My 6800 is stuttering even in campaign with low-medium settings? Is it because of the older 13.4 drivers for Vista64 or is it really that far behind? Q6600 w/ 4GB RAM.
Hmmm, was thinking of letting my son try it on his PC which is very similar to yours (Q6600, Vista64, 4GB RAM, GTX285) but sounds like it may not go too smooth. I was able to run BF3 at medium settings on it very well before I built my last machine.

Game seems great, the maps are all awesome thus far. Not sure about that Russian winter map in an old prison or military barracks. Seemed absurdly chokepoint oriented but I didn't see much of the map...

Couple server crashes but overall the game runs silky smooth on Ultra 2xAA.

It has Multiple points to go around people, its not a "new metro" map like people say, they just don't like moving in anything but a straight line, you can go around the sides, and even OVER the other team to get to points. You can run from one side to the other without even seeing the enemy sometimes.

Yeah is been dub "The New Metro".

It is a lot like Metro, except it gives you lots of ways to get around those chokepoints. There are lots of upper, lower, and side entrances and you can go around the outside of the map to get to most of them. Watch your Flanks! ;)

It *is* the new Metro, just how it should have been done the entire time instead of the Clusterfvck that BF3's turned out to be.
I logged as soon as I saw Metro come up, and I love Locker.

Upgrade the attack boat with 30mm cannon, TV missile, maintenance and active radar jammer. Most over powered beast on Paracel. They will nerf that thing for sure. I've gone 60 - 2 type scores regularly with it. On top of that you have three guys in the back, one with the mounted rocket launcher and two on the chain guns. They are also repairing the boat.

Thing is a rape machine.
Just unlocked a pile of upgrades for it and suddenly...............the server crashed.

You are pretty far behind, but the campaign is poorly optimized I'm guessing. I'm also getting stuttering with my 2500k@4.5 - 7950 - SSD in the single player. I have almost zero problems in multiplayer other than the server issues.

I'm i the only one who thinks that BF3 looks better? Granted, I am mostly colorblind. :)

Is that 670SLI, 1440p/Ultra?

I haven't played enough maps to see the bland ones - I played the flood level and the rooftop details was just amazing. Colors, debris, textures, etc. Really a cut above the concrete rooftops in BF3.

670SLI, 1080p/Ultra 4X AA
I turn off post effects and motion blur because they smear the image.

I tried that flood map last night for a few minutes, and yeah, it looks really great. FPS is lower on that map as well, kind of like shanghai but not as bad.

I was getting crashes at first but then I upped the VCORE on my CPU and haven´t had any problems since, I had overclocked a little llazily and had only run OCCT stress test for about an hour but still. This game is very CPU intensive so maybe those of you overclocking either CPU or RAM should raise voltage a little to see if it helps at all.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, once I get into it, I'll definitely turn off blur.

In case it's not obvious, I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a second 670. Back when BF3 arrived, I immediately picked up a second HD5850, and rode out 8 months of BF3 on Crossfire. It was fast, but it was definitely VRAM limited at Ultra, and had some hitching due to what we now know as frame latency. That's why I'm asking here for thoughts on SLI.

Honestly, so far I think this game is amazing - it fixes so many of the things that we all were upset about in BF3, and of course adds even better graphics. And there's no doubt in my mind that this game is just smoother. Like Crysis smooth. If you know that game, you know you can play it at 30fps and enjoy it. Maybe its the 64-bit engine, maybe it's better CPU core utilization. I don't know, but it's like butter.

Now if only I could get an RDS in place of that darn default Kobra scope on Assault - I've never been able to hit anything with it.

I've yet to have a single crash with the game.

One thing is interesting, Geforce Experience updated BF4 settings files, it used to put all my stuff on medium/low settings, got 60fps on GTX 580, the new one put everything but shadows and x2 msaa on ultra, and i'm getting around 50fps.

Do Knives do anything with upgrades other than just visuals? I now have 3 different knives.

I'm going to save my %200exp boosts till i get new video card. :D

Played a few round last night and then did some of the campaign (I want to unlock the P90 >_> ). The campaign so far on hard isn't that hard. Not terrible though.

MP is a lot of fun. Domination is still looking like my favorite game type, but I will try everything before I make a judgement.

^No, you're not.

I only got to play about 30 minutes or so last night, but on auto, which I think put most of the settings on high, not sure about AA, my computer managed about 30-50 fps on average I'd guess. There were times it'd shoot up significantly higher, but it was mainly around there. Definitely was affecting my aiming.

I felt the same way the first time I played BF4 and I still agree. I think BF3 looks better because I can crank the settings and still have playable frame rates. BF4 on the otherhand runs okay, not great at mid-high settings. Having cranked the settings just to see what it would look like (nearly crashed my computer) I know BF4 can look downright jaw-droppingly beautiful. However, with an aging video card, right now it looks a little off at first glance.

I overclocked my 2500k to 4.5 during the beta and that made a huge difference. Time for a 780 or 290x. :D

BF3 looked more photorealistic to me. BF4 looks more...video game-y. Particularly the soldiers and the terrain.

For most maps i'd have to agree. I really think it has to do with the art direction of BF3. It was just great. It was created in a more detailed way. BF4's open maps seem bland to me, but the game does look wonderful on certain maps, so there is greater potential for some awesome expansion maps. This is coming from a guy who hasn't played all maps yet by the way.

@ Termie

SLI works absolutely perfect in this game. I think you'll be happy with the GPU power, just keep in mind that for me at least, the jury is still out on the Vram issue. In any case it hasn't caused any significant problems. Maybe the rare freeze that lasts less than a second. Hard to say without comparing to, say, two 670's with 4gb of ram. If you can get another one for cheap, i'd say go for it.
I notice no SLI skipping or frame latency at all. It functions as if it were a single card.

I agree. To me, BF4 looks like BF:2142 with enhanced graphics. Not saying that it's a bad thing as I loved 2142. Plus, I find that the soldiers "blend in" with the environment more in this game.

I actually agree, but I'm not sure if that's a bad thing. The colors are much more vivid, in a sense, colorful. Reminds me a lot of Max Payne 3, which wasn't photorealistic but looked great.

The big question is whether we want photorealism in games. Perhaps in a war game we do, although there's a part of me that says that a little abstraction is probably a healthy thing. ;)

Metro has multiple ways of getting around people as well. It is the new metro.

Has anyone had problems running the test system graphics? I tried this last night (and thank god I can go into the gun range to adjust my settings) and I got 0 FPS... It then suggested I revise my settings.

I don't think either BF3 or BF4 look very photorealistic, but I'm not bothered by it. BF4 looks great and gameplay is there. On occasion, I am annoyed by particle effects and "fluff" obscuring your view, but that is manageable. I also was super annoying in BF3 that a flashlight, in broad day light, from across the map would blind you. These things aren't lasers... I haven't noticed if that exists yet in BF4.

Finished downloading and installed yesterday, sped through campaign on hard. Campaign was easy and short and don't bother, no end game easter eggs after loooong credits rolling. Campaign was better than BF3 but it's still a gross misuse of AAA assets. Then I tried online, just 3 rounds so too early for a verdict.

The sig rig on stock clocks ran this fine all maxed out @1440p. Haven't done actual FPS count yet but it seems both the image quality and the minimum FPS have improved over beta. Had a few crashes in campaign, mostly when exiting vehicles.

It's the best looking FPS on the market but give the assets to a studio that knows how to do single player campaigns and watch them pump out GOTY titles one after another.

Other than Irish showing jaundice symptoms, DICE having a moist wall fetish to show off the shine and similar minor stuff, no complaints about FB3.

That test thing doesn't work. Just a button to click and be told your system fails. :)
