Hamilton in 3rd not keeping up even in the dry. Alonso well in the lead after a Perez mistake. Perez is still fastest, though.
 
Vettel and Button each took themselves out of contention by running into people.

Alonso and Perez! 😛

Perez wins easily except for that mistake, but experience counts and Alonso didn't put a wheel wrong.
 
I honestly thought Perez was going to take the lead eventually with DRS and the way he was lighting up those sectors. Alonso was something else today though especially right after the restart. Glad to see the Ferrari show some speed... or at least one of the Ferraris. :hmm: I am so screwed later but this was worth staying up for. 😎
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see Massa out and Perez in at Ferrari, soon. Great drive by Perez and obviously very impressive by Alsonso as well. I felt bad for Button - he caused that crash and everything fell apart after that.
 
Fantastic race. Massa is done... Perez might be better off at Sauber than Ferrari though.

I don't know who gets the drive of the day, Alonso or Perez.

Nice to hear the Spanish and Italian national anthems.

Yeah, what a race! Watched the replay this afternoon on Speed, and it was an entertaining event. Perez had a phenomenal race, too bad about running wide there after he had the gap down under half a second to Alonso.

Sauber lost that race for Perez. He should have pitted with or even before Alonso. Instead of coming out of the pits with a one second gap on the preferred tires he came out seven seconds behind and had to kill his tires to bridge the gap. I wouldn't say the Sauber is a shit car either. The Ferrari is a shit car based on their standards, but the Sauber is looking like a pretty good car, at least in Perez's hands. I'm not sure if banning the blown diffusers deserves all the credit, but F1 is more exciting than it's been in years.

Well, it looked like Perez was going to pass Alonso easily before the mistake.

I suppose it's true that if Perez had pitted with Alonso he'd have been closer to start with.

Alonso tends to drive as fast as he needs to though, especially when he has a lead. That way he doesn't roast his tires until he needs to.

I wonder if Alonso was just waiting for the gap to close up before pushing harder to maintain it? Alonso did occasionally run a quicker sector than Perez.

We'll probably never know.

With DRS, the days of holding someone off with a good drive are probably over.
 
Great race, would have liked to see button up there as he does well in changeble conditions. Although I'm a little worried this season may turn out to be one sided as McLaren do the best job to catch up when their behind, what happens when they start out infront. They probably would have run away with the race if it were dry.

On to Shanghi. The races there are usually pretty good. Wet or Dry.
 
After two races.. it has become even harder to determine where teams are standing.. in terms of performance.

McLaren looks like they are the best, but not convincing enough in race pace.

RedBull are OK.. it seems. Race pace is good.. but quali not so much.

Ferrari have been relegated to mid pack.

Sauber and Williams looks faster than Ferrari.. if only they be more consistent and improve their quali performance.

Lotus seem to be performing close to the top of the field, they just need to get their act together.

Mercedes has become the laughing stock these two races. Horrible tire degradation and pitiful race pace.
