Maybe I am missing something but I am not a fan of how the ammo packs work. It seems more like giving out a single magazine than something actually useable. I don't think I've gotten a single grenade or rocket from it. I wonder if its to prevent spam but at the same time this seems like overkill. I can also see how it might be valuable for the new reloading setup for HC servers but it seems like a waste most of the time. Hopefully the ammo box is still like BF3

Now in this game I swear it's like I'm under heavy suppression at all times. Bullets missing stationary enemies. No recognition of headshots when youa re killed. You just think you randomly died in 1 hit.

I shot 15 rockets from a chopper through another chopper today. Everything seems really wonky.

Hmm....I wonder if you have some sort of other issue going on. I haven't had an issue hitting stationary targets or choppers and no one seems to have any issues hitting me :p

I would disagree on the suppression thing as well - at least for the LMGs. I think those need to be toned up a bit or the spread toned down. I can't hit shit form medium-short distance even prone (haven't tried bipod yet). I think the SMGs are more accurate running

Saw there were vehicle barriers raised on the end of the bridge near D last night, anyone know how to raise and lower those? Looking around on youtube I found nothing on how to do it, but you can see them here at around the 5:20 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdchU3fw0cA

Yeah - off to the 'south' slightly (If heading towards the C flag from A and B flags its just to the right of the posts themselves. Not sure going to D and E from C though) there is a post that you have to activate a retical on (like the elevators). I think only infantry can do it. Interesting idea but I find it hard to believe there are civilian post systems out there that can stop a 60 ton tank moving at full speed or can't be blown up with a tank shell.

I couple of days ago I could actually move through them in a tank, although very slowly. I couldn't do that last night

I seen that as well. You can easily lower them though.

Sure - I get that and that it makes for some more interesting gameplay (I'm sure many will die trying to lower the posts at strategic positions) but it seems an odd direction. EA has made a huge focus on destructibility yet they go an add in a 'feature' that has potentially large game flow consequences but is indestructible?

Yeah it is weird.

I wonder who runs the show more DICE or EA ?

ammo packs only work for one person and don't do nades or other explosives, only bullets, but they "stick" to a person and follow them around.

Ammo boxes are more like the traditional ammo pouches from BF3, they work for everyone and do everything, they're also stationary.

I'm greatly enjoying the carbine class of weapons on the support role, lots of fun.

I am not, however, a fan of scope removal being part of a battlepack for snipers.

Ill add that to get the ammo boxes you need to complete the support kit unlocks.

The more I play the less I like it... BF3 had much better gunplay. It's just horrible in the beta which is worrying because the gunplay was awesome in the BF3 beta and got worse after patches to the real game.

I agree with you that the BF3 beta gunplay was nearly perfect, then they nerfed the weapons to appease all the whiners after release.

Im finding that hit detection and lag vary greatly from server to server. Some play great while others are pure garbage.

Lots of servers seem to have a Punkbuster type of lag where things just hitch up every few seconds. I remember dealing with that type of stuff on our CoD4 servers when I ran them, and would turn PB off at times to solve the issue. I may be totally wrong, but thats exactly what it feels like to me.

It's the last unlock. Honestly, I think it's one of the worst changes they made in that regards - it's the only class without the "base package" from BF3.

After a weekend of playing I have determined my CPU is just too slow, unless the GM version is decently faster than the beta (Which is possible). But regardless of actualy graphics settings, I get the same 30-45fps. So certainly not GPU bound. in BF3 I could sustain 60fps in most 64 player games. Would just drop in certain areas.

Monitoring shows my CPU is at 90-100% utilization 90% of the time.

The biggest issue I am having is hitting people. Maybe it is weird server lag, but I have found it nearly impossible to get kills with the engineering class's default SMG's.

I agree totally. BF3 (even the beta) had refined, fast gun play as good as counter-strike. BF4 feels like a huge step backwards back to BF2 or BF1942.
I think there are several things contributing to this:

1) There are no soldier movement sounds. May be due to being a beta. As a consequence you cannot tell when enemies are running around right behind you, leading to frequent insta-deaths seemingly out of nowhere (which I will abbreviate as IDONW).
2) BF3-hardcore level damage, there is no time to react, by the time you realize you are under fire you are already dead, leading to frequent IDONW.
3) Lack of incoming bullet sounds/visuals or incoming damage direction indicators, leaving you no way to get into cover, leading to frequent IDONW.
4) I'm pretty sure some of the weapon iron sights and scope crosshairs are off. I've frequently gone full auto at point blank range and hit nothing, had my crosshairs dead on a guy's head while stationary and hit nothing, etc. Also I'm pretty sure there is rampant cheating and aimbotting going on.

I like the new class, weapons, and unlock systems (battlepacks are yet to be seen though, depends on how hard it will be to get gameplay-important items vs. cosmetic items). The new gun recoil is just a little bit different but otherwise I have no problem with. I like the new suppression, how it lasts 3 times as long but is only caused by explosives and machine guns.

The problems are just an overall lack of polish compared to BF3. Yes I know it's still a beta but I doubt they will be recording all new sound effects or vastly changing the movement/recoil/netcode system for release. Overall I think BF4 will be ok but nowhere near the all-star-hit BF3 was.

Did you play the BF3 beta? I would venture to say this beta is more polished than the BF3 beta was.

A lot better than the bf3 beta. I've had zero issues with this one.

The more I play the more I like it to, parachutes for example are more mobile, its not just drop and fall straight, you can actually slight turn, not only that but you can deploy them easier. In Bf3 pressing spacebar sometimes would deploy them for me, here i can do it with ease.

If anyone is interested I will post some more BF4 videos. That last one I did sound would to encode. Anyone know a very good encoder, Handbrake is nice, but it seems limited, and VLC is the same.

I agree with the parachutes. I have quite a few deaths where mine didn't deploy and I just plummet to my death in BF3.

I think this beta is decent, I am just tired of this map and the weapons.

this

so far I like bf3 gunplay better

I find lots of frustration where I get on a low ping server and I cannot hit a damn thing, swap to a server and end up owning as if I cant miss.

Ah - I knew that you could give them to a person but I didn't know that if they were on the ground it was one person only or that they didn't go anything but bullets. Good to know the traditional box still works the same way. Thanks!

 Thats terrible!

I agree about the sounds but I think the 'aimbotting' and damage are related to something else. I almost wonder if they increased the size of the 'headshot' hit box. The guns seem to take a bit longer to get used to but there have been quite a number of times I have 'headshotted' someone from a ridiculous distance with the assault rifles. It was lucky to hit them once or twice in a couple bursts let along getting a headshot

My specs:

i3 3220
GTX 660
4GB 1600MHz Corsair vengeance
1600x900 res
Latest geforce beta drivers

Its totally unplayable for me...frames constantly dropping to 1 fps from 45-60 fps...extremely laggy and unplayable even on lowest possible settings....
some problem with the beta or my system can't handle this game? i was gonna pre order this game but i waited for the beta only to find that my system can't run it, any one else with config similar to mine facing this problem?

The gunplay is good but I think the LMGs handle terribly. Forcing me to use a 6x scope on the non-large maps for the recon class also sucks.
