also seems right now that the auto repair will heal the chopper from pretty much any percent to full

I don't get off on air rape either but I can't believe how hard it is to stay in the air right now. You take off and 5 seconds from spawn you are painted and dead immediately.

I'd actually disagree with this, as long as the lockon weapons are limited in quantity to either team or soldier. Effective man portable GtA or GtG lock on weapons would force the other team using those assets to remain at distance or suffer the consequences. Forcing the helis to remain further out and lower, or closer in and higher, would bring us more realism and less air rape. Exact same thing for jets. While it wouldn't be realistic, having different lock on distances for jets and helis would bring more balance to the game for Stingers/IGLA. There is no possible way in real life jets and helis could operate in the mode they do at the distance and altitudes they do in the game. Bringing more effective weapons to bear would force tactic shift and force them into more realistic roles.

When guys are going 70-4 in the jet on Normal, that is a design problem with the game. No one should be able to do that.

Chuck

I've had 10:1 KDR on infantry maps, I guess the game is broken eh??

realistic?

you know how many infantry soldiers carry GtA missles IRL? about .00000001 % and they only have a few rounds

"We're sorry that weapon is not available, please wait until 183 more tickets have expired" :sneaky:

not sure why you quoted me on that. the auto repair is IMO a bit much, in BF3 you had to land and repair it with the repair tool once you got below a certian %, even with auto maint on, now you dont seemingly have to do that at all. that needs to change. nothing really to do with realism

I forgot to type sometihng 😛

what I was going to say is:

I believe on almost all vehicles maintenance perk is on for the beta

I noticed this as I unlocked thermal camo for tanks and stealth for the ATK Helo

but yeah, in bf3 at like 30% when you got disabled and caught on fire you needed to have extinguisher to not have to land and repair

I did notice that when you get hit by something substantial now, the rotor catches fire for a few seconds, making you less manuverable, making you a sitting duck

not sure how I feel about that yet

Finally had a chance to play last night after this latest patch. I can now HIT people with bullets. No more being 2ft behind them only to have every single bullet miss.

FPS is more consistent, although I still get bad single digit drops now and then.

Also, the XM25 having its auto-range thing allowing it to blow up at the exact right moment is BS. Even in CoD the XM25 required manually setting the range.

Oh man Obliteration can be fun with a good team.... unfortunately I was in a pub. Not until I went spotting recon class (balls and spotting tool) that we had some progress with carrying the bomb. Kept painting targets and sensor balling the bomb zone.

Good thing they put in time limits to the game as I can see being stalemated very easily.

No, the XM25 does not have "auto-range" to explode over walls/cars/etc. It gets it's range as soon as you look down the scope.

Can you even fire it from the hip? I know it states it uses a computerized range finding to automatically determine what range to explode (3 meters past the targeted object).

And since it wouldn't be intuitive to actually target the wall / car / whatever and have it fire around that, it makes sense it sets the ranged to whatever the closes object near the targeting reticle.

Hipfire is just explode on impact, basically a "laser" RPG since it doesn't arc.

I'd say that is a bit more OP than the aimed fire. If they eliminated that, I'd be okay with it as is.

*shrug*

What they need to do is offer more choices for kits in terms of helpful items. BF has continued to shoot itself in the feet over this. There's limited ammo on the XM-25, and it's no different than the assault GL.

How'd you get to play obliteration?

Just played a game of that and had a blast. I didnt even know that mode was available till you posted this.

If you've gone 10:1 on infantry only maps it means you're a legit good player or just sniping from afar. Is that realistic? As far as a game goes, sure.

Your last two sentences here aren't really keeping the nature of the game in mind though. In real life, we're not carrying GtA missles that much because the persistent air threat just doesn't justify having them. In real life, if there were as many persistent air threats as in game, you can bet we'd have a lot more anti-air resources.

In the game, unless they're going to make air vehicles spawn only at certain times, this isn't going to be the case. You destroy a F/A-18, another one pops up at the US base very quickly. That F/A-18 isn't 40 minutes away, it's 10 seconds away. Thus the in game levels of GtA should be inflated.

You may claim it doesn't, but I am constantly getting killed while behind cars or in corners because it explodes in the air just as it passes the corner of the thing I am behind.

If you are inside a door, off to the side, the guy just has to fire through the door and it will explode just as it passes through. Even if there is no wall for it to impact.

If you have been spotted, it seems to detonate right around you. I used it a few times to kill people behind cover, and when I spot them first its an easy kill.

the air burst has 2 modes.

hip fire - explodes on impact

explodes at X distance - where X is the dfistance of whatever you scope onto. so if you scope onto a wall thats 30 yards away and then pan to something else and shoot they will blow up at 30 yards (assuming you stay scoped in the entire time)

this is how you kill people ebehind cover and around corners with it

It realistically just means he is a camping nooblet. 😛

JK, Ive played with Zarg and he's pretty good. <--- No homo

I think this is important. Real life combat isn't plagued by jet rape (with no friendly fire, so they can just launch missiles and drop bombs all willy nilly). We don't need a ton of GtA missiles because we have air support if needed.

And if we want to talk about realism, we should stop letting everyone just throw grenades all the time, have 1 sniper for every 100000 players, completely remove health packs and defibrillators, and force everyone but only a select few to use an M4 or M16.
