So, I'm guessing they fixed the issue with the bronze star and the garand. At least I managed to get a star for it tonight. However it still won't give me the all weapon bronze..what gives?
Possible changes in the works to "fix" Rush mode, where veteran teams prefer to just C4 the MCom rather than ever bother to arm it:
twitter.com/Demize99: "Engineers repairing MCOMs was tried in beta, didn't fix the big issue the community seems to agree on: C4 and mine instant are the problem"
twitter.com/Demize99: "While North America is still awake, perhaps the middle ground route of simply reducing the damage done to the crates by all weapons. Discuss"
twitter.com/Demize99: "It's not that I don't like the mine defuse idea. It's just not as easy as "AllowRepairToolDefuse == True;"
twitter.com/Demize99: "As a rule, I don't have a problem with C4/UAV. However, it seems that C4 is OP since it's easier to C4 a crate than plant."
My suggestion, if I could make it at the moment: Fix VOIP, and give an option to talk to your whole team! Then you could tell them in a timely manner that there is a guy at or approaching the MCom!
Plus, allow Engineers to disarm mines, and put an indicator on friendly mines so folks can tell the difference. (I hate when my own team blows up MY mines!)
I tried doing a search on the thread and it didn't help, but where ist he best spot to learn about the unlockable gadgets and how to use them? I'd check now, but work blocks gaming stuff.
Upgraded to a GTX470 but now, sand, smoke, etc makes it absolutely impossible to see anything. Will switching to DX10 from DX11 make a difference?
I have all settings down to medium but didn't make a difference.
What I always wonder about is if all players see the same smoke & dust at the same time? Or is it randomly generated by each players client?
When I am being hampered from seeing the enemy, at the exact same moment, can he see me clearly?

Community Wednesday #7
For this weeks Community news I am announcing a twitter exclusive competition. So if you don't have twitter, you should sign up and participate.
I've just gotten my hands on these amazing really rare merchandise from all our old games (going back to BF 1942). Now, since I don't want to keep these things for myself (only the cool stuff), I'm going to give this out to the Community. In order to participate, you need to:
1. Follow OfficialBFBC2 on twitter
2. Follow zh1nt0 on twitter
3. Follow instructions on the zh1nt0 twitter account.
This twitter exclusive competition is open for everyone and winners will be randomly selected out of all retweets. The higher your veteran status is, the higher chance you have of winning some cool apparel. This give-away will keep on going until I run out of stock and that won't happen in a while so I suggest you brush up your veteran statuses and get a chance to win some awesome stuff. The twitter competition will start at thursday the 5th of August at 10:00 CET and ends the same day at 16:00 CET.
For this week, I'm giving out a really cool nostalgic Battlefield 1942 T-shirt (Size L). It's signed with DICE autographs on the back.

Also, as you already know, I play actively on PC and enjoy the game together with the Community on different servers and VOIP adresses. This is a great way for us to get to know eachother and it's also a great way of gathering info about the game and hear your opinions on it

Welcome to my world...I call it Battlefield Dust&Smoke Company 2. Bout the only thing that helps is turning HDR/bloom/whatever you call it off. That helps somewhat. But the dust and smoke...I've just learned to live with it.
It seems to kind of depend on a)where you've placed yourself (obviously) b) what side of the map your on.
Take atacama for example, it seems to be way easier to snipe from the Russian side than from the American side. Mostly because in some spots coming from the American side the dust is really bad.
What I always wonder about is if all players see the same smoke & dust at the same time? Or is it randomly generated by each players client?

i'm pretty sure dust exists in DX9.
I've set up a somewhat different Bad Company 2 Server, if any of you want to try it out.
It's a 16 player server, setup up to play ALL of the Conquest, Rush, and Squad Deathmatch maps.
I call it "Maximum Variety". It's alternating Conquest (1 round, and Rush (2 rounds, attack/defend), with a Squad Deathmatch map thrown in every 4th map.
In addition, I have turned on friendly fire, because that's just the the way I think it should be played. One of the reasons people don't like to turn this on is because it causes your server to look like it's Hardcore. But, everything else on this server is set at default ("core").
Hopefully, this being on will affect some of the standard strategies people have been using in Rush, ie, mortaring or lobbing grenades or Gustavs in to the Mcoms where several of your team mates are guarding it.
And maybe tank drivers will learn to sit still in their tank while it's being repaired, or they won't be repaired.
Anyway, here is the server info
Search for "GFC" in the server name filter, and make sure Hardcore servers are not filtered out.
Feel free to use our TeamSpeak 3 Server at 64.34.171.212:9996
This servers tag line is: IN WAR THERE ARE NO RULES! If it's in the game, it's fair game. Adapt, overcome, or GTFO!
Sounds like a great idea. It can't hurt to set a date. The night we decided on for the Tugboat was Friday, so lets go with that. I'll see about setting an alert in the Steam group.
BTW, the server is in Dallas, so hopefully the connection will be good for most of us, like the Tugboat was.
As you know, once a server has a few people on it, it can fill up rather quickly. If you find it is full and you want to get on, queue yourself up, then contact me via Steam, or get on the TeamSpeak server. I will bump people I don't recognize, and Zargon's BFBC2 Callsign thread will be my reference.
Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
I'd love to jump on tonight. What time are you thinking? I'm in CA. I didn't get the game through steam, so I'm not sure yet if I got the invite.
I'd be down with the team shuffle. Would keep it pretty interesting. See ya on there tonight.
Handle is Leniz
I guess I had a brain fart. I never posted a time here!I put 8:00 PM Eastern in the Steam notice, with no end time. I know there are a lot of west coast guys here, and if they don't show up until 8:00 PM Pacific, that's still cool.
You don't have to buy the game through Steam to get in to the Steam group. You just have to register on Steam, and join the ATBFBC2 group.
Hope to see you tonight!
