cleared filters, searched for "gfc gaming.com" but didn't see it.

Edit: aah, capital letters matter

Had a few good games last night, and some messing around. Thanks to those that stopped by. I post another reminder for the next couple of weeks.

Anyone else notice they mentioned BF3 beta if you get into MOH? (it's in the news ticker) I didn't even know BF3 was announced yet

Played on a server where in a span on 45 minutes, 18, yes EIGHT TEEN people were banned, just by punkbuster. Maybe I'm not crazy wondering how many people are truly hacking in this game, especially on certain servers I've played on.

i doubt it was 18 during your session, they were just announcing the PB ban list that is being enforced. lot's of servers announce global PB bans in this way, and it doesn't mean it is happening live on that very server.

I suppose that makes more sense to me. Still alot of people.

And why cheat at a damn video game. I mean I play it for fun after a tough day's work. I mean really is your life so bad that you have to cheat at video games?

I had an old post that detailed new map/modes included in the last PC Patch. I saw some discussion today about the next map pack and decided to review this old post. The numbers to the left in red are the map packs released since this was orginally posted. I then made a prediction for 6 and 7 based on the few scraps of information (rumour) on the interwebs. I also listed the map pack release dates so far, and predicted release dates for the remaining maps/modes.

Now let's sit back and see how good these predictions are. I won't edit this message, under any circumstances. :D

Conquest
----------------
5 Nelson Bay - mp_008cq
4 Port Valdez - mp_012cq

Rush
----------------
5 White Pass - mp_007gr
4 Atacama Desert - mp_005gr

Squadrush
----------------
*6 Laguna Presa - mp_009sr
*7 Laguna Alta - mp_003sr

Squad Deathmatch
----------------
*7 Nelson Bay - mp_008sdm
*6 Panama Canal - mp_001sdm

Map Pack 1: March 2
Map Pack 2: March 30
Map Pack 3: June 9
Map Pack 4: July 7
Map Pack 5: July 28

Map Pack 6: *August 18
Map Pack 7: *September 15

LOL, everything I have marked for 7, was released as 3.

Therefore, my prediction for 6 is spot on!

After that, who knows...

I didn't even realize there was a conquest mode on Nelson Bay until I played it with you last night, LOL. I guess it came out while I was on vacation...I will say, though, that something is wrong with that level. There's huge glare through the zooms, as if the transition to daylight play didn't turn out right.

How's the GFC server doing, BTW? Do you think you'll be able to get regular traffic?

About the only weapon I use with a scope is the MG36, and yeah, it makes that just about unusable on that map. On other dark maps, it looks like daylight through the scope, which is nice. The red dot sites are unaffected.

I don't have much hope for the GFC server long-term, ATM. In my time with the "clan", we had our heyday with BF2 and the Desert Conflict mod, playing mostly Capture the Flag. Over time our members that loved playing that have wandered away to do other things. Recently, the clan founder having health issues, and not liking BFBC2 all that much, hasn't helped either.... We just don't have a player base willing to populate a server to get it started.

Whatever...we're only paying $1/month a slot for the server. I'l play around with it for a while and see what happens.

I see there is an option for disabling spotting on the 3D map. Seems like this would make spotting just like it was in BF2, showing on the map and minimap, but not in your face. Does this sound interesting?

I was thinking maybe recreating the BF2 experience, as much as possible, in BFBC2 might be a draw for some? Any comments anyone has would be appreciated! Thx!

I think you're right about the scopes...I was using the MG36 as well, and it seems like DICE forgot to code out the "daylight" effect used in the night map, so that you get a "really bright daylight" effect when the map is played in daylight.

Sorry to hear about the troubles on the server. I loved BF2, and I think I love BC2 as well, particularly for the lack of jet spamming, which eventually made BF2 essentially unplayable for me. If you can shut off the 3d spotting, that would eliminate one of my favorite tactics (shooting blindly at a spotted opponent in the bushes/trees and getting the kill), but would definitely eliminate some of the feeling of being shot by an unseen shooter that others have complained about. Go ahead and try it...I think it evens the playing field a bit. A spot should really only allow you to know of your enemy's presence, not kill him without seeing him (I hate to admit this, of course).

This is not new, but it's freaking common sense stuff that eludes a lot of BFBC2 players:

Vehicle Etiquette for those new to the Battlefield franchise:

- If there is someone ahead of you waiting for a tank/vehicle/chopper to spawn at your main base, let them have it - they were there 1st. Don't try to get in before they do - that just isn't cool.

- If you come across a tank/apc/vehicle that is empty BUT an engineer is repairing it - DON'T jump in, steal it & drive off - the Engineer is repairing it for a reason, and it isn't so you can steal it from him.
{MisterLister} DO Jump in and man the machine gun (press F2) to: 1) protect him as he repairs, 2) Allow him to get points for the repair, 3) and be ready to ride off with him when the repairs are finished.

- If you are a gunner in a tank/apc/vehicle & the driver stops at a strategic point for a second to repair it - don't switch to the driver's seat, steal it & drive off - you should be looking around with your machine gun turret & protecting him.

- If you are a gunner in a tank/apc/vehicle & the driver stops at a strategic point for a second to drop a couple of mines - don't switch to the driver's seat, steal it & drive off - you should be looking around with your machine gun turret & protecting him.

- If you come across a tank with a driver in it, and an Engineer repairing it - don't try to jump in the gunner's seat & stay there. Let the Engineer finish repairing & then let him get back in if he wants - it is nice to help protect the tank from the machine gunner's turret when it is being repaired - just isn't cool to stay there if he wants back in.

- If you are a gunner in a tank/apc/vehicle - ONLY SHOOT IF YOU SEE THE ENEMY - if you start shooting at a brick wall or something just for the fun of it - and you & the driver can't voice chat - the driver might think you've seen the enemy & stop/look around for them - this waste's time that you could be killing the enemy.

- If you are a driver & have a decent gunner, and you hear that he is shooting at something - STOP UNLESS YOU HAVE A GOOD REASON TO MOVE. Your gunner sees an enemy & is trying to take him down (if spotting is on, he should also spott the enemy). If in the AA Vehicle & there is a helicopter in the air, stop driving so your gunner can get a line on it & shoot. It is especially impossible for your AA gunner to hit the choppper when the AA Vehicle is driving over cratered roads, because the gun is not free floating/stabilized like most turrets. {Breitschwert}

- If you come across a vehicle with a gunner in it shooting at something, but no driver -unless you notice the gunner randomly shooting at the ground or something like a noob - DON'T JUMP IN AND DRIVE OFF IF THE GUNNER IS SHOOTING AT SOMETHING. He might be trying to take down a chopper, sniper, covering for the driver while he drops mines, or laying down surpression fire for his squad. Don't assume he doesn't know how to drive a vehicle & will be thankful if you drive him away from what he is shooting at.

- If you are a tank/apc driver - ONLY SHOOT IF YOU HAVE A SHOT LINED UP. If you think an enemy is 'over there somewhere' and constantly fire in that direction & hit nothing - the smoke from your big cannon & the dust from where your shells land blind your gunner. If you have a gunner that is good (you'll know because you are getting assist points for his kills) - let the gunner zoom in (they can see better than you) & get the enemy - don't block his line of fire with cannon smoke & explosions when you don't have the enemy in your sights.

- If you are planning on playing in a tank (gunner or driver), choose the Engineer class so you can help repair it. Repair from the side if under RPG attack, repair from the rear if facing enemy armor.

- If you are a gunner, and you & your driver come up against an enemy tank - don't just stay in the machine gun turret & fire at it - waste of time - get out & repair the tank for your driver from behind. When your wrench tool is cooling down - jump in the machine gun seat for a few seconds to see if there is an enemy Engineer repairing the enemy tank - and kill them (sometimes, they stay on the side rather than behind). If you have a RPG - shoot it at the enemy tank, then repair.

-If your tank or vehicle is getting repaired while you are facing enemy armor, don't back up and run over the engineers fixing it if they are behind you repairing. You should be facing the enemy head on (strongest armor in front), they should be repairing you from the rear (your tank provides cover). Engineers repairing you will keep you alive during a firefight - focus on aiming & landing your shots on the enemy tank to destroy it - backing up accomplishes nothing if your enemy is directly in front of you - they will still hit you if they are a decent shot.

- If you are a gunner in a tank/apc/vehicle & the vehicle has taken on damage - jump out & repair it when you get a chance (if you are Engineer) - the driver might be moving to a good spot to repair, so it isn't always best to jump out when the tank is moving. When repairing, the driver might switch to the gunner's seat to protect you - that means he's a good driver - when you're done repairing - jump in (driver's seat) just for a second & then jump out - the driver should switch back to the driver's seat then - and you can jump back in as the gunner & go get some more kills.

- If you are a driver and are getting repaired, stop driving and leaving your engineer out in the open to get owned. Unless there's a mortar strike coming in, your "Evasive driving" is next to useless, so stop doing it & let the Engineer repair you. If hit by a RPG or something, don't panic - the guy repairing you will keep you alive. Just look in the direction the shot came from (your HUD shows red on that side), wait for the enemy to peek his head up again, and kill him when he does.

-If your tank is not very healthy, in Enemey territory can't retreat & no way to repair it (you or close team mates) - don't just jump out & leave it there for the Enemy to repair & use against your team - go down fighting in your Tank & take one for the team (or, blow it up so it will respawn back at your base for someone else if you have the means to do so). {Breitschwert}

- Vehicles have multiple seats for a reason. Don't drive away as soon as you got in if there are teammates nearby - especially if they are running towards the vehicle, and especially if someone asks for a ride. {AryssSkaHara}

- Gunners - always look around (side to side, behind) for someone sneaking up on you with c4. Don't get in a tank/apc gunner seat if you are not going to do this - you will just get yourself & the driver killed.

- Drivers & Gunners - always spot (if it's enabled). Only takes a second, and it helps your tank mate to know who/what you are shooting at & where they are. If possible, spot before you shoot - just in case you miss.

- As a gunner or driver, use the camera view change (C key) and snap-view every now and then to survey your surrondings for someone that might be trying to sneak in and C4 you. You can do this while simultaneously continuing to fire on a target.

- If you can't drive a tank/fly a heli very well - go practice on an empty server. Don't try to learn to drive/fly in a game where you will just get your gunners killed, and weaken your team stragegically.

- Tanks/APCs/Attack Choppers are not Taxis. If you don't intend on using the vehicles as intended, don't take them & just ditch them when you get to where you want to jump out. This keeps them from other players on your team that will use them & strenghten your team, and the empty vehicle you leave on the Battlefield may be commandeered by the enemy & used against your team. {L33T_Thor}

I don't know how many times I've seen people do this on a rush server, especially with the UH-60. fucking idiots. If I was an admin on a server and saw you do that, insta-boot for that crap. Biggest annoyance and waste of time, especially in the UH-60 when the pilot doesnt tell the other 4 people he's going to ditch, he lives and we all die because we weren't expecting his to crash land. Definitely one of my biggest pet peeves.
