People need to remain calm. NK will probably try to launch them over Japan as a "show of force." Of course, when the US shoots them down for the lulz, what are they going to do?
US has yet to attempt to do that. I wonder if they will try, should NK fire another test shortly..

They're going to attack somehow. They almost need to now to show they'll actually pull the trigger. It will just probably be something remote, and not worth a larger counter attack that would almost certainly start a war.

And what it they do, and the missile defense doesn't work? That might give NK the green light to lay waste to Guam or something.

Once i get time, I'll find the article talking about the defense system in Guam that's going there. Apparently what's there originally wouldn't be able to totally stop an NK attack, and what's being sent isn't even fully tested yet.

Yeah the success rate for the missile defense stuff hasn't really been fully established, so I'm not sure the US would risk the embarrassment of a miss to try to shoot them down. It would be pretty awesome though if we did.

Previous launches were announced in advance. No justification for an attempted shootdown.

It was also a way to determine the capability.

North Korea = non event. Everyone knows this. This kid in power is not crazy. He likes basketball. He knows that if they fire a single shot, they are screwed hard this time.

It does look like NK wants to commit suicide.

It looks like that to you because you know the truth of the situation. His people see a different picture. It looks like he is just trying to prove something. If it goes to war then this kid is epic screwed. He has things to live for.

NK is retarded; their mindset just makes me /boggle. It's like a kid at a zoo trying to stick his hand in the cage where the lion resides. What's the point of all this sabre rattling exactly? If they do have nukes, and let's say they launch one at Hawaii or Japan, etc., then all they will do is seal their fate.

Never go full retard.

In and of itself North Korea is unsustainable. The only reason they've survived this long is due to foreign aid, either given by China or extracted under military threat from the West. Now everyone is telling them to go fuck themselves, so they're ratcheting up the provocations in the hope of getting food.

I hope it doesn't work and we wipe out that skid mark of a regime to a man.

In other related news, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick has forwarded a diplomatic letter of formal protest to the UN Security Council and the WTO, accusing North Korea of plagiarism.

No way can they deliver a nuke. The only thing they can do is nuke themselves during testing. I don't think the south has much patience left though. I swear, anyone could run that country better than those idiots. If I was president, on the first day i'd announce, "ok boys, wars over. Les get rid of that wall and start trading shit". Problem = solved.

Second thing you'd say is "what? Why are you pointing those AK-47s at me?"

I've read that accuracy is in the neighborhood of 50/50.

Not sure why people get huge raging stiffies when they talk about our vaunted, yet deplorably untested missile defense system when it's pretty much like flipping a coin.

They're not some stupid one-dimensional villains. The top elite guys are sharp.

They won't attack for the same reasons you listed. And they'll never go full retard.

All this rhetoric is for cementing KJU's leadership. By now, most people here should know this. It's been mentioned numerous times.

Correct. NK has now given a date of April 10 for South Korean companies to evacuate their personnel and for embassies to consider doing the same. They think this "deadline" will get them results and will look for even the slightest crack to claim a face-saving victory and back down.

This is all sabre rattling to try to shake the nations for more aid because they are a failing country.

Sad really.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't take precautions in case a general or someone in the middle ranks decides to go and start a crisis chain reaction.

SK companies should comply...and remove all the equipment in factories that they have paid for. Open new factories in SK...let NK fend for its own people.

I'm wondering if we should start that policy, because one missile with a nuke detonated above South Korea or Japan would wreak total havoc from EMP. The potential downsides are three - loss of deterrent value if we try and miss, possible cause to start a massive conventional attack, and educating the insane inmates as to the strengths and limitations of our missile defense system.

And what it they do, and the missile defense doesn't work? That might give NK the green light to lay waste to Guam or something.

Personally I doubt North Korea could actually hit Guam. However, I do not believe we have anything that can reliably hit an ICBM or medium range theater missile in terminal phase. If we want to take it out it must be either in boost phase (ideal) or in midrange glide mode.

His unicorn might be telling him to do this.

My little pony is a pretty pony with a crystal horn, and together we're going to destroy America.

Because its the equivalent of shooting a bullet with a bullet. The technology is not good despite the huge amount of money sunk into it and previous tests were quite embarrassing.

I'll take that 50/50 chance over no chance of stopping the missile short of a pre-emptive strike.
