They are really dug into just across the DMZ. Even if we bombed the shit out of it, it most likely won't take everything out.

Nevermind their nuclear capability, they do have plenty of ability to strap chemical weapons on their short/mid range missles and fuck a lot of shit up.

North Korea would not have to hit the US. A high altitude nuclear blast between Japan and the USA, then let the winds blow the radioactive dust over the western states.

During world war II, the japanese released high altitude balloons carrying bombs. A few of the balloons with the bombs bombs were found in the deserts of California. The balloons had been carried from japan to California by the high altitude jet stream.

Are you insane? We could easily fuck them up with conventional munitions, at the risk of Seoul of course, but to nuke them would be insane.

What would you say if we preemptively nuked them and they were able to get a nuke off that hit Seoul in retaliation? "Umm, sorry bout that South Korea but they said they were going to nuke us! I know our intelligence agency has said over and over that they can't reach even Guam and if they could their accuracy sucks so bad it would probably hit hundreds of miles away but still!!"

agreed. but I think part of the concern is if NK attacks first, and goes apeshit and throws everything. Regardless of how we respond, the initial massacre would make 9/11 look like a holiday.

In case you're not aware, the US has done high altitude tests over the Pacific. You're worried about nothing.
 
I think can we safely say now that appeasement toward a nation with a belligerent leadership does not work and has not ever worked. They will continually redraw the line in the sand each and every time until they are actually confronted and stopped . Relations will not get better in the future with this nation once they manufacture more nukes and develop longer ranged missiles threats.

Not to mention sky high lung and breast cancer rates in the decades following such tests. And not to mention the fact way more people smoked cigarettes then, which may have killed most of them. Just trying to be fair and balanced about this, like Fux News would be about possible fallout threat.
