Bah yeah I didn't mean "weak" as in "ineffective" (poor phrasing by me), I meant they're squishy (easy to kill). The UAV is actually rather an effective tool if used correctly (lots and lots of spotting between shots), but I think it should be tougher. If a machine gun is added as GullyFoyle suggested then maybe not.

Yeah I would agree with you there, I usually only get 2 or 3 shots off before being shot down, and sometimes only 1 against good teams.

Really sorry if this has already been brought up previously, but I'm getting terrible performance with BC2 beta on my GTX 295. I have to take shadows, AA/AF, and HBAO all the way off just to get a stable 60 fps. Anyone else having issues?

GullyFoyle, that is some good info you posted at 9. I'd like to see some more options for stopping tracert rpg's coming at my apache/tank.

I'd like to examine the arc the rockets follow to see if there is a way to hide behind something. Of course it would be best if you can get inside a building.

I read that tracer darts last 60 seconds. I'll be checking this out tonight also.

I think it's been said about a thousand times that the beta is not optimized and basically runs like crap on the latest hardware.
My friend has 3 GTX 295's running in SLI on a 30 inch monitor and he gets about 40fps with everything on high

Runs perfectly at max settings on my 955BE/4890 rig, possibly an nVidia thing. I have certainly heard a lot of performance complaints but almost all of them were from people with old shitty processors. What CPU are you running Scionix? If it's not a quad core then don't expect too much. The days of gaming with ridiculously powerful GPUs in machines with 4 year old CPUs are over.

I heard there was a driver update from Nvidia that helped with performance in this game. Might want to research it.

Finally shot a pilot out of a heli tonight. Got pretty lucky he decided to hover right there. ^_^

i7 920 @ 4Ghz :D (It's in the signature if you want more detailed information)

Pretty sure my CPU isn't holding me back :)

I'll go check drivers again, but the ones I have are only a 'couple weeks old.

You can do this?!?!?

I'm really trying to work on my sniping, but I keep wandering back to assault :D

What do you mean by "runs perfectly" and at what resolution?

I mean the framerate is like butter pretty much all the time (except when there is a lot of physics going on at once, it gets just a little bit slow). Resolution 1920*1200.

Ok so I would assume that you probably get around 40 fps on a general basis with a dip to about 15-20 during slowdowns.

If that is the case, then it may be "perfect" for you but generally that's pretty poor performance

I masturbate often enough without having to jack myself off with FPS numbers while playing games. I play the game, it feels smooth. If you want to be a pretentious dickwad then that's your prerogative. Now if you don't mind I'm going to go jack off. To porn.

Yeah, it's pretty fun. I just learned the glass isn't very protective.

and GA, wtf. All he wanted to know was what kind of frame rate you were running for comparison. Not like that determines the size of your penis or anything, so chill the fuck out and stop trying to be such a little bitch all the time.

Measuring FPS is the height of douchebaggery. Either a game is playable or it's not. End of story. Whether I'm getting 50fps or 40fps I don't care and neither should you.

I know some people really don't care, but under 60fps for me just feels awful for first person shooters. It makes a huge difference.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

This is what I found out about tracer darts tonight.

Tracer Darts don't stick to M-Com stations. They don't stick to buildings, or items in the environment like barrels, or the ground. They only stick to vehicles, people, and fixed weapons, like Tow missile and machine gun emplacements. Otherwise they just seem to evaporate.

Tracer darts attached to a vehicle disappear after approximately 45 seconds.

An RPG or Carl-G rocket locked on to a tracer dart then fired straight up into the air doesn't hit the tracer dart with pinpoint accuracy. I put a tracer dart on an opposing soldier and after firing several rounds into the air, he was still alive. It hit the ground "near him", dealing some damage, but not killing him in one shot.

I put a tracer dart on the Tow missile emplacement on the second floor of the construction site at the beginning of Port Valdez and fired an RPG straight up into the air and it arced and came down on the top level of the building, not hitting the target. There is no magical path finding function in the game. If you know where the shots are coming from, and you have buildings near by, you may be able to use them for cover for your tagged vehicle.

probably my connection, but anyone been experiencing a lot of lag lately?

Might also depend on where you are connecting to. I've been playing a good bit today and not experienced any lab. I also try to get on servers within a couple hundred miles from me.

I wonder if the parachute-less drop will be fixed in the final one. Just gotta hit space to open it, but kinda scary if you aren't paying attention just yet.

You asked for it! You got it (soon)!

OfficialBFBC2: "PC Beta Patch is coming very soon addressing Server Browser crash and other issues. Stay tuned!"

Weird. I'm not seeing this in my twitter feed, unless I click on the link directly.

Hopefully, the patch will fix performance issues but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

EDIT - That twit is from Jan 29!

Stupid re-tweeters. Thanks for the heads up.
