Like said before it seems it doesn't run well on Nvidia hardware and it's a Beta so it's obviously not perfect. It runs perfect on my stuff.

cuz it's meant to run well on console systems. zero PC optimization in beta, frankly pretty pathetic PC effort from dice, but what can we expect from a company that's gone over to the console side.

clearing trees on defense makes a HUGE difference in gameplay mechanics of the Port Valdez Rush map. attackers just become sitting ducks with the spotting function and no trees to provide cover.

most players just care about doing their own thing instead of being lumberjacks right now though, but I think it'll only be a matter of time before players start catching on and then mass complaining about Rush imbalance will ensue.

I'm running a stock Q6700, 2GB DDR2-667 Ballistix RAM, and an Nvidia 9800GTX+ and I'm on the standard "high" settings, and I don't have any performance issues. The occasional lag that may also be caused by my relatively crappy internet connection.

I'm using the "old" drivers for the GPU too BTW.

This is so true. When I'm recon I just mortar all the trees and the first two points become awfully hard to take.

If you clear all the trees the forward most window machine gun by the B-site house can see during the second push, you can rack up an ABSURD amount of kills from people coming over that hill.

Pins
Pins are rewards for completing certain pre-set objectives during a round of multiplayer. Insignia’s are much like pins, except they are milestone rewards. You accumulate stats and complete objectives over time, in hopes of unlocking the badge. It’s important to note that “Pins” are round based and “Insignia’s” are career based.
Bad Company 2 features 40 different Pins for players to earn during each round. Points can be earned each time you are awarded a pin. In the Beta, Pins are either worth 100, or 200 points. The same pin can be earned multiple times during a round (Stacked). When you complete one of the “Pin” objectives that DICE has set forth during a round, a small animation will play at the top of your screen in-game. Players can review all of the Pins they have earned at the “End of Round” screen or “Personal Stats” screen.

Insignias
Insignia’s are rewards for completing certain goals over your Bad Company 2 Career. Each Insignia has a nice “Badge” type Illustration made by DICE. Insignia’s are worth 5000, to 10,000 points a each and they are all objective based. Pins are very similar, except pins are round based, and Insignia’s are career based. In case you haven't noticed, there is a message scrolling at the bottom of the PC Beta screen:

EA said:
Backend maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday the 16th between 10:00-13:00 GMT, and 2AM-4AM PST. During this time Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be unavailable.

Hmmm...3 hours GMT, but only 2 hours PST? Are these regional outages?

Anybody play BFBC2 and use Teamspeak, with Push-to-Talk option?

It seems like BFBC2 takes exclusive control of the keyboard, and the keypresses can't be seen by TeamSpeak. This was different under BF2.
Tested with TS2 & TS3.

Was wondering if it was just me.

No I haven't cus no one seems to even be using mics in the game at all which sucks cus it's a game that definitely benefits from it.

Yea besides any squad I join never uses or has mics. Pisses me off because its hard to get anything done without teamwork in this game!

Yeah it is weird how quiet the squads are. I was wondering why that is. That said, I don't talk much because I'm waiting for someone else to. Maybe everyone's just waiting on everyone else like at a junior high dance.

On another note, doesn't the tracer dart gun seem a bit...phallic?

I *think* so far in the 3 matches I've ran [on the same server located in .CH] - someone is yelling commands out to the group [unless it's the game yelling "protect the f*cking bunker!]. :)

Eh - "pugs" in mp games remind me of pugs when I played WoW - complete disorganization and it's a matter of luck if you win or lose because nearly everyone seems to have their own agenda [trying to be top kills, trying to drive the tank, fly the helicopter, sniping from a mountain, etc].

You forget team killing to get a vehicle or destroying the vehicle if they weren't able to get it.

I read that the VOIP in the beta was "flakey". I guess you really won't know how much it works unless you just keep asking every squad you get in.

TS3 has been out around a month and a half. It's nothing revolutionary, if you ask me, although I have not tried to exploit it to its furthest.

Maybe it's just me, but when voice chat does work can you even see who is speaking? I had a couple cases where people would just leave the mic on, or ramble on, which is incredibly annoying so I turned off voice chat.

Also, this game has possibly one of the worst ways of displaying text written by people. Especially if you get an asshole that writes some huge thing that spans entirely across the screen. But really, mid/top left of the screen? Much prefer it a few clicks down.

I don't know which version to get. My PC:

C2Q Q8200 2.33GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM
512MB GeForce 9800GT

Is this enough to max out the game? I have a choice between the PS3 version and the PC version. So far, I'm really digging the PS3 demo.

I also suck at PC first person shooters; I generally get raped in CS: S, BF2, etc.

Your PC still has decent hardware and it all depends on what rez you play at and if you're willing to give up some visual goodies to run it at a decent fps. I bet medium settings will probably look as good as a PS3/Xbox. PC version is more than likely going to have mods that make it better and custom servers.

I've been able to use it with Teamspeak. I'll have to check to see what keys I have binded.

I was thinking about that, but I really get raped in PC FPSes. That's the biggest turnoff for me, haha.

PS3 since it seems you're having fun with it and have already stated you suck at PC FPSes

on a side note, I've been getting pretty comfortable with the game. reached Lvl 11 a couple days ago. have everything possible unlocked.

I started out switching between Recon and Assault, but now all I play are Medic or Engineer. usually play Medic when attacking and switching to Engineer when I either feel like driving a vehicle or trying to take out a vehicle. when on defense, I'm almost always Engineer with the Explosive Upgrade pack, but Anti Tank Mines are awesome when pushed back to the final two MCom stations. sometimes I'll go Medic with the +HP Regen Medic Pack and put it by a stationary MG while chopping trees down.

think Engineer or Medic provide better utility and support than Assault and Recon is a pretty weak class (especially when attacking) unless they're able to help by C4ing an objective down.
