So, I'm guessing they fixed the issue with the bronze star and the garand. At least I managed to get a star for it tonight. However it still won't give me the all weapon bronze..what gives?

They (DICE) keep saying it's not the SPECACT weapons, but apparently it is. People playing on hacked servers with SPECACT weapons get the all bronze award.

Possible changes in the works to "fix" Rush mode, where veteran teams prefer to just C4 the MCom rather than ever bother to arm it:

twitter.com/Demize99: "Engineers repairing MCOMs was tried in beta, didn't fix the big issue the community seems to agree on: C4 and mine instant are the problem"
twitter.com/Demize99: "While North America is still awake, perhaps the middle ground route of simply reducing the damage done to the crates by all weapons. Discuss"
twitter.com/Demize99: "It's not that I don't like the mine defuse idea. It's just not as easy as "AllowRepairToolDefuse == True;"
twitter.com/Demize99: "As a rule, I don't have a problem with C4/UAV. However, it seems that C4 is OP since it's easier to C4 a crate than plant."

My suggestion, if I could make it at the moment: Fix VOIP, and give an option to talk to your whole team! Then you could tell them in a timely manner that there is a guy at or approaching the MCom!
Plus, allow Engineers to disarm mines, and put an indicator on friendly mines so folks can tell the difference. (I hate when my own team blows up MY mines!)

==================================================

Apparently, the price of Battlefeld Bad COmpany 2 on Steam has been lowered to $29.95 (US).
Looks like a new "regular" price, not a sale price.

Yea I had a noob on Valparaiso last night as I'm defusing the M-COM the dumb ass decides to shoot the 4 anti-tank mines that were placed around the M-COM...and BOOM we both die and it destroys the M-COM...the attackers only had 3 lives left at that point but it was the last M-COM.

You wanna talk about rage...the server admin was playing on my squad and booted the guy after I went on a tirade about what he did.

But more on the subject, I would like if there was some way to know the differences between mines and as far as C4 on the M-COM well sometimes it almost makes it seem like the other team is cheating when all of a sudden the M-COM is destroyed and no one knows why. I agree it feels cheap but I do it too because you don't attract all the attention of planting.

Start with the original post in this thread. It has links to other noteworthy info.
Check out http://badcompanytwo.com/ , under the Multiplayer menu for some basic info on all the weapons and gadgets.

Watch some of these videos for some in-depth knowledge on how some of the more complicated things actually work, and other gameplay tips: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=1908504&postcount=6203

Upgraded to a GTX470 but now, sand, smoke, etc makes it absolutely impossible to see anything. Will switching to DX10 from DX11 make a difference?

I have all settings down to medium but didn't make a difference.

Welcome to my world...I call it Battlefield Dust&Smoke Company 2. Bout the only thing that helps is turning HDR/bloom/whatever you call it off. That helps somewhat. But the dust and smoke...I've just learned to live with it.

What I always wonder about is if all players see the same smoke & dust at the same time? Or is it randomly generated by each players client?
When I am being hampered from seeing the enemy, at the exact same moment, can he see me clearly?

It seems to kind of depend on a)where you've placed yourself (obviously) b) what side of the map your on.

Take atacama for example, it seems to be way easier to snipe from the Russian side than from the American side. Mostly because in some spots coming from the American side the dust is really bad.

New Battlefield Blog Post: Community Wednesday Update #7

* BY: zh1nt0

Community Wednesday #7

For this weeks Community news I am announcing a twitter exclusive competition. So if you don't have twitter, you should sign up and participate.

I've just gotten my hands on these amazing really rare merchandise from all our old games (going back to BF 1942). Now, since I don't want to keep these things for myself (only the cool stuff), I'm going to give this out to the Community. In order to participate, you need to:

1. Follow OfficialBFBC2 on twitter
2. Follow zh1nt0 on twitter
3. Follow instructions on the zh1nt0 twitter account.

This twitter exclusive competition is open for everyone and winners will be randomly selected out of all retweets. The higher your veteran status is, the higher chance you have of winning some cool apparel. This give-away will keep on going until I run out of stock and that won't happen in a while so I suggest you brush up your veteran statuses and get a chance to win some awesome stuff. The twitter competition will start at thursday the 5th of August at 10:00 CET and ends the same day at 16:00 CET.

For this week, I'm giving out a really cool nostalgic Battlefield 1942 T-shirt (Size L). It's signed with DICE autographs on the back :).

Also, as you already know, I play actively on PC and enjoy the game together with the Community on different servers and VOIP adresses. This is a great way for us to get to know eachother and it's also a great way of gathering info about the game and hear your opinions on it

==================================================

For when this thread fails you, now you can visit a new forum on the EA UK Battlefield Site: Members Helping Members. Hopefully, they will actually moderate out the griefers.

==================================================

twitter.com/zh1nt0: "This just in: The maximum lvl for vet status is 8 according to EA policies. Everyone over 8 will be reduced to 8"

==================================================

Possible new patch coming soon? R9/R20 Patch

Post proven false, but for those wondering if they are done with patching BFBF2, I at least have this:

zh1nt0 said:
We are working on a patch. Absolutely. I have not received an ETA for this yet.

Thanks, should have thought about turning off bloom and hbao. I'll try it later.

This is where I really noticed it. On the American side, I couldn't see a thing but was getting sniped.

I'm going to say yes. B/c when I played at DX9, I did not get any dust. Sad, if I have to go back to DX9 to get a competitive advantage.

i think the washout is only in that one new map... nelson bay conquest. seems like they didn't properly convert the night map into a day map without adjusting lighting.

Got a chance to play with different settings today. Turning off Bloom and HBAO cleared up the blinding dust and snow. It also raised my avg fps by 30.

Found that DX11 allowed me to see thru smoke sometimes while DX10 didn't allow me at all. DX9 was in between the two.

I've set up a somewhat different Bad Company 2 Server, if any of you want to try it out.
It's a 16 player server, setup up to play ALL of the Conquest, Rush, and Squad Deathmatch maps.

I call it "Maximum Variety". It's alternating Conquest (1 round, and Rush (2 rounds, attack/defend), with a Squad Deathmatch map thrown in every 4th map.

In addition, I have turned on friendly fire, because that's just the the way I think it should be played. One of the reasons people don't like to turn this on is because it causes your server to look like it's Hardcore. But, everything else on this server is set at default ("core").
Hopefully, this being on will affect some of the standard strategies people have been using in Rush, ie, mortaring or lobbing grenades or Gustavs in to the Mcoms where several of your team mates are guarding it.
And maybe tank drivers will learn to sit still in their tank while it's being repaired, or they won't be repaired.

Anyway, here is the server info

Search for "GFC" in the server name filter, and make sure Hardcore servers are not filtered out.

Feel free to use our TeamSpeak 3 Server at 64.34.171.212:9996

This servers tag line is: IN WAR THERE ARE NO RULES! If it's in the game, it's fair game. Adapt, overcome, or GTFO!

Sounds like a great idea. It can't hurt to set a date. The night we decided on for the Tugboat was Friday, so lets go with that. I'll see about setting an alert in the Steam group.

BTW, the server is in Dallas, so hopefully the connection will be good for most of us, like the Tugboat was.

As you know, once a server has a few people on it, it can fill up rather quickly. If you find it is full and you want to get on, queue yourself up, then contact me via Steam, or get on the TeamSpeak server. I will bump people I don't recognize, and Zargon's BFBC2 Callsign thread will be my reference.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Just a reminder before you miss the Steam reminder I set in the AT BFBC2 Steam group :D, tonight will be ATOT Game Night on the GFC server.

Stop by and mix it up. Would be cool to see some of the old faces back on.
Who's planning on showing up sometime tonight (it's not a commitment!) ?

BTW, I was playing with the server configs and until the server goes over 8 people, it will cycle through Conquest and Squad Deathmatch maps. Once it goes over that, the Rush maps will get cycled in.

Another question, the server control program has an available option for doing a team shuffle every time the map changes. It shuffles squads without breaking them up (I think taking score into account, to even out the teams).

Would you like or dislike this? (wouldn't be ready for tonight) Thx!

BFCast interview with BF Community Manager @zh1nt0 on GamersVerse.com

==================================================

Trivia: They have been out for a week, but I have yet to play either of the new Map Pack 5 maps. No motivation, reviews are bad ... :$

My 19" DiamondTron CRT monitor looks headed for the graveyard (had an instance where it flatlined for a few minutes), so I got a new 120Hz LCD. With the new monitor, I am having instances where alt-tabbing out of BFBC2 causes the system to "white screen". Have to kill BFBC2 to recover (Win 7 x64). Once I got a message from the Nvidia drivers (8800gt card) that they crashed and recovered from the error. Nothing has changed except the monitor, and the associated driver settings (res 1680x1050, Brightness/Gamma, etc.).
Haven't tried updating the video card drivers, I think they are 197.75.
Got any tips?

I'd love to jump on tonight. What time are you thinking? I'm in CA. I didn't get the game through steam, so I'm not sure yet if I got the invite.

I'd be down with the team shuffle. Would keep it pretty interesting. See ya on there tonight.

I guess I had a brain fart. I never posted a time here! :confused: I put 8:00 PM Eastern in the Steam notice, with no end time. I know there are a lot of west coast guys here, and if they don't show up until 8:00 PM Pacific, that's still cool.

You don't have to buy the game through Steam to get in to the Steam group. You just have to register on Steam, and join the ATBFBC2 group.

Hope to see you tonight!

Sweet. I get off work at 5 so I should be hopping on between 6 and 7(will probably be distracted by the end of the Giants game though :sneaky:).

Yah, I'm on steam but I'll have to join that group.

See ya tonight!
