Yeah BF4 still has that "mushy" or "sloppy" quality to it compared to BF3. My main gripe at the moment is that the sights do not point where the gun is actually aiming. This can be seen when using a laser - the reticle does not line up, especially when supressed or with recoil it gets way off. This makes recoil control and follow-up shots with high-recoiling weapons exceedingly difficult. As a result the only guns I use are the low-recoil rifles with muzzle break + angled grip. Any other combination leads to sight mismatch and frequent unexplained missed shots.

Name a current combat shooter better than bf4. You can't. You can go play all of your old stuff and live in the past. Delta Force, "Is that pixel an enemy? I can't tell." So many things wrong with what you posted that I won't be bothered going any further.

Several of the games I mentioned are current. For instance...BF3, Red Orchestra 2, and CS:GO. Many of the others are still played regularly by thousands of people. Unless you meant name a combat FPS that released after BF4 and is better, which I guess would be important if you stopped playing something as soon as something newer released, even if it sucked. "Current" also depends a lot on your age and perspective. CoD 4 is current to me, but it probably seems ancient to a 15 year old. Either way it's irrelevant. Games are either good or bad. I would way rather play a good 10 year old game than a crappy one that came out last month.

That's also why BF4 is so disappointing. I really wanted it to be great, and it should have been with the budget and experience of the studio. I'm not sure how they managed to make such a lemon.

This is one of the biggest issues with the gunplay. There's a complete and utter lack of vertical recoil (which is what actual recoil is...vertical). And instead there's this weird "gun jiggling" that happens when you fire and doesn't line up with any of the sights. I think it was a serious attempt to minimize the skill gap, by making recoil control obsolete and hampering precision shooting at the same time.

All it really accomplished was a mushy look and feel, which makes the gameplay a lot less satisfactory.

you need to go back and play bf4 again because there is a mix of vertical recoil guns and horizontal recoil guns. Also, skilled players know a trick or two about the gun sites in the game that give them an advantage. for one, the red dot on your optic site is not where bullets hit. the laser dot in the distance is where bullets will always hit. for some guns these two can be a half inch apart on the screen.

there is also a lot of strategy involved in attachments in bf4 to counteract whichever type of recoil your weapon of choice exhibits. maybe you gave up to early on bf4 because it sounds like you aren't aware of a lot of this judging by your descriptions.

Doing a fun test of BF4 this week on Windows 7 with my new i7 3770, got some major input lag in basically all my games in W8.1 and its driving me up the wall with what seems like no possible fix so far.

Got a 40gb partition of W7 installed and Battlefield:Hardline beta currently downloading, should be a fun evening.

Turn off Vsync? I've noticed that battlefield games can at times ninja turn Vsync on.

Naval Strike is terrible

I play mostly Conquest and had lowish expectations of the maps from the flak they've gotten in the thread but I quite enjoy them. There are some bad individual points imo (and the capture 'radius' on some of them I find too small or too touchy) but overall I like playing on them.

You see that, somebody who has actually spent time playing the game instead of taking the naysayers word that the game sucks actually *gasp* likes the game!

To the whiney c's who gave up on the game shortly after the admittedly lack luster release, stop shitting in the thread with your out dated opinions, and play the game now with all of the fixes that have been implemented. If you still feel the need to crap on the game after that, then you're probably just the kind of person who just can't be satisfied.

Bottom line, bf4, as it is right now, is a damn fun game.

Yep, blast them all you want for taking so long to get here. It's a valid complaint.

Complaining about the current state of the game? Sure it's got some issues, but they are all minor and the game is really pretty solid.

This is an example if how I should post. I get angry 🙁

Just because people can be whiny REMOVED doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to call them out for being whiny REMOVED. Calling a REMOVED a REMOVED can be good for the soul.

Bunch of REMOVED. 😀

RIP Hound.

I get it, but it's not appropriate for PCG.

I think my list of things that still need fixing badly is pretty short:
- Screen shake still needs a reduction.
- The aim of the gun not matching the centre pointer.
- Still getting cases where I feel like I am firing blanks, somethings is still broken there.

The netcode improved a lot but there are still some fundamentals of the game that need fixing.

These are the biggest to me. I was ads'ing someone in the water about 5 yards from me with a pump shotgun, missed 4 times in a row with my dot on him and he got me with his pistol.

4
times
in
a
row
with
a
pump
shotgun.

Really? That just happened?

I'm talking about the person you are shooting.

When I get this I get it against most opponents. Its like all my shots are blanks not just a few for the occasionaly HPB opponent I see. I wonder if a single HPB is actually impacting everything rather than just your interaction with him. Its hard to isolate however as its not obvious the when and why of how it goes wrong, its just some nights on some servers it doesn't work and other nights its all great. I will keep an eye out for HPB influence on this in the future however.

There's a few things that can cause an effect on what can be attributed to firing "blanks."

1) Server - If the server has had quite a bit of uptime, then you'll get the issue of firing blanks. The difference is, you'll see a lot of complaints in chat about it. You also have the "tick" rate, as well.
2) HPB - Shooting at an HPB will cause significant issues, but they can also cause lag for everyone else, even when it's LPB vs. LPB. This is why I try to stick to low-ping only servers.
3) Target Leading or other gun "issue" - This can cause an issue as well 😉 If you're not leading properly or the FSR can cause it to jump a bit. I doubt this is actually the problem you have, though.

The Dice team has done a incredible job fixing this game on W7. Used to stutter on my i5 and W7 not to long ago but a couple hours of gaming today on a fresh partition of W7 with 337.88 has been nothing short of impressive and fun. Input lag issue has disappeared as well thank god.

Yeah the input lag issue on 8.1 drove me crazy, eventually i will reinstall it and troubleshoot that issue but for once i sat down and played a few hours of Locker pistol only and had a blast with zero issues and even added a new favorite server cause i enjoyed myself that much.

Gains of the i7's ht are less dramatic on W7 then on W8.1 but there are gains....Performance is off obviously on W7 but it holds well over 60fps so i am content.🙂

I'm tired of reading forums where people call others complainers, whiners and haters. You're just incapable of dealing with other people's opinions when they don't match your own. When you get angry at someone criticizing a product, service or company that is a sure sign that you're a fanboy. And in IMHO a fanyboy is incapable of being objective.

When I see criticism I see opportunity to help someone with their issue/s or I see a chance to change their minds. When you see criticism about a company, service or product you get personal and attack the person.

A post complaining about people complaining about people complaining. This is a good start, but you'll still need to do more if you plan on breaking the internet.
