Watched the trailer in 60FPS as well. Visually this is what so many games were promising for a while now. I'm not quite sure how different BF4 has to be from BF3 to make the majority happy but I don't expect any other primarily multiplayer FPS to top this on the PC. Though I can't help but wonder what some studios could have achieved if they had these assets. Not arguing that BF4 is a bad game but ultimately so much more could be done with their tools, especially on the single player side. Guess I'm going to remain a lemming and to the anuual thing again, buy BF4, hold a moment of silence after I get through "the story" mode, thinking what could have been and play online until hackers push me away from the game.

The in-game animation looks great - probably the best I've seen in any game.

I don't have a lot of interest in BF4 (I've just kind of burned out on MP shooters, and the BF SP campaign is always pretty pathetic), but I would do cartwheels if DICE would actually get on with making Mirror's Edge 2 with this tech.

PLEASE!! :'(

Certainly plausible but it's DICE so one can only hope. While I was watching the trailer I couldn't help but wonder what some lovingly made games would be like if their developers had these tools to work with.

Ok but what I read in previous comments is it was ported from consoles without native PC code. Is that not what was meant in previous posts? That is not entirely the case according to the provided links. What these articles say to me is in order to hit the launch time they had to work directly on the consoles because they wouldn't be able to do a direct port from the PC in time.

No?

Developers should do the right thing though. Build the console game specific to the console and the PC specific to the PC so there is nobody to cry foul. Maybe with the next round (ps4 etc) we will have less of this since the hardware is more similar.

That's just the CoD whiners honestly. When you have jeeps, tanks, jets, choppers etc. you shouldn't care if it's 4 miles to the fight, you are there in 2 minutes or less.

I agree. Trouble with small maps is you lose the strategy element to it. No worry about positioning as you can get from place to place so quick. Almost impossible to do stealth run as you can't really get out of visual range on most maps. They're catering to a different crowd than the one that made battlefield popular to begin with.

Not sure how high up these devs/moderators are but apparently the game is feature locked already:

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654625507184996/

Unsurprising, but yea, the game's feature locked before they even tell us enough about multiplayer to give feedback. In other words, you're going to get what we give, keep your ideas to yourself.

I know I bitch about PS2's design decisions all the time but at least SOE is trying to do what the community wants, and thus they put EA/DICE to an atrocious crying shame.

Multiplayer will be a nightmare without VOIP, just like the other battlefields. Who wants to bet it's not going to work again?

I hope that right now they are just trying to finish and getting everything working correctly and getting rid of bugs. I mean they had all of BF3 to find out the problems and missing features. Once beta comes out and a bunch of missing features and bugs are there is when the real bitching will need to happen.

I will not be buying bf4 if they are missing some basic features.

I used to use BF3's VOIP with a few friends when it first released and it worked ok. What happened, did they break it?

Now if Im not with a group on TS I usually just play with random pubs so VOIP means nothing to me. I mean who wants to listen to 12 year olds babble anyhow.

There's voip in battlelog, but you can't use voip with random people in your squad in game. Which is pretty lame because the game is awful without a good squad.

If I don't have 3 people I know and enjoy playing with I will only play metro 24/7 because I can win games on the map single handed.

Yeah, Id rather not hear a bunch of random idiots trying to tell me how to play and Im pretty sure Id piss people off bossing them around too. In TS I can always mute the morons. LOL

Good squads are nice when you can find em, but I usually find a way to do some major damage to the opposing team even if I am on a crappy team/squad.

nowgamer.com - Battlefield 4 beta appears on Origin

Adam Barnes, Published on Apr 15, 2013

BF4 beta should begin soon, at least if its appearance on Origin is anything to go off.

Battlefield 4 was revealed to a mixed response with some praising its clearly next-gen visuals and others criticising its seemingly by-the-numbers tickboxes of spectacle.

The truth is, of course, BF4 is all about the multiplayer and it seems a beta for the Battlefield 4 multiplayer should be happening soon.

Those who pre-order Battlefield 4 through the official website (for the ridiculously high price of £54.99) will also gain access to the Battlefield 4 beta, which will then appear greyed out on the Origin menu.

If you bought Medal Of Honor: Warfighter or are a BF3 Premium subscriber then you will also gain access to the Battlefield 4 beta, however this will not yet unlock anything on Origin.

Whether this suggests BF4 pre-orderers will have access to the beta ahead of Medal Of Honor: Warfighter or BF3 Premium subscribers we can't yet say.

When the Battlefield 4 beta does go live we will be sure to let you know whether this is true or not.

Commander isn't a mode, it's a position in conquest. Now, if commander is optional or there are multiple versions of conquest which don't all have it, then it would be a mode.

That said, it IS good news.

Commander was removed for good reason. That kinda play has no place in a FPS.

I agree...everyone should have the same access. You shouldn't have one person with access to features nobody else has. Not that it's unfair per se, but it seems like someone is above everyone else which in a game should not be the case.

So there shouldn't be squad leaders? Or ranks, or unlocks, there should be enough tanks that one spawns for all 64 players, etc? Those are all things that put one player over another in some way or another.

And you can bet that DICE would not be bringing it back if there weren't a lot of calls to have it.

Arent you the two guys who are always complaining about spotting? And the ability to play stealthily?

Commander is the ultimate spotter! You see everything, you spot everything for everyone, place assets, and worst of all call in arty on people who have no chance to return the favor. Its total BS, that crap belongs in an RTS and nowhere else.

3D spotting, yes. 2D spotting, no. I know you know the difference, I'm just surprised you think the complaints were for anything but 3D spotting, as I've always championed 2D spotting over 3D. And the commander could only look at one section of the map at once, you can't keep spotting a sniper on one end of the map and also spot every other camper at the same time.

But who needs it? Now we have audio spotting that makes the commander look blind.

As for artillery, not every game has to be about gun duels where you are always able to return fire. They can be blown up, you know, and they were hardly a guaranteed death to begin with.
