If you haven't touched it in months, how do you know it's still unacceptably buggy?

I know a lot of people are having problems and reporting them here, and I do not doubt that they are. It's frustrating when that happens, but there can be selection bias when you read these problems. Most people (like me) who aren't really having problems don't log in to say "I'm not having any problems!" There are a few, of course, but that's why online reviews often have a bimodal distribution. The people who really like a product or really hate it are usually the most motivated to review it. People in the middle tend to go on about their days and just use the product.

I think actually you can tell its exceptionally buggy because the problems people are seeing raised here aren't getting reported as fixed by the developers, nor are we seeing reported fixes here.

I still have basically netcode issues with rubber bullets, attack works better than defence because of the excessive lag the game introduces and many of the other problems like the aim not being centre of the gun and all that. Its all still present, none of it has been fixed.

The developers are currently worrying about the gamma settings for Mantle and everything Mantle but the sad fact is the fundamental parts of the game have serious problems. Doesn't stop it being fun but it means aiming and shooting in the game is quite hit and miss (literally).

It is an exceptionally buggy mess.

Not that it matters too much, but I don't think we're going to be able to hit the 50 million vehicles destroyed when the timer runs out.

Think we can get another 13,824,978 in the next 38.5 hours?

All the complaints about BF4 made me think of something I came across a few days ago when I finally finished the single-player campaign. Right at the end, the developers put in a little inside joke about the quality of anything made in Sweden.

And you know what, I think they deserve a little credit. We're pretty harsh on this game. If it weren't a fast-paced, ultra-competitive, multi-player shooter, no one would notice any of these issues. DICE has been putting out first-rate multi-player PC games for over 10 years. Who else has been doing that? We groan about Battlefield games every time, and yet every one of us is going to have hundreds of hours put into BF4, just like all the prior games.

I slam my desk, swear at the screen, and generally throw a fit like the best of them, but then I play BF4 some more. If the game weren't so darn impressive, we all wouldn't be coming back to it again and again. I guess it's a classic love/hate relationship.

Just my two cents...

Nice post Termi. I personally have no issues with game other than having to stop to feed those damn kids. I skip their meals some days but I never go more than 2 in a row.

Tons of other companies have been putting out first rate multiplayer games over the last 10 years. DICE was just one of those, but has screwed up royally with BF4. More than the technical issues, which are rampant, the gameplay itself is just very poor in my opinion. It really feels like a third rate product made by a small inexperienced team. I can't believe a large studio with plenty of experience, funding, and personnel produced this.

Although I'll readily concede that the game was released with far too many bugs, how can you comment on the current stability of the game if you haven't played it months?

I do have to say I like the single player quite a bit but I'm at the fourth or fifth mission and I think I'm almost done. I do feel like the bf3 campaign had a lot more explosions and felt like it had more substance to it. I haven't had many epic moments in the bf4 campaign though. The game still auto quits for me on ps4 randomly which I thought they would fix by now.

In comparison to what other game? I haven't played anything released recently that is better than BF4.

I understand what you are saying but I have to disagree. There are extreme variables in our experiences with BF4. The game crashed on me over 400 times since I bought it and that's a very conservative estimate. I had over 200 BF4 sound loop crashes in 2013 alone and that's not an estimate, I pulled the number from event viewer. As of today, there are at least 2 maps that I will crash on without fail if I join battles on those maps, nearly instantly.

It's an epic experience at times, that's why I'm still trying. I have done everything in my power to get it to run properly and I do mean everything, including a fresh OS install and countless setting and configuration tests. No other game crashed more than once since I preordered BF4 and I played over 30 other games since.

Again, it's great when it works, especially when you are on a decent team. The other day I was on Golmud and I stopped to soak in everything that was going on around me. Above me, 2 choppers were trying to shoot each other down, to the left and right of me there were tanks and infantry engaged in heavy fighting. I can't think of another online game that has a such a battlefield feel like BF4. The environments are gorgeous, it's all very immersive and it's not even that demanding on hardware.

That being said, even when it's working as intended, there are issues with mechanics and the netcode that are confusing to say the least. A while ago someone posted a video that went through them in detail and there were quite a few.

I try not to complain frequently and when I do I don't do it to grieve others here, I do it to report what differences I notice and in hope that others may know of fixes I don't know about.

I see a few praising the campaign mode, it's sad how we lowered standards for single player campaigns over time. BF has always been a franchise focused on MP so it's not quite fair to criticize them but considering the assets and resources at their disposal and it's obvious that they tried, campaign didn't live up to it's potential. I can't help but wonder how good of a campaign people behind games like Witcher and Stalker could have made if they had DICE's tools at their disposal.

I believe I speak for majority of us "complainers" that the complaints aren't because we hate the game, rather because we want to love it.

Downloading VERY slowly. 34kb/s Usually get 3.5mb/s to origin.
Same here. My connection keeps going up and down and stopping quite a bit. I'm going 11Mbps to nothing at times. It's showing 3 hours to go. It's doing better as I write this though.

Sucks that the game is still pretty buggy months after release.Played the game for less then a day back in November and got my refund and still see some of you having the same exact issues i did months later.....

Hoping they could fix it as i have honestly enjoyed each and every Battlefield going back to BF2 which got me into pc gaming in the first place and its sad to see this latest game in such a pile.

I jumped into a bit of BF2 yesterday and the day before after not seriously playing in nearly 6 years and it just reminded me of such simple fun times.:)

Tried all the new "old" maps except Oman this morning. I love the look of firestorm, all the black smoke and grittiness is awesome. Things are definitely different, except for metro.....it still sucks.

While observing and playing on a Metro conquest map the game suddenly stops to a black screen and starts loading Siege of Shanghai .

Oh and now the sound loop bug is back for me after being gone for 3 days.

Yep. Unfortunately nothing has changed in that regard.

I didnt get to really explore as the server was pretty full with 48 players, but all I saw different were a couple of new outside hallways and the elevators now work and play music. Oh, and its shot all to hell to begin with and its brighter without the famous blue tint.

Caspian is in full fall foliage now (pretty) and has walls and towers for snipers to camp in. They've changed up the map a bit, I felt kinda lost.
