Yes we dont now anything yest till Dec.APU 13 it is only marketing until u see actual performance and Nvidia is much bigger company than AMD in GPU and they will not let there market fall.

Listen, lets not make this like a cheerleading football game. That is not what i was doing. I'm simply stating a fact. To me, as of this moment, Mantle isn't any better than the deceased "Stream" API AMD announced with bells on way back when. AMD tends to falter at the finish line or not follow through.

AMD has at least EA, Oxide, Square/Enix and Crytek on board with Mantle and a raft of developers making inquiries. Charlie D said he has info from his foundry moles Maxwell isn't arriving until Q4, 2014. Charlie D has been VERY accurate with his foundry predictions.
 
I know that Mantle is exciting but have you guys considered the chance that if Mantle ends up boosting GCN performance by >20%, AMD might just use it as an opportunity to jack up the prices for their cards?

Who is on board isn't what we're interested in. It's the results we're interested in. It's like a hollywood producer name dropping. Doesn't mean much. How many devs jumped onboard with Stream?

The EA/DICE presentation at the Hawaii event is more than sufficient refutation to that line of reasoning.

Mantle is coming to BF4 in December, maybe even at the end of November per a Johan A. tweet, and Frostbite has 15 more Mantle games in the pipeline.

I like the movie analogy, but I'd characterize it as more of the hollywood producer having a movie he wants to make, and how many A-list actors want in on it. Hard to make a blockbuster movie without the fancy actor names willing to commit and play the right parts.

It's probably safe to guesstimate that demand would probably go up by 20%.
If so, all the cards will sell out and you won't be able to get any except by going onto Ebay to pay a profiteering re-seller. Or, Newegg and Amazon will automatically engage their computerized pricing algorithms to raise prices as supply dwindles.

That is a dream and it's in your right to have it. And, even A-list actors can falter without proper direction. My point is, and I'm sure everyone realizes this, is that we have no evidence yet, at all, that AMD can or will provide said proper direction or even if they know a direction to take. I prefer to wait and see and try not to listen to all the preaching. It really is quite annoying to see.

AMD would have debuted the cards at higher prices if that were the case, they did know what Mantle is bring to the table.

Rory Read is after a much bigger fish - breaking the back of Nvidia's consumer GPU business on a cost performance rack.

AMD is currently a cost/performance leader across the AIB market even after Nvidia's initial price reductions, what margins will be left if Nvidia has to contend with a further 25-35% Mantle induced cost/performance deficit?

What happens when Kaveri is released able to take advantage of the full HSA/hUMA APU console code? Kaveri + Mantle will functionally duplicate the console hardware.

What happens to prices after Nvidia is broken on the price/performance rack is a different matter.

Yes. It is actually.

EA is the biggest developer in the world and is going all in on Mantle. Frostbite is a top tier cutting edge engine and DICE is going all in with Mantle.

They said in their presentation they are 'Super exited about Mantle'.

Discounting the copious and valid information conveyed at the GPU13 event, acting as though it had no value or significance, is not a rational response.

Non-sense argument. There's a plethora of evidence AMD can and has provided proper direction and knows exactly what direction to take and is taking it.

I cant believe u said that without any knowledge.EA has been awarded for worst company for 2 years now and worst customer service.And do even now that only Frostbite 3 engine will support mantle.Not all EA games support for example TitanFall is Nvidia title MMO though and Sims 4 to.Even next gen NF is locked at 30fps so nothing do with mantle.

Oxide and it's nitrous engine is verified as using Mantle.
Star Citizen, using Cry Engine 3, is a verified Mantle developer.
Eidos Montreas, owned by Square/Enix, is a verified Mantle developer.

Yes i now but u said all EA games will use mantle plz dont post any thing that u dont now and this is a technical thread.
Crytek yet to announce but right they are not using and only in star citizen game.

I said the frostbite engine has 16 mantle games in the pipeline, which is what EA/Dice said at the Hawaii event.

Star citizen will be a Mantle game and uses Cry Engine 3 therefore Cry Engine 3 will incorporate Mantle.

Just because it was run on an Nvidia GPU months before release doesn't make it an 'official' Nvidia game.

From your first link:

Before dismissing AMD so lightly I'd like to remind you of all the "info" that was posted around the Net forums(by who one wonders) stating that AMD would not do well in the console competition XB1 and PS4.
"There will be no APU in the consoles" etc...and yet here we are.
GCN hardware is now present in both the top selling consoles and AMD market share and profitability are on the rise.
They also have two of the best performing discreet graphics cards available today and have redefined the price points at which high end graphics are sold.
Looks to me like they are delivering and the consumer is benefiting.

All that shows is that one has to wait for concrete performance numbers from an unbiased source.

One could just as easily cite all the developers statements made about consoles, how they would outperform a high end pc, etc. Turns out they did not come close to meeting those expectations, although still a good value for the money.
