I was one of the lucky ones that got tickets. There was a big coordinated effort on my end involving about 10 people. We all did our part and several of us were working on that POS website at once. We managed to get our tickets about 30 min before they sold out.

I feel really bad for everyone that didn't get tickets though. Like you guys, I booked everything else ahead of time and it is retarded that a lot of people missed out due to website issues. If I were you guys, I would be filing charge backs if you do not get refunds on your reservations.

Could we get in trouble for filing a charge back as it's a back-handed way to getting a refund? Also, is it possible on a debit card.... I've only ever heard of it being done on credit cards.

30 minutes though? They were sold out within about 10 minutes of the tickets going available :(. Although some stated spotty availability, I kept refreshing and never saw them available again. Also, I noticed that Firefox had a ton of issues with the site. It was fine until you logged in, in which it just produced tons of errors... whenever you looked at Blizzcon stuff conveniently enough. During the 8PM final ticket sale, I literally got in and stuck on the legal page... it just kept saying that the XML page was "missing a character '<'". I never even had a chance to buy them :(. During the morning, the furthest I got was the page before confirmation.

EDIT:

Looks like after some googly searching, you really can't do that... so I gotta decide what to do in this manner. I have no idea what I could do in Anaheim for 5 days and all I know is I'd be miserable the whole time knowing I got fucked out of going to what I really was there for.

I wouldn't do it anyway. It isn't Travelocity's fault that Blizzard fucked us over. I refuse to do something immoral like that. Although I do think the fees are incredibly overpriced and the fact that it's nearly 2 months prior to the actual arrangements and canceling now is equivalent to canceling a day ahead of time? I think that's a bit off, especially since if I cancel now, people will still have more than enough time to grab the seats and rooms that I selected. Not to mention the flight I chose from O'Hare to LAX was pretty much full (maybe 4 seats open?). I doubt they'll have an issue selling out. I might call Travelocity to see if I can work something out with them... maybe reduced fees for doing it so early? I'm happy to get 75% back if I can, but less than 50% is a bit harsh :(.

Or maybe I need to find me a woman stat so I can make it a vacation!

"Hey, your birthday coming up?"
"Oh, it's in May!"
"Perfect, we're going to Anaheim for an early birthday present!"
"Yippee! You're such a good boyfriend /sex"

I win !

I would be willing to file a charge back because I think it is BS that I cannot get a refund for plane ticket or hotel reservation that is not even going to be used for a couple months from now. There is more than enough time to find another interested customer by then.

Well man, think yourself lucky you went at all IMO! I was signed up last night but they found better DPS and didn't need me as a tank so no dice for me. I didn't say much but I did almost gquit for a guild which is less well geared. Being in a well organized well geared guild is fine, but only if you're geared as they are.

That's one reason I enjoy PvP, because it's less about gear and more about skill. It's still WoW so gear is 50% of the character even in PvP, but that's better than 90% as in PvE.

edit: changed the %'s :)

I do understand that sentiment and agree that losing $470 out of $860 is pretty ludicrous when I'm canceling around 2 months ahead of time. Especially since there are possibly people that haven't made their Blizzcon reservations yet and would be overjoyed to get a good flight arriving Thursday in the afternoon and a hotel only 2 blocks from the convention center. Or maybe I could convince them to do the amount minus the fee and then some credit through Travelocity or something. I don't know if I'll ever travel again, but I think it could be worthwhile?

I'll have to give them a call tonight to see what I can do.

Oh and I bet that bastard Mike Morhaime is wiping his ass with Blizzcon tickets right now :|.

"We're out of toilet paper again, toss me another Blizzcon ticket!"

Well, I was pugging Kara and I can say that pugs generally do not like undergeared people... although being an "undergeared" OT is usually fine though as you're only needed for a couple points (Moroes, Curator, Ilhoof (maybe), [edit]Netherspite (maybe)[/edit] and a couple pulls that work better with two tanks). I go on my mage because he does between 850 and 1000 dps depending on how cheap I am to use pots and weapon temp enchants :p.

Although, I did have a PUG take my Shaman that was in half epics and the other gear was pretty much greens and blues. My DPS certainly wasn't bad and they were a bit surprised to watch it go up as I got some new gear :p. Although, I hate doing Aran on an Enhancement Shaman... 10-12% of my damage is from Earth Shock and Flame Shock and I have to sit there and attempt to interrupt him instead of doing a good rotation :(. Same with Julianne as well. I thought it was kinda sad how we had two rogues on Aran last night and I was still getting hit with quite a few fireballs and frostbolts.

Is anyone here using an Audigy2 or 4 or X-Fi sound card?

I am having really bad sound issues with it (I did not experience these issues onboard sound pre 2.4 when I played back then).

It basically sounds like someone turned up the bass in volume control so it sounds nasty. When many sounds are played at once (ie buffing) it sounds crackily and bad.
I tried disabling Hardware Sound, changing Quality and Changing the amt of channels to no avail

Audigy 2 ZS here. Are you using Vista? Creative now offers Alchemy for free to Audigy owners (even refunding the money from those who paid). Creative also updated their Audigy line drivers last month, so make sure you are running the latest.

If you are in vista, run WoW in XP SP2 compatibility mode and use Alchemy to install the needed files via its control panel to enable EAX support.

I want tickets :(.

It's just so annoying that I was literally there when they went on sale, but the site was so crappy and didn't work that I missed out on it. That's what bothers me about it. It's not like I was late to the party... it's like the door to the party was rusted shut.

I got another batch of pics for you guys. Let me know if any do not work for you.

This one was taken in crystal song forest which is a zone exclusive to Dalaran. No mobs here but it is gorgeous.
Pic 1

I was feeling patriotic so I stopped to take this one while I was in Grizzly hills.
Pic 2

If you try to go some place where you are not allowed to go then you get this debuff called "No Man's Land" which is basically Big Brother Blizzard porting you the hell out of there after a few seconds. Kind of funny.
Pic 3

This is me riding a drake past The Nexus as I was about to run the instance for the first time.
Pic 4

This is what The Nexus looks like when you first step inside. This instance is amazing. Tons of Malygos lore here.
Pic 5

This is facing one of several available paths to take when you first walk in. The Nexus is not a linear instance. There are 4 bosses. You can fight the first 2 in any order, but all 3 must die before final boss can be fought.
Pic 6

This is us walking further into the path you saw above.
Pic 7

First boss! He was a fun fight. The ground blew up all around us quite a bit.
Pic 8

Victory and loot!
Pic 9

Here is the second path we chose. The drop on any side here is seemingly endless. There are "rifts" and dragons in here fighting each constantly and we intervene.
Pic 10

Here is a shot of some of the trash in this area. Not my best shot, but it is my only one for this part.
Pic 11

2nd boss. He did a fair amount of group damage and I fear him on heroic. Flourish came in really handy here. Bring some shades...
Pic 12

Victory #2 and loot!
Pic 13

Victory #3 and loot! I suck and forgot to get a shot of her when she was alive. She looks like your typical blood elf. She flings the whole group around everywhere really fast which is pretty fun. It's much more than your typical knock back.
Pic 14

The final boss. He is trapped in ice until the 3 previous bosses die and we release him.
Pic 15

Here is another shot of him. He isn't too hard, but you cannot stop moving at all due to a stackable debuff that only goes away when you move. Melee and instant cast heals were really useful.
Pic 16

Our final victory and the loot! So far, I think this is my favorite instance.

Yummy.

This is not a bug.

In the latest WotLK beta push, we made a large change to the mana cost of spells. All player spells now cost a percentage of base mana rather than a fixed cost. Base mana is a special value determined by the player?s level and class, regardless of any effects or items that increase intellect. It is the size of a player?s mana pool if the player has zero intellect.

This change was made primarily to prevent downranking, as it's a technique that was never quite intended. Rather than continue to find ways to penalize players for casting low-rank spells, we decided to essentially make doing so obsolete. If rank 5 and rank 6 of a spell cost the same amount of mana, but rank 6 does more damage/healing, then there is no reason to consider casting rank 5.

So, each spell line (eg. Frostbolt, Shadowbolt, Greater Heal, Rejuvenation, etc.) has a fixed percentage of base mana that it costs for most of its ranks. That means each time a player gains a level the cost will go up some. The percentages were picked to attempt to keep the costs relatively similar to what they are currently in World of Warcraft. For most spells, that percentage will drop some when the player receives their highest-rank spell in existing Burning Crusade content. This was done to better fit the existing cost curve, and to keep the mana cost for level 70 players as close as possible to existing costs. Level 70 characters will see most of their maximum rank spells change in cost slightly up or down, but not by significant amounts.

We anticipate there being some balance concerns due to this change, and our development staff will be ready to implement new spells, abilities, or talents to resolve those issues as the testing process continues.

In most cases then... players won't even need lower rank spells. I think the only character I use low rank spells on is my mage and that's just Frost Nova and Scorch. But in this case, I downrank Frost Nova so I don't spend so much freezing mobs when I don't care about the measely damage. Frankly, I think FN should be reduced to one rank and have its cost lowered significantly to near rank 1 amounts. I don't know a single mage that uses a higher rank. I use scorch rank 1 only when a boss is pulled (and sometimes a mob) and I don't want to lay too much threat on immediately.

Oh and I looked up those Blizzcon tickets... I find it amusing that most do not give you the goodie bag....

Blizzard Gamers,

On behalf of everyone at Blizzard, I want to apologize for the challenges and frustrations you experienced while trying to purchase BlizzCon tickets on Monday and Tuesday. BlizzCon is about the positive experiences you all have had with Blizzard games. As a result of this week's events, the excitement that many of you felt about the show has turned into dissatisfaction and disappointment.

Due to these circumstances, we've reevaluated our convention hall space and come up with some solutions that will allow us to offer 3,000 more tickets for sale. We know this will not be enough to satisfy the very high level of demand for tickets this year, but we want to ensure that BlizzCon remains a great experience for those of you who are able to attend. To avoid the issues many of you faced this week, we'll be selling these 3,000 via a lottery. We'll post further details once our plans are finalized. Please note that the lottery will only be open to those with an active Blizzard Account as of 9:00 PM PDT on August 12, the time that the ?Sold Out? notice was posted.

I, and everyone else at Blizzard, share the frustration and disappointment that many of you have expressed as a result of this process. We'll do what it takes to avoid this type of situation in the future.

Sincerely,
Mike Morhaime

Just a quick observation: I was able to try out a Ret Paladin the other night at level 73 on the PvP server, and holy shit can they put out some burst atm. I was able to dish out about 8k burst damage to a shadow priest. Yes, I am aware of how their burst works, and the frequency...

However, after running around for a while, I can say it feels monumentally more fun and powerful than at 70 right now. I hope they don't bring them back into check... yet.

Looks like the ones with the goodie bag are going for about $1000 and if you just want the tickets they are going for something like $500.

Seriously though, fuck these guys. BlizzCon is not supposed to be something that you either need to get extremely lucky to go to or be really rich. This price gouging is ridiculous (burning stares towards Casiotech). I fully plan to harass any of these fuckers that I see performing an exchange while I am there. I'm sure there will be plenty in the crowds who will chime in if one of these guys is pointed out in public.

Expect nerfs....or fixes rather. What you are experiencing is most likely unintended. Ret pallies will remain very powerful I am sure, but right now they are really OP to the point of being broken it seems. I think it is just a matter of Blizz getting around to that point on their list of things to do. Regardless, I expect them to be a lot more fun than they were in TBC and that is what counts.

How can you even buy tickets on ebay? The ticket purchasing agreement specifically states that when you show up at the convention you have to have the original purchasing credit card, not to mention the name the ticket is registered to.

Yeah, I immediately thought that it won't last, or won't scale to 80, or whatever. Altho I was in the TBC Beta and played a Lock for a time... and that held up just fine for about 12 months after release or so?
