People can impact it, but nobody knows how much. And those who claim otherwise are lying.

Read up on earth temp cycles.

Shouldn't we be doing something about it either way?

Glad I live inland...
Why not let mother nature take care of any imbalance that may exist? She has Millions of years more experience than "we" do.

You better believe mother nature will "fix" things.
So, there you go. Global warming/cooling problem solved.

You may not like how Mother nature 'fixes' problems.
Mother nature is a Liberal? :D

mother nature is indifferent. think of humanity as a virus and the earth as a the infected host.

Was waiting for this. Classic.

It cracks me up how many liberals here are professed atheists, yet worship the earth with enough fervor to guilt-trip all of humanity for its sins against her.

To be fair the midwest has had the coolest summer on record since 1942. MN didnt have a single day above 90 in our hottest month(July) and Chicago didnt break 80 degree's something like 14-18 days during July. And only broke 85 3 times. There was an article 2 weeks ago about record cool temps across the whole region.

So anytime you want to turn a fan towards the midwest and pipe in the hot air please do ;)

Get someuse out of it before it hits the atmosphere

I let mother nature take care of my leaking gas line; guess what happened?

Next time, I'll call Jebus, I tell you what.

no worship is involved. just stating if we don't take care of our home, there will be no home.

seems conservative christians seem to think it's their god given right to use up all the resources without a thought to the future.

Well, I just want ice free Great Lakes year round so can keep my boat going. I little more warming and the Sahara will be back to the lush savannah it was 15,000 years ago, so I can't see where a slight warming trend overall is a bad thing.

How some of you can still be politicizing this is beyond me. It's like some people wake up in the morning and think of ways to be stupid throughout the day with your "Muhhhh, it's cold this summer" tripe. Are you seriously that fucking dense....

Yet if it were a record heat wave summer you would be all over it.

A net increase in temperatures would probably be a net gain for the planet. I continue to be surprised that there's virtually no discussion about the positives of a warmer planet, especially considering that historically it has resulted in a better overall climate for life on the planet. It's hard not to get the impression that some people would prefer the entire planet to be either fall or winter.

Hard to sell lower standards of living, carbon credits, and state capitalism on a nice story. Must have doom and destruction.

No, I wouldn't but thanks for thinking of me.

One cooler or one hotter than average summer means shitall. That's the point.

I was being a bit facetious in my post, but in fact think a bit warmer planet WOULD be better overall. That does not mean I think we have the right to mindlessly pollute and spew various gases into the atmosphere. But man's impact long term is negligible. And in the short term is indistinguishable from natural weather and climatic shifts.

The best way to "clean up" the planet is for us all to get much wealthier. Wealthy nations can afford to pay for this. And the route to wealth is energy useage. Increase energy usage and the nations wealth rises correspondingly.

cool flat earthers are allowed to post here and not be run out?

lol, someday when you grow up you'll be able to see how ironic your statement is. You kiddo are the flat earther - who takes it on faith that man is causing climate change and even further could do something about it even if it were true.

And what, pray, is your alternative? Do nothing and just say "oh, I'm too small to matter anyway"???

Somehow I doubt that you practice what you preach, 'cause I don't quite sense you're one of those who'd ever consider sacrificing himself for the sake of others.

There are thousands of tonnes of oil-based products being poured back into the environment by man, every day. Your plastic cup, your old couch... and what you do as an individual, is nothing compared to the waste produced by larger companies, and that's even before we look at the pollution caused by millions of cars on the roads every day...

You really think, in your obtuse little mind, that all that crap doesn't make a difference? I'd call you an ostrich, but that would be an insult to bird intelligence.

LOL, you are such a fool. You can ASSume all day long but it doesn't change reality.

I'm actually quite a "hippie" when it comes to Conservation and what you bandwagon jumpers now call being "green". I was into that way before it became a popular liberal cult following. But keep on ASSuming... it seems to be the way you libs roll.

Oh, and no where did I say that things don't make a difference - however, in the grand scheme of things - yes - we are a very tiny piece of the nature pie.

It's been predicted for years, and now it's happening. Deep in the Arctic Ocean, water warmed by climate change is forcing the release of methane from beneath the sea floor. Over 250 plumes of gas have been discovered bubbling up from the sea floor to the west of the Svalbard archipelago, which lies north of Norway. The bubbles are mostly methane, which is a greenhouse gas much more powerful than carbon dioxide. The methane is probably coming from reserves of methane hydrate beneath the sea bed. These hydrates, also known as clathrates, are water ice with methane molecules embedded in them. The methane plumes were discovered by an expedition aboard the research ship James Clark Ross, led by Tim Minshull of the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, in the UK.

Basically, we've let the earth get warm enough to let methane trapped in the arctic for god knows how long get released, which could theoretically cause a positive feedback loop and fuck us. Well forget cap n trade then if it's already over!

"we" did? How arrogant to think man controls things such as this.

Thats a nice sound byte your masters have fed you, but its far from reality. Please link Christian groups who feel its not necessary to conserve, protect, and not waste. Thanks.
