Some of it is just the Beta right now, they are having issues with punkbuster that they are working on. but felang is right on your RAM and CPU

beta has optimization issues imo

performance has got to improve in full release but there's no way to tell by how much with the beta

You have CPU and memory issues.

Did you play BF3? If so, did it play well?

BF4 is optimized for 8 threads. You only have two real cores. And 4GB of RAM wasn't enough to keep BF3 playing well. BF4 being 64bit is more RAM hungry it seams.

Now there is a known issue that causes it to drop to single FPS now and then for everybody.

I know I am CPU limited though. monitoring shows my CPu (965BE @4.1GHz) to be running at 90-100% utilization 90% of the time.

Need more Ram, also you'll be severely cpu limited in 64 player servers

i joined an empty 32 player server with 21 ping and it is extremely laggy..fps constantly dropping to 1

also if i just stand still in the game it shows 45-60 fps constantly but if i move or try to shoot fps drops to 1 and comes back to 45-60 if i stand still again...setting all are in high ultra with MSAA off...getting same problem in lowest possible settings on 720p res

i did not play bf3 but i play Crysis 3 daily on high settings FXAA and i get constant 40-60 fps in multiplayer with smooth gameplay

and yes fps is constantly dropping to 1 in the bf4 beta..

You have almost the ABSOLUTE minimum requirement for CPU and Ram.
Maybe try lowering the texture and see if it still happens? I dunno what else to say, but it is a beta and apparently from what I've heard (although I don't trust IGN at all) and earlier one at that so I wouldn't say the game won't work on your PC.

tried with everything on low MSAA off on 1280x720 res same fps dropping from 45-60 to 1 constantly..same problem in high ultra settings with MSAA off

A lot better than the bf3 beta. I've had zero issues with this one.

The more I play the more I like it to, parachutes for example are more mobile, its not just drop and fall straight, you can actually slight turn, not only that but you can deploy them easier. In Bf3 pressing spacebar sometimes would deploy them for me, here i can do it with ease.

If anyone is interested I will post some more BF4 videos. That last one I did sound would to encode. Anyone know a very good encoder, Handbrake is nice, but it seems limited, and VLC is the same.

Good point, I really like the change to the chutes. Fast deployment is helpful to get out of tricky spots sometimes.

I went back to BF3 for a while yesterday and fell to my death a few times jamming on spacebar!

Definitely a small detail improvement compared to some of the bigger issues folks are bringing up but I was glad to see it anyways.

Try the 320.49 drivers. I went back to those due to the Nvidia beta drivers causing huge spikes and slowdowns on my 680. With the 320.49 drivers gameplay is very smooth.

When the game is running, tab out and look to see how much memory you have available. I have seen the beta get close to 2.5GB of usage on my system (I have 12GB). If you only have 4GB, that doesn't leave much for windows and a browser (Which you have open if you are playing).

i would say put at least 8gb of ram, i remember when i jumped from 6 to 8gb on bf3 and it took care of a lot of the stuttering
i ran the beta this weekend on a laptop with an i7 720qm 5870m and 8gb of ram and it ran decently at the detected settings at 1080p.

also heard that if you run the directx installer located in the game folder you can get a jump in performance, i did that prior to the first run so i don't know how it ran before

So no Jav in the beta.... ?

Its in the game..

From what I have read it is no longer fire and forget. You have to stay aiming at the target. Which is more like how its used IRL.

I am mostly hoping its limited to ground only targets. As it is not used for air targets IRL, why should it be in the game?

I'm getting similar on my rig, but I've noticed it's also server dependent for some reason. Humming along at 60-80 FPS and then it'll drop to 20 for a split second (essentially GPU usage plummets) and then right back to where it was.

Rolled back to 320.49 last night and it wasn't as bad, but it's still there.

That airburst weapon is garbage. People spam like that noob tubes. You should have to calibrate the distance every time. I tried it when I started to rank up the support class and you just aim in the general area and it seems to explode perfectly when it needs to. Its bad enough that all assault gets a noob tube by default, but airburst is even worse. Its like that auto shotgun in BF3 with the exploding ammo.

One frustrating thing I forgot about BF is how unbalanced the teams can get. Quite a few times I hopped on a server only to find all the level 5+ guys on one side, and all the 1 and 2's like myself on the other. On Domination, the other team would win by 200 points just about every time. I'm starting to just immediately leave when I join a server and see the teams unbalanced...lifes too short.

Just got an update threw origin and it seems to run the direct x installer finally. Are there any other changes? I did not see a changelog.

The Air Burst isn't that bad. I know I've taken out a few people by just firing directly at them with it a few times, but it is nowhere near as annoying as a good noob tubers or anywhere close to a competent Carl Gustav'r. I wish they'd bring that back already. =(

Also I'm pretty sure there is rampant cheating and aimbotting going on.

Almost feels like it, but I think some people are just good. It might be the weapons they are using. Quite a few times I was OHK from maybe an assault rifle or something from a block away. It was from a weapon I didn't have access to, so I just assume the gun is better than what I have access to.

Man, trying to go from B or A to C when you have a squad of Support on the C roof raining down airburst is ridiculous. All that cover on the street is useless. At least with noob tubes the grenades will roll past if it doesnt hit anything. With airburst, you just aim above or to the side of the general area where a person is at, and you get hit markers.

yes it is. you can shoot at air targets with direct fire mode. and its fire and forget IRL

anything else about the javelin you want to point out :p

I wish that was it, would be less frustrating

last night when we were going after C I flanked the whole squad of defenders as support and let an entire mag out of the LMG, and got like 2 hit markers( i wasnt full auto spraying, tap tap tap the mouse firing) and some ass on the other end of the building turned around with the engineer smg and laid me out in like 2 bullets. I also noticed when i was sniping from d towards c that I was leaving bullet impacts in mid air near the edge of teh building......thats....not great
