New Battlefield Blog Post: Community Wednesday #12

==================================================

** unverified **

Another Q key function: Chopper Pilot: basically you double tap Q (spot button) if you are a pilot and if you are targeted by a missile lock the pilot will say "we're locked bail" if you are not locked he will say "ok everybody out".

New Battlefield Blog Post: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam Exclusive Screens #1: The Huey Helicopter

* BY: H Brun
* POSTED : Sep 23, 2010, 08:33AM
Part I in an exclusive series on the vehicles and weapons of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam

Chopper_5F00_01.jpg

You know you're in Vietnam when you look up and see this.

The American UH-1 Huey helicopter is probably the most recognized of all vehicles from the Vietnam War. We couldn't possibly do a Vietnam expansion for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 without it.

The Huey in our upcoming expansion pack has four seats: one for the pilot (sitting on the right side), two M60 machine gun positions, and one seat for an extra soldier who can use his regular loadout while in the helicopter.

The Huey's main weapons are the two side-mounted 70mm rocket pods, making it a lethal tank killer. However, this vehicle can be damaged by tank shells, RPGs, and regular hand guns in the game, so don't get overconfident whizzing around with "Ride of the Valkyries" on the radio.

Chopper_5F00_02.jpg

It takes a brave -- or foolhardy -- enemy to challenge this base.

Chopper_5F00_03.jpg

Poetry in (still) motion.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will be released winter 2010. Stay tuned for more exclusive screens and info right here on the blog. In the meantime, check out these previews from Tokyo Game Show:

Well if you ever play with this guy...I'd just quit...was just messing around looking at stats and found this guy...so blatantly obvious that he cheats wow! I just got back from vacation..will have to play tomorrow...

Heh, I've actually played with that guy. Was on my team so I didn't notice for awhile. But yes, he is a blatant cheater. Hopefully he gets caught real soon.

so, following the same biz model that they did w/ the bf series but now no planes and smaller maps...kind of dumb to take away than to add...

the modding community is what kept the bf series alive and also bf2, unless ea does that w/ this version then it will die in less than a year and no way have a 4-5yr presence. guess ea would now rather have "fad" gamers instead of a following o_O

why make games that have like 4-5 yrs of lifespan when they can make more money selling new games every 6 months? it's in their best interest (business-wise) to make games that get old quick so they can sell more titles. it's in their best interest to not make games moddable. you will probably never see a title with the logevity of BF2 as far as they're concerned.

imho they are alienating those that made them what they are today. i was reluctant to get bfbc2 but did and have 44hrs in it and it was fun till about lvl16, and doubt i will get to 50. also doubt i will get vietnam and possibly not bf3.

maybe i am odd, but i don't game 4 or 5 titles at the same time, at max 2. guess they are developing for the adhd generation...:thumbsdown:

you would think it would be cheaper to maintain/optimize a game than to develop new so quickly.

some of that is probably is just going with how things are in the console world. they're definitely moving towards developing titles geared towards the console market these days.

has anybody been teleported in game before? Tonight I was sitting on Isle on defense and the next thing I know, I'm in the attackers spawn with my screen gray. Then on the 2nd set of mcoms, like 8 guys just spawn from a crashed blackhawk. Right After that, I the lost connection to server. Thought it was weird.

Hey, sorry for being a bit of noob there... Last BF game I played was BF2 and I never even managed to play online... :(

I'm finally building a system capable of gaming: Core i3-540, GTX460 768MB, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and a 22" screen with 1920x1080 resolution.
Would this allow me to play the game at decent frame rates and image quality?

This will be pretty good, especially in the GPU department, but be aware that BC2 favors quad cores, so if you were willing/able, I might go for an i5-750 if you didn't already buy the 540. Either way, you'll be ok. The 540 is going to be one of the better dual-cores for gaming.

R22 Server Released to Address Teleport Hack

Background

I hopped on yesterday afternoon to play and the first thing I always do is check my friends list. I noticed TimSad was on a server called "R22 Test" and this, of course, intrigued me. I joined that server and found Kalms and some PBBans guys, as well as some server admins (presumably of the highest-ranked servers which would indicate why TimSad was chosen to beta test, since he owns one of the top 10 ranking rush servers).

I asked what the patch was for and Kalms himself said it was an attempt at fixing the teleport hack. He did not have access to the hack and couldn't confirm but more than likely it would fix the hack according to him. That is why I put "supposedly" in the title.

Sigh, since going to the 10.9 drivers I've been getting random CTD usually after I die. I really wish someone would fix these issues for once so I could have good frames, and no crashes like I did back when I bought it. I guess I should revert way back and see if that fixes it. Never realized going to crossfire would create so many problems.

I can't use anything past 10.4 with my 4870X2 or I BSOD every time I try
to get into windows....don't even make it to the sign in screen. It really pisses me off, cause I play BFBC2 almost exclusively, and 10.5 and on are the ones that have the super short loading times. BAH! FIX IT ATI!

something else is probably wrong dude

I have the 4850X2 and I can run just about any of them, I just cant BC2 on anything so far except 10.4. I want to try the .9s with hotfix, but I dont have time to mess with it right now

You've tried 10.4a and it was a no-go, too? (the "a" is the load speed-up for BFBC2)

(Looks like ATI pulled all the links to 10.4a, maybe a friend of yours has it)

ucla: did you do a full uninstal/driver sweeper before reinstally the newest drivers?

nope, I've been lazy...I used to do that, but it hasn't been a problem recently....you're right, I should try that.
