TF2 beta with Orange Box Pre-Order

I really thought CS:S was a nice step in the right direction for CS games, and TF I kinda of missed it but its a very cool concept. I really am looking forward to TF2, someone please let us know if the beta is playable yet! Cant wait to get home!
 
All I know is their forums are absolutely getting hammered.

I think I've heard people speculate 12pm Seattle time. 2 oclock here, and I have class until 330, teehee.

Someone said it's "supposedly" noon pacific. That means 4 your time. Is it up now?
 
Expect a midnight PST (3am EST) release.
If it's sooner, I'll be happy, but what I've heard is "late tonight" with no specific time, but most people seem to be taking that as midnight. Could even be tomorrow, which wouldn't surprise me considering TF2 was announced in what, 1997?
 
Nah they have no reason to wait for midnight. They should have done that last midnight if it were the case. They are going to release it as soon as possible, I imagine. If they wanted to create fanfare the time would have been announced. Though I wish they would have done it before everyone got out of work/school.
 
Where are the servers going to come from on such a popular release all of a sudden? With everyone having the game preloaded and waiting for that last bit to play (I'm sure Steam will still get hammered even if the size of the files isn't much), all of a sudden people can be playing in a couple of minutes. I guess Valve would run some official beta servers, but even if they ran 20 16-24 player servers (and 20 seems like more than they would do), it still seems like there would be nowhere to play.

They've already released the dedicated server from what I've read.
 
I like it when Valve shuts down their forums and their whole web-site when they know something wrong is going up. They won't want to read nor hear about their own consumer's complaints or remarks (constructive ones too). We are their boss, we pay them the money they need but they cut the only direct communication path between them and us, their official web-site.

GG Valve (and yes this is an angry TFC fan talking, waiting for TF2 because he bought the Orange Box just yesterday thinking he would be able to play TODAY from at least earlier during the day, but nooooooooo I won't be able to because I work tomorrow and Valve decides to release it too late for me and certainly thousand others in the same boat).
 
Yeah I'm kinda PO'd too. I have been waiting for tf2 since their original design, what 8 years ago? Now they set a date and can hardly keep it. No official word? WTF?
 
I was waiting on some opinions on the beta before pre-buying the orange box. Hopefully they will still offer the beta after today. If not I'll just wait for some deals once released.
 
Well, I haven't heard them say any specific time, just September 17th. So unless I missed something, they haven't lied about anything as we have quite a few more hours till that deadline.

And I believe they run on PST, which kind of sucks since I'd wait till midnight EST but midnight PST is too late as if it is any good at all I would end up with like 2 hours of sleep; in other words I'd wait till tomorrow evening to play. A few rounds of ET:QW will do for tonight anyway 🙂
