Same issue here. I had set up B to deploy bipod...

It's a known bug I believe. I had to change my grenade key to a different button.

Anyone know how the range finder on your sniper rifle work? do you even need to use it? I just started trying playing a sniper and I find that sniping is a bit tougher than BF3, which I guess is a good thing. That or I have not gotten the hang of the sniping physics compared to BF3.
Ah, ok so I'm not just going crazy. Thanks guys.

It would be easy to test for someone with windows 7. A simple test with parking on and then off should produce results that are very obvious and easy to see. Do you have windows 7? Willing to do a quick test?
I have played with core parking before in windows 7 and it did nothing. Maybe BF4 is affected in a unique way by it. All I know is that I got a performance boost that I would have never suspected possible from an OS change. I figured maybe 5-10 FPS at best, but instead I got about a 40% increase and no more stuttering panning and glitchy movement. I'll continue to be shocked for at least a full week.

So I ran a quick test, and it makes a significant improvement.

I dont quite understand the numbers on the graph, but just looking at the graph it appears much more stable. And looking at the frame rate, it indeed is 40% or more at times.

Yeah, and its not enjoyable. I get just mercilessly slaughtered either on normal or hardcore. I was around 1.2 k/d and enjoying it. Now I'm lucky to get .75... what the fuck

Me too. I dont know if its because I haven't played a shooter in years but with BF3 I was always 2:1. Im lucky to get 1:1 now.

Time to kill is way to low in this game. Normal is like hardcore in BF3. Just camp like it's hardcore and watch your K/D syrocket. I'm maintaining 3:1 now that I'm not moving anymore. It's pretty lame.

I haven't had any crashing at all. But I can't say I am enjoying the gameplay all that much. The single player campaign was laughably bad and its further away in gameplay from BF2 than BF3 was and its just not what I am looking for. I kind of knew that before I bought it but never mind.

The problem is people like this.....

My 1.2 something KDR stats are pitiful compared to BF3, but I still love the game when it isnt crashing. Ive never been bashful about charging headlong into a meatgrinder just to see how many I can take out before they get me, a CoD4 type of martyrdom perk would work very well for me. 😉

I too feel like things are out of sync occasionally, sometimes its like I cant miss, while other times I couldnt hit sand if I fell off a camel.

Yeah and hitting moving targets is exceptionally challenging due to the horrible netcode, it's like you have to lead the lag but you can't really see it you just have to guess.

Yeah when you move around invariably someone will warp in out of nowhere or spawn 10 feet behind you and you're toast. I used to hate flood zone but now that I am playing assault and just stand still in one spot I am tolerating it a little better.

That brings me to another point. I would swear there is some degree of aim assist in this game because sometimes I take pot shots at snipers 200 yards away with my red dot scope that more than covers the whole target, and yet I still score hits and kills. It feels like guns are more accurate with red dot sights then actual scopes. There's no way the sight is precise enough to make shots like that but if you are close enough it counts as a hit...

Played for 3-4 hours last night and not one crash/disconnect -- first time that's happened. You might avoid 64 player servers for the moment as it seems like those have the most problems with crashing/lag. I'm rarely seeing an issue on 32 and under.

And damn there's a lot of whining in this thread lately -- thought I was on the Battlelog forums for a second. When has there ever been a BF launch that wasn't like this during the first week or two? CTFD.

The weapons definitely need a bit more finess this time around. For example, I found if you spray a LMG no matter how perfectly you hold your aim you will land few hits, as if the game purposely reduces accuracy independent of where the weapon is pointed. However, if you rapidly press the trigger button you can completely avoid it while getting a similar amount of rounds out. BF4 rewards fine weapon handling far more than previous games, which is partly why I think some have problems with it. Admittedly some serious tweaking needs to take place. Also, weapons with no accessories are simply inferior to those with them. Even if the best players are going to have trouble with virgin weapons because I think the game purposely nerfs stability and accuracy. They are still usable to a good player, but a poor player is going to have a very tough time with them initially.

I agree with the spawn issues. I think they meant well keeping the spawns a bit away from the flag hoping to save some spawn camping grief, but in practice they tend to drop you out in the open and vulnerable, too far away from the flag to be able to sweep in at the last second and potentially counter the capture. I'm not necessary opposed to spawn camping in some situations because it is a strategy, but what I've seen is that some will camp know spawn lanes in spite of not owning the flag, preferring to take the kills than capture flags.

Also, IMO the small helicopter with the guns is really OP right now. It's quite possible that as a threat they will diminish as more players get AA weapons, but for now they pretty much own everything. In BF4 the helicopters are easier to fly than ever before and extra durable. We had a chopper gunning us down virtually point blank just hovering and shooting and we threw everything we had at the cockpit and he laughed us off. At least in prior games you had a chance to kill the pilot, but it seems like the glass is bullet proof now. I could be wrong about this so if someone has more info please let me know.

Lastly, the destruction engine is great but surface mapping is buggy. Stuff like getting hung up on doorstops or ladders that blocked me at the very top. I was killed numerous times because I got stuck some tiny piece of scenery. I hope they fix that.

Holy shit, this is remarkably accurate.

I was playing TDM on that map with the train yesterday, when I shot a guy 5 times in the head and he didn't die. You might inquire how I know I hit him - well, I saw the bullet actually hit his head but it showed debris falling off. It was REALLY annoying.

1942 did as well, didn't it? I remember competing on custom maps.

Yes. Desert Combat is one of the greatest mods ever. It was the catalyst for what eventually became BF2. The aircraft were so fun to fly and actually required some skill. It was none of this point and go. Helicopters required constant throttle control and there was a huge difference between a bad pilot and good pilot. Sometimes it would get to the the point where bad pilots would get kicked because back then aircraft were balanced with the ground forces. Today, aircraft are just bigger hammers that do more to grief than actually stem the tide. In DC maps, not having aircraft to cart around troops was a huge disadvantage. People actually took time to load up in transports.

The glass is bulletproof, but you can shoot them from the side. Also, a single RPG or GL will take out the Little Bird.

As one of the aforementioned Little Bird pilots, I can attest that loaded up with 25mm cannons it is an absolute murder machine. The other day my engineer and I lasted the entire round while putting away several dozen badies in Golund Railway. In BF3 the miniguns were almost as effective as the cannon in BF4, however, the BF4 minigun is crap. The big difference is that in BF3 the helo's were harder to fly and were much more fragile, in BF4 flying is easy and the helo's are robust. However, one of the prefered helo tricks from BF3, ECM and dive into the trees to avoid missiles, does not work in BF4, since the trees are now solid. Ouch!

I won't even go near C (rubble) on Shanghai because of this crap.
