Darn, I patched it yesterday but did not have time to play.

I was going to upgrade the system to 8.1 and a GTX 780 on Saturday, but if the game is bunk for me tonight, I will be very sad.
Hopefully everything will be fine on your end. Some have the issue and some do not.

I was just playing on a pistol only domination server and was doing ok until I got the sound loop on Dawnbreaker. It seems most of the problems happen on Locker, Dawnbreaker and Paracel.

Yeah, fingers crossed.

I am super excited about Second Assault, hence the upgrade this weekend.

I don't really like the BF4 maps that much, too many favorites from BF3 though.

I can't even play the game anymore. As soon as it loads up the sound crash bug strikes. Dice is really setting itself up as a trash developer in my opinion now.

This is really unacceptable this far into release.

Yep, this last patch screwed up my game. Can't even finish a round. And it's a double XP weekend...
I will say this, I will NOT be buying the next Battlefield game until it goes on sale for cheap. Last time I waste a 100 bills..

Regarding the sound loop crash. Here are some of the things I've tried to fix the issue without success. I've rebooted, re-ran the punkbuster.exe, did a repair install of BF4 through Origin, logged into admin account and updated Windows and my sound driver from my mb manufacturer. I tried running both shortcuts (64 bit and 32 bit) in Windows 7 compatibility mode, I run ccleaner after a gaming session, I set the sound mode to stereo in game and tried running in borderless mode.

For the record I'm still using Catalyst 13.12 because I've been trying to keep this already fragile game stable.

WTF, i worked last weekend, and i am working this one too. 😡

I've been running fine for the past two months. I haven't updated anything and then when this last patch comes out, I can't even finish a round. It just doesn't make sense.

edit: Apparently new video drivers help....

I've seen a lot of "fix" suggestions but who knows if they actually work. One of them is to turn on hyper threading and/or downclock your cpu. Since I don't think my cpu has HT and I'm not overclocked I'm kinda screwed. I really don't want to mess with all that stuff anyways just to play a game that worked fine before the patch. I also don't want to install a beta video driver and enable mantle.

I'll repost the link that explains the problem for those that missed it. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2955064774131036047/

Most crashes happen on Locker, Dawnbreaker and Paracel.

I understand how people w/ BF4 problems are upset, as that has happened to me in some previous games.

As you can see from my below listed rig specs, I have a pretty standard setup I think with Windows 7 64 bit, and I do use that CPU parking control utility. Whether that makes any difference or not I don't know. My i7-2600k is not overclocked, nor the nVidia 780. I usually get around 100 fps much of the time on 'high' settings and at 1920x1080 with an Eizo monitor that is 120hz... super smooth and fast.

Once I got past the first 2-3 weeks, Battlefield 4 has run like a charm for me. I enjoy the game tremendously. It's a blast!! ...the best 'shooter' I've ever played. I'm a below-average to average player I would say.... I'm old... 🙂 I love Conquest on the Golmud Railway map, and as an Engineer with a Stinger, I frequently get the gunner seat on the Scout Heli, repairing like crazy and shooting down other choppers.... God, but my wife hates this game!!

My in-game user names I frequently change as I get bored. Right now, it's 'MrPoopyPants', but I also use 'DFWallace', 'WallStreetThief', "DerivativesPimp', 'AthleticAnchovy', and 'TableTennisStar'.... see you on Golmud!!!

Haven't played much in the last month but went back to it today and I have dramatic fps drops every now and then (every 30-60 seconds for about 1-2seconds). Seeing as I am not using Mantle its just a bug they have introduced with the game. Sigh, 1 step forward 3 backwards.

I just wanted to report that myself and at least a few others have fixed the "sound loop crash" by enabling Vsync in the game options. I hope it works for others.

My setup seems to be working pretty good, none of these problems you guys are reporting.
Game is addictive. Not looking forward to expansions. Will add bugs, splinter the community.
Will take me ages to master every aspect of the one I got, and online play has endless replay. Don't understand how some get bored so fast. I'd understand wanting new content if it was Pong or something, but this? Seems like a 10 year old with ADD.
Btw, is all the paint and portrait stuff just some gay vanity feature?

I am looking forward to new content, but Im a 42 year old with ADHD.

Yes, to the last question.

😉

I'm getting something similar, I have the CPU/GPU frame time graph on and it spikes off the top of my screen... I thought it was because of using Shadowplay and caching to the same SSD BF4 is on, but I'm not sure. Do you use Shadowplay? Are you on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?

Paracel and dawnbreaker completely unplayable for me after the latest patch. Both maps crash within 30 seconds, frequently while I'm still in deployment screen. I joined at least 40 games on these maps, each ended same way, sound loop crash.

My second computer with the 6970 is now having the sound loop crash but my 7970 is having no issues. One thing I am seeing is a rubber-band issue that seems to be on my end and not a server thing. There was one night I could only play one round, if I tried to play a second it would rubber-band like mad. Restart the game and it went away... until the next round. Playing this weekend I was getting random rubber banding. It seemed to happen every once in a while, and usually right when I had someone lined up of course.

I need to look into my connection. It's normally a problem free 100/20 fiber connection but there could be a problem with my hardware or their equipment.
