a random drawing, those who opt in early will not have a better chance of being selected than those who opt in later.[*]After the opt-in period ends, we will randomly select 1,500 eligible Blizzard Accounts from the opt-in pool to receive the opportunity to purchase up to two BlizzCon 2008 tickets. If selected, you will be notified via email with further information about how to purchase the tickets.[*]Prior to the end of the opt-in period, please ensure the contact information (both email address and phone number) associated with the Blizzard Account is accurate and up to date, so that we may contact you if you are selected. To check and update your information, log in to Blizzard Account Management.
Please note that a Blizzard Account is an account created for the Blizzard Online Store -- as opposed to an account created for a Blizzard game, such as World of Warcraft. If you have any questions regarding Blizzard Accounts, please read our Blizzard Account FAQ.
We will announce when the drawing opt-in period begins on our website soon. For more information, please refer to our Blizzcon Ticket Drawing FAQ

WotLK Release Date
Keep in mind Mike Morhaime did say not that long ago that WotLK will be released between October to December of 2008. So perhaps you have a bit better of a range now. (Source)

WotLK Lore and Quests
Some Horde beta testers have been asking about why there seems to be a lot of Alliance only quests that related significant lore regarding Northrend, for example the changes with Mograine and the Ashbringer. It's true that the Alliance are learning a bit more of the lore while in Northrend, that isn't directly available to the Horde. The Alliance has a greater view at the lore behind the Vrykul. There's also a bit more that the Alliance is exposed to simply because the King of Stormwind and Arthas are both humans, or at least... were.
But then conversely back in Nagrand Horde players learned a lot more about Thrall's history, whilst the Alliance had little better to do than rescue some annoyingly dim-witted guy from a cage! Also talking in strict numbers only, the Horde have more Outlands quests and currently more quests in Northrend also. We'd like players to think about what "epic" quests they do have, rather than what they don't.
As an aside, more lore on the Ashbringer can be found in the comic book. The comic series is meant to compliment the game: events in the comics occur in the game as well. So this includes the King returning home to Stormwind, with the throne appearing and Bolvar moving to Northrend.
[...] we can move mountains when need be. Though we're starting off with floating necropoli and a magically transported city... :)
By the way, regarding Naxxramas, I just wanted to confirm that this would only be moved to Northrend and the level 60 version will not be available anymore. It's likely there won't be any achievements relating to the old Naxxramas, except there might be something related to Atiesh. (Source)

Druid (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8788))
Bear Form armor compensationBears need to be compensated for less bonus armor on leather and lack of parry and block. Period. We haven't added those talents or bonuses or whatever they are going to end up being yet because the game isn't in a state where we could say e.g. what amount of armor a L80 tank needs to handle Patchwerk. Pointing out where you think bears (or any class) fall short in mitigation (or any aspect of tanking) is helpful. This is a beta though, and there is going to be a lot of iteration until we're happy with everything. (Source)

Shaman (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8788))
Totem of Wrath Stacking
Totem of Wrath is currently stacking crit and damage. Sorry but this isn't intended and will be resolved. ;-) Also, we're possibly going to look at reworking this totem somewhat. (Source)
Mana Tide currently restores 0 manaBugged, will be fixed soon. (Source)
Ancestral Weakening healing the "wrong" person (See the post)The ability is currently bugged and developpers are aware of it. (Source)

Warlock (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8788))
New ranks for Demon Form abilities
There won't be new ranks, the spells should scale with level indefinitely. This is a bit hard to do for spells like the Shadow Bolt, because of the way Shadow Bolt scales in the game (it isn't very linear). Note that some/most of the spells right now do not scale correctly, and some are place holder. (Source)

Death Knight (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8788))
We aren't going to make a big dps pass on classes until talents have stabilized a bit and most of the bugs are knocked out. Last time we did one, DK damage was too high, but I couldn't honestly tell you if that was from a few bugs, a few OP abilities, talents stacking too well or something across the board.
If we had spent a lot of effort balancing say the old Frost Rune Frost Strike, that would have been wasted effort in retrospect. It's more important for the abilities to gel first then hit the numbers. (Source)
Black ice
Black Ice affects all Frost and Shadow damage and will continue to do so. We'll change the tooltip. (Source)
Plague Strike
The Blood Plague change would be in addition the current hot removal of Plague / Scourge Strike. It did seem stange to spam Plague Strike just to keep a healer from reapplying the hot just after your hit. That is why we went with a random chance on Blood Plague -- it will probably remove a hot on its own, but if you really want to make sure, go ahead and use Plague Strike again. (Source)
Scourge Strike upgrade ?We will probably add an Unholy talent to reliably generate Death Runes. That has proven to be a pretty fun mechanic. At the moment it would probably really only benefit a DK with Bone Shield and / or Corpse Explosion.
The idea of having Scourge Strike be an Obliterate upgrade has come up a few times, and it does have some benefits (especially if you do something like have Scourge Strike not remove diseases). It does turn Unholy into a rotation a little like Frost though, with the double FU ability on every other rotation.
I have had trouble figuring out how Scourge Strike as BU would work. It would be nice on times when you had Death Runes, but with a normal rotation, I'm concerned you'd see something like:Icy Touch -> Plague Strike -> Scourge Strike -> Blood Strike... er Icy Touch again?
You'd have a similar problem with the proposal to have Scourge Strike renew Frost Fever. Freeing up a Frost Rune doesn't help you that much unless you want to Chains of Ice.
There is also an idea to make Scourge Strike FU but apply both diseases. Then you could do Scourge Strike -> Blood Strike -> Blood Strike -> Obliterate, at least when in melee.
But... Heart Strike is pretty fun as a pure replacement for Blood Strike, so there is also a pretty decent reason to leave Scourge Strike as is. (Source)

The King of Stormwind? Unless you're referring to the original king, King Llane (that was killed by Garona), then no, he's not dead that I recall. Last time he was in WoW, he was on Alcaz Island in the sewers... it even says further down that he returns to Stormwind and Bolvar goes to Northrend .
